We vs They
When the fixtures cames out, and we came to know Madrid are in our group, many of us were happy that we will get to play the champions of the Europe. But at such a low time in our current form, I have no idea how to take this one.
We are totally in shambles right now. They are the kompletely opposite.
We are so toothless in our attack. They are probably the one of the best definition of attack.
We have Coutinho, Sterling, Lallana and Balotelli. They have Ronaldo, Bale, Benzema and james.
We are in a bad position in our group. They will almost qualify with today's win
This is what I found from our deal clueless manager:
We already know where do we stand as a team. Only thing which I would like to demand is performance, performance and performance.
Dont play like cowards, dont play not to lose badly, dont play thinking we are playing against Madrid, dont play like we are in bad form, dont play like we fear them, dont play just to say 'we are back here in CL' but instead play as the name suggests Liverpool FC.

This is what I found from our deal clueless manager:
Rodgers said: "It's why we strengthened the squad - because of weeks like this.
"It's a really exciting week, that's the key point."
Rodgers is adamant that what happened in the last encounter with Real was "nothing to be ashamed of", with Liverpool playing well at times.
And, without making any bold predictions about Tuesday, he has been keen to talk up his side's ability to come through tough times and shine.
He said: "I think we have demonstrated character in this team over the last 18 months - and, of course, when you are not playing as well, then that is sometimes what you have to rely on.
"I think with the Real Madrid game, the result was disappointing, but there were periods when we played well.
"Their quality and a bit of our sloppiness in our defending cost us the result.
"They then showed later on, playing against Barcelona (the following weekend), what a top team they are when they beat them 3-1. So it was certainly nothing to be ashamed of in terms of the result.
"But we are looking to find our own solutions to win games.
"That resilience and character is in the team, and as a coach you are always buoyed when you have that."
We already know where do we stand as a team. Only thing which I would like to demand is performance, performance and performance.

Is this the Bernabeu match thread?
I just want to say I *bleep* hate football at the moment. All the joy has been sucked out of me by the shit surrounding the club.

Meh. Won't win. But I'll genuinely be pissed off completely if we ride it off.
Couldn't care less if we lose, just show some f8cking effort ffs. There's no fighting spirit in our team at all.

When was the last time we had such a stacked bench? I can't think of any. The depth is real. Hala Liverpool YNWA

Re: We vs They
On one hand I don't mind us rotating, the bench players deserve a chance after our recent performances.
On the other hand it's sad that we're fielding a second-string line-up in our 4th Champions League match in ages, a real glamour tie, too.

Re: We vs They
what's up with Sakho not being in the squad? Surely he should be considered your best CB by far?

He's injured Hans.
Good performance, Keep this up till the 60th and we might sneak a draw with those subs.
1-0 only yet.

FT 1-0
We beat Ludo away and Basel at home and we qualify. Its that straightforward.

Re: We vs They
Not so easy to beat Basel at home, though. Ask ManUtd, Chelsea, Bayern... You need to bring your very best game to the St.Jakob-Park if you want to win there.Nishy wrote:We beat Ludo away and Basel at home and we qualify. Its that straightforward.

Re: We vs They
Okay, then you already went through the St.Jakob-Park steel bath. But even away in England, Basel are no "Fallobst" as we say in German (=windfall, the fruit that fall of a tree on their own). For some reason their record in England is astonishingly good (other than in Spain or Germany).
