It’s been reported that WWE officials were planning on keeping Daniel Bryan out of the ring until the 30-man Royal Rumble main event later this month.

Bryan is now being advertised to wrestle Kane at the January 16th WWE live event in St. Louis. The Scottrade Center website lists the following for that Friday night live event:

“WWE returns to St. Louis for the first time in 2015 with a special Friday night live event at Scottrade Center on January 16!

John Cena vs. Seth Rollins

Steel Cage Match

Roman Reigns vs. The Big Show

Daniel Bryan vs. Kane

WWE® ANNOUNCES NEW BROADCAST TEAMS AS A PART OF SMACKDOWN®'S MOVE TO THURSDAY NIGHTS

STAMFORD, CONN., January 8, 2015 – As part of WWE SmackDown's move next week to Thursday nights at 8 PM on Syfy, WWE has announced changes to the broadcast teams for its flagship programs Monday Night Raw® and WWE SmackDown. Starting Monday, January 12, Michael Cole, Booker T® and John "Bradshaw" Layfield® will handle play-by-play and color commentary on Raw. Michael Cole, Jerry "The King" Lawler® and Byron Saxton™ will be the hosts for SmackDown when it debuts next Thursday at 8 PM on Syfy.

The broadcast team for WWE pay-per-view events will continue to be Michael Cole, Jerry "The King" Lawler and John "Bradshaw" Layfield.

Michael Cole has been the voice of WWE for more than 15 years, calling all of the action on Raw, SmackDown and WWE pay-per-view events. Booker T is a WWE Hall of Famer, a multi-time World Heavyweight Champion, and recent panelist on the Raw pre-and-post shows on WWE Network. John "Bradshaw" Layfield is a former World Heavyweight Champion and a frequent guest contributor on the Fox News Channel. Jerry "The King" Lawler is a WWE Hall of Famer, and a mainstay at ringside, bringing his unique form of color commentary to WWE fans for more than 20 years.

Byron Saxton is a former ECW® and NXT® broadcaster, and most recently was a reporter for Raw and SmackDown.

The storyline with Erick Rowan, Ryback and Dolph Ziggler being “fired” from WWE is believed to be resolved before or during the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

All three Superstars are expected to be participants in the 30-man Royal Rumble main event.

WWE.com has confirmed that Daniel Bryan will return to the ring on next Thursday’s WWE SmackDown episode. They wrote the following:

Will Danial Bryan compete when SmackDown makes its move to THURDAYS, this week at 8/7 CT on Syfy? Yes!

WWE.com has learned that the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion will make his in-ring return to action on SmackDown monumental Thursday night premiere. The news comes on the heels of Bryan’s announcement during the Dec. 29 edition of Raw that he would once again lace up his boots after a long-standing injury to battle in the 2015 Royal Rumble Match.

Who will The Beard face? Will he pick up right where he left off? And will The Authority have anything to say about it? Find out this Thursday night at 8/7 CT on SmackDown!

As noted, Jerry Lawler will begin calling SmackDown with Michael Cole and Byron Saxton next week and the new RAW announce team will be Cole, JBL and Booker T.

Apparently WWE officials have wanted to remove Lawler from RAW for a while now. Officials reportedly wanted to take Lawler off RAW for “a long time” but figured they couldn’t after he had the heart attack. The new SmackDown relaunch is giving them the chance to make that change.

Triple threat at RR is a change. I guess it's alright. Lesnar can lose the title without being made look shit or Cena can lose without being look like shit. Rollins can win via cowardly method and that would be surprising as well. Decent.

That RAW was terrible. Ziggler Vs BNB was the best part.

Hope Bray V Ambrose feud is done for good.

In his latest Hotline, Wade Keller explained that WWE saw how well the New Year's show with half the roster went, so they are now preparing to make certain talents Raw and SD exclusive. The brands won't be completely split, but there will be key talent that is exclusive to each brand. The goal is to get SD ratings back up to a consistent 2.5 and they believe a well-defined split could do the trick.

There were people shocked that Bray Wyatt defeated Dean Ambrose clean in their Ambulance Match on last Monday’s WWE RAW.

It’s possible that Ambrose turns heel in the near future or WWE just isn’t focused on protecting him right now.

We’ve noted how officials wanted to keep Wyatt looking strong in case The Undertaker decides to perform at WrestleMania 31. There was a feeling after Wyatt’s RAW win that it could be a sign the company believes Taker is coming back.

Reigns is actually fortunate that he's not limited in any way. He has charisma, he has the look, he has a believable voice and he can always improve in the ring. Just needs a character, so he has a purpose.

Until that happens, he shouldn't be main eventing imo.
