The F2P concept. People like F2P? I've never understood it. You want a game that's free but has content that others can have that you have to pay for? That's anything but free, it's a model to rope in people paying more for a game that they otherwise wouldn't just so you aren't left behind

Specifically for Overwatch, Blizzard is going to come out with new content and add it in FREE. You buy it once for a measly $40 (admittedly the $60 for consoles was a cheap shot) and the rest of the time you're on a level playing field getting everything for free immediately. Maps, heroes (if they add more), game modes you name it. Blizzard is always one of the best companies when it comes to being engaged with their games after release and also listening to the community.

Agreed, I'm glad it's not a F2P game.. but like you said, the price they put on the console version is pretty high considering the limited content you get. I'm sure they'll add more stuff in the future, but you're not supposed to pay for unknown, future content

The other thing is skins and cosmetics. It's similar for achievements and all...this isn't really even Overwatch related, I've just never understood it. Why do people care? The only time I ever remember doing anything like this is collectibles in games that you go around and find, and I did that mostly because I personally found it fun. People get enraged over the loot boxes...what? Never got it.


I haven't really cared much about the loot boxes, so far. In fact, It's not impossible that I'll end up purchasing a few of them. I still think it's a very cynical system that particularly affects people with gambling addictions, though. A more honest way of doing it, would be to allow people to purchase whichever "loot" they wanted for a set price, removing the gambling element entirely. To be honest, I was very surprised to see a microtransaction system in Overwatch, and although I'm not bothered by it personally, I'm not at all surprised that some people are.
