Sad joke of a manager at a sad joke of a club. It is a match made in heaven.

Yet knocked out of CL both Guardiola and Bayern having a much inferior squad and remained unbeaten against both of them with today's draw at the Allianz.

If I was a Bayern fan I'd be glad Bayern lost only two points and that Wolfsburg drew as well.

If that disgruntled unibrowed toddler from the Simpsons had somehow managed to crawl away unnoticed by his parents and get his hands on a CL trophy it would not be more grotesque.

It was not grotesque. It was majestic, divine. It was written in the stars.

Schalke were beyond awful. Starting to have doubts about Di Matteo now. They were dreadful defensively and offered zero attack impetus.

That was an embarrasing performance though. I know they're missing loads of first teamers but there's no excuse for that. Easily the most one sided game I've seen in years.

They weren't missing as many key players as they'd like you to think though. Yes they missed 4 excellent players, but even when they're healthy they rotate in and out of the team.

Going to have to disagree with you there. Goretzka, Draxler, Farfan, Kolasinac & Fahrmann are all first teamers imo.

Worst derby loss in 18 years apparently. Wouldn't be surprised if fans are on his back now especially with Dortmund hot on their heels.

Well, Jens Keller missed them and even more players and still he went along pretty okayish. RDM has more of the starters available, but his results are not really an improvement to Keller's. I still think that Schalke shouldn't have thrown out the money for a coach when they could have used it to improve the squad instead.

Well if Di Matteo wasn't loved before, let alone now ....... there is not worse than losing a derby in this way for a football fan . and Borussia is also in its worst moment/year under Klopp ....

That performance will have erased that derby battering. Easily the best team performance I've seen this season. A team with an average age of 22 went to Madrid's own ground and thoroughly outplayed them.

Well, finally RDM decided to play the kids, and obviously they want to play and not park the bus. If they continue like this, things definitely look better. (Although I still doubt he will stay out his contract - as I said this is Schalke)

I just that saw that it hit the Schalke defender before going to him, hence why it wasn't ruled out I think.

Deflections off a defender still mean it's offside. The only time it isn't offside after an opposing player touches the ball is if the opposition player is in possession of the ball and then the ball ends up with someone who is offside.

The way this would happen is if a defender passes it to a striker who is offside, for a clear example.

Passing a ball that deflects off someones foot and still goes to a player who is offside is still offside.

I don't think it was called simply because it was so close that those are pretty hard to call. Can't blame the assistant ref for missing it.

Lost the war but won the battle. RDM proving his CL win was no fluke. The man knows how to field a team and proved that he doesn't rely on pure experience and plays the younger players. Probably something he picked up in England methinks. hmm

In a Schalke forum I just read about the current situation of Schalke:

>> Bayer und Gladbach sind gerade ganz weit weg. (= Bayer and Gladbach are currently very far away [from us])
> Das ist halt der unfaire Vorteil wenn man mit Trainer spielt. (= Well, that's the unfair advantage of them playing with a coach.)

Xenophobia? It's more like Schalke will miss the CL next season, while with Jens Keller they managed to get to the CL both seasons before, even though Keller had just as many injured players. :coffee:

Oh, and I just heard at SSNHD that this is Schalke's worst Rückrunde since 22 years. *smh*
