Re: Barclay's Premier League '14-'15 discussion V3
rewatched the game now.
Have to say this has to be a very lucky point for Utd on the whole.
Can't understand how people can claim Utd 'dominated' the first half. Was fairly even, but with Chelsea 6:0 corners and the best chance for Drogba.
And a double 100% penalty not given, which is quite ridiculous.
Utd had more shots maybe in the first half, but all harmless except for the van Persie throughball. Even that one wasn't that great of a chance, difficult angle, Courtois enough time to come out and spoil the shot.
2nd half was all Chelsea, except for a few minutes before Mikel got subbed on when Utd had some momentum.
Utd pressed for an equalizer last 10m without being dangerous at all, it's no wonder too Chelsea would tire a bit since they had a game in midweek after all. That's why Mourinho was right to shut shop.
Hilarious that Neville claimed beforehand Utd were targeting a weak spot with di Maria vs Filipe Luis, di Maria had a bad game at RW as people on here aptly called, but Luis had also Jumanji in his pocket in the second half.
But what really is completely ridiculous is the MOTM for Courtois.
Makes no sense whatsoever, except to flatter Utd.
A complete joke tbh.
Because in the 2nd half Utd didn't actually have a shot on target until the 75th minute or so, and even then only one where RvP was in a very narrow angle, and another very tame long range one from di Maria. Up to the goal of course.
Courtois sure was very good, but he actually did not have to make one save out of the ordinary all game, De Gea had the harder ones, against Drogba especially.
MOTM should have been Hazard or Matic.
All in all Chelsea was the better team, had the better chances, should have had a penalty and got undone by a gifted last minute freekick and a sending off due to a dive.
Lucky United. Not completely undeserved, but still very lucky.

@abramovich
still de gea edges it yesterday cos of that one save he made from point blank against hazard.
fyi like RED meant, its taken for granted that cuortois is a GOAT keeper. So when i say its easy to make such saves because of height advantage, you have to understand its not meant any tall keeper can emulate that. Instead it has to be implied that For someone of cuortois's calibre its not a big deal.
Anyway why i am saying this to you, to someone who is not even arsed to abuse others personally just to prove a point.

I agree with this.
To me as well Courtois wasn't MOTM, not because he wasn't good, obviously a top keeper who was flawless.
But on the whole Utd weren't dangerous enough to demand a MOTM performance of him.
The two saves vs van Persie were great, but not out of the ordinary.

Jesus christ this is what annoys me here sometimes, how in any way shape or form abuse?
Also the shot was straight at him good save, bad miss imo.
- MOTM should have been Hazard or Matic.
Agreed I gave it to Matic too, although he got a silly yellow which annoyed me.

its not an accusation mate. its more like reminding him of something; And also it has nothing to do with this; instead its a past incident.
And regarding MOTM its pretty subjective, a supporter will have a bias to his team's players thwts pretty natural, but since yea you are a neutral and you are saying its either matic or hazard. then may be. Anyway many reviewers rated those 2 as well as fellaini 8 (out of 10) so it doesnt really matter i guess. They had more or less the same impact on the match.

So wasn't Pochettino supposed to be better than AVB? Even Sherwood did a better job and Koeman is embarrassing him at his former club.

Hans, you did a pretty good job discrediting United in that post of yours. Fair enough, you're entitled to your opinions.
Stats would suggest otherwise. We had more posession, more attempts on goal, more shots on goal. We controlled the game for large parts of the match and did well to compete against the so called 'best team in the league', a team many didn't give us a chance against.
The one bit of quality Chelsea cut us open with was the Hazard shot. We cut them open with good play. The Di Maria shot, Januzaj through ball to RVP, his other pass just before that that RVP squandered tamely.
Not to ramble on, but I am confident of where this team is heading.

this because " Attending a music concert after a match may seem arbitrary to some, but refs are meant to travel with their match-day team to and from games."

RED saying "we had more possession" like we didn't willingly give the possession to United and invite the pressure. We had them absolutely pegged before Mou decided to go defensive. Its not as if you took control of it. We gave it to you. Pretty much the same thing we did against City.

You can look at it both ways, spin it how you want. The truth is, after we conceded, the momentum shifted and you capitalised on it. Before that it was an even game till about the last quarter when we decided to push on for the equalizer.

You dominated us for like 15 minutes. The way you are making it sound, its as if you were all over us from the 1st minute onwards until that defensive substitution. And then originally you guys were predicted to destroy us by experts and your lot alike, isnt it ???
1st 45 + until the first goal - we kinda had more possession and shots but you had couple of the better chances , so we can call it even then I guess.
After the goal, we went searching for the equalizer and the whole world know the state of our defense right now and you guys pounced on the opportunity to counter attack and seeing the way our back line crumbling , to avoid any further damage, the whole team had to resort to defensive.
Thats the 10-15 mins you dominated us. After that mou made the sub and you in turn went defensive and we attacked to later culminate in a very much deserved goal.
Agreed about the refereeing blemishes and lady luck, but that can vary. If one day it will help you next day it can really shit on you. Remember our Leicester match ??
But take that out we can see it was a pretty even match.
Now mounjo turning defensive wasnt our fault. was it ??

1. Not once did I say we dominated for the entire match until that point. It was largely a balanced game and if anything, would have shifted in our favor completely if we continued attacking after the goal.
2. Sky Sports actually showed 55% possession before the goal and 45% after.
3. What have I got to do with what "experts" predicted?
