Have to say, I'm not terribly happy to hear Costa is starting tomorrow. Even if he is 100% fit, we still have Arsenal to play at the weekend. 3 games in 8 days for a player Mourinho told us not a week ago was unable to play more than 1 in that space of time? Seems unwise and unnecessarily risky.

Give him 60 minutes and then bring on Remy.

We don't need Costa to beat Arsenal anyway. Just target their pivot and try get Remy/Costa running in behind Mert.

If we don't need him to beat Arsenal, then why do we need him to beat Sporting? The former is the more difficult and more important game.

I'm messing with you.

If Jose trusts Costa to be able to start both games, then we should go with that. Jose has more idea than us how Costa is feeling and if it doesn't work then we have to play Remy against Arsenal. Not the end of the world.

It's not like Costa is undroppable, Sure we score more with him but we still can score without him.

I trust Jose on this one and I imagine Costa will start both games.

If we get some early goals against sporting, I can see Jose pulling Costa off less than an hour into the game.

Unless this whole fitness hysteria was just a ruse from the start and it's nowhere near as bad as Mourinho has made out.

Willian on tomorrow's match:
-

"It is a difficult match against a great club with quality players. We are prepared. We respect them, but we are here to collect points. We come here to win. We cannot afford to slip."

Jose Mourinho warns his Chelsea side they will face a bear-pit at his former Sporting stomping ground:
The Blues boss worked alongside Sir Bobby Robson at the Portuguese giants and has told his side to prepare for a hostile atmosphere
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jose-mourinho-warns-chelsea-side-4345811

"I think the point is that Sporting is a big club. It was in an economical crisis for a while and because of that it was out of Champions League for a while."

"But now they are back and now they are fighting for the domestic titles and now they are back in the Champions League."

"The first match at home is against Chelsea, it’s not against Maribor. Managed by a Portuguese coach. I think for them it’s a super motivation."

"The group is open. Everybody has one point. It will be a big match. They are competing with Porto and Benfica and they are again a top team and will be difficult for us."

"It was a fantastic time for me at Sporting. Until the moment they sacked Mr Robson."

"We’re talking about a club, with a huge population of supporters, one with a big tradition in many sports, not just football, even World and European champions in athletics, marathons, hockey, which is in Portugal, a huge sport."

"So every Portuguese guy – even if he’s not a Sporting supporter – when Sporting during the last decade was in trouble, nobody was happy. Everybody’s happy that Sporting is back."

"Going back to Portugal is not a problem for me, although it’s only happened a couple of times, when I went against Porto with Chelsea."

"The first time we lost but we were already group winners and a couple of years later we played the quarter-final. We drew 1-1 there and we beat them here 2-1."

"But we have to be ready. They are not a counter-attacking team – they are a team that wants to be dominant and try to be dominant in domestic games."

"Of course, when you get to Europe people adapt to opponents. They know that we’re a strong side, so I’m not expecting them to play against us the same way they play a small match in Portugal."
