Yeah but they won't play like that though, no point fantasising over the idea because it won't happen.

No doubt Real have a few more gears which clearly aren't needed against Schalke. Good result, sure to progress.

Nah if they played like that against Arsenal they'd lose. Doesn’t matter though because they wouldn't play like this against anyone that would even come close to causing a threat.

They'll up their game when it's necessary.

Reminds me of a similar goal Marcelo scored year ago. His right is actually really good on long shots.

he scored a similar one against Levante last season iirc but it was a curled shot. he also scored a similar one against City 2 years ago. I've said it many times, the guy has the skill of a world-class offensive midfielder.

Carnival is over so it's back to football and what a better time to enjoy it by watching Real Madrid bore themselves to a win. Reminded me of a match a couple seasons ago with Utd and QPR. Same result with a full back scoring a long range shot. All Utd did was just score at certain intervals that killed QPR's "plucky" approach.

Real did the same minus any real approach from Schalke. I also would think people would have out grown calling Marcelo average. He is clearly a good full back. Leave him exposed to the elements (like most full backs) and there is a high chance he'll be milked till the tits get saggy. Give him support and he'll be relatively fine.

lmao, still nitpicking at marcelo. he been solid all season long, even defensive end. expecting him to be core of offensive play/built up front but 1 or 2 positioning off and suddenly he's subpar defender. it's actually kind of amazing consider the roles he'd to cover every night.

I watched the game and it played out exactly as I thought it would. Madrid dominated possession and restricted the home team to relatively few chances. To Schalke's credit, they didn't get thrashed - which is sort of a backhanded complement in a way. Totally outclassed.

Dream start for Schalke on an impossible journey. But Ronaldo cut it short

1-1 around 30 mins
