Re: Barclay's Premier League '14-'15 discussion V3
Merseyside injured 11. Where would this finish?
GK? - Coleman, Stones, Lovren, Sakho - Allen, McCarthy, Can - Mirallas, Sturridge, Barkley
Top 10 finish imo.

Also if this stays the same we might see Skrtel-Kolo against Madrid.

With these injuries United, Arsenal and co are picking up I continue to have even greater admiration and repsect for Jason Palmer, Dr. Eva Caneiro, Thierry Laurent and the rest of the medical and fitness staff.
Even Cesc was in awe a couple of weeks ago.

What does everyone think about limiting foreign players in the PL?

I think it would be great for English football. I think all domestic leagues should do this.

Anti-capitalism and wrong
What comes to the national team, I don't think such a move would really help England's NT. Developing your talent as a kid and a teenager is much more important than playing week-in-week-out in the Prem in your twenties.

Re: Barclay's Premier League '14-'15 discussion V3
I think it would be only counterproductive. Harmful.
It would decrease the show in Premier League and anyway it wouldn't cause even positive effects for England
During First Division eras most players were English , basically the whole totality of the league, but the results of England NT were poor equally
The need of  " autarky " to  revive the own football is just a myth.
If an  English player is good, he plays . It doesn't change  if there are foreigns.

Wont make a difference to the England NT and only hurts the league.
That being said, at least there will be less stockpiling talent without ever using them, type signings.
Not picking on them, because I can use examples from many other teams but why did Chelsea sign Salah? Couldnt they have just given these fodder minutes to some youth?

Because stockpiling players like Salah and selling them for profit is our way of beating FFP. In an ideal world Jeremie Boga would be getting his minutes.

Re: Barclay's Premier League '14-'15 discussion V3
I'd be in favor of it. With so much money flowing into the Prem these days top clubs have zero incentive in developing youth players. They don't have market value until they prove it and you aren't sure how they will pan out.
When you are trying to win titles it just makes more sense for clubs who have the money to rely on vets who will be ready to go to insure nonstop flow of quality to avoid dropping as many points as possible. Plus as others have said these flavor of the month type players have resale value even if you don't use them.
I just don't want to see the world of football where there are players synonymous with clubs disappear. If a team has all these players who they have spent millions and millions of dollars on and on high wages sitting on the bench what chance do unproven young players have on cracking the first team?
I wouldn't be in favor of severely limiting the number of foreign players allowed but I think some heavier limitations would be fine.

Re: Barclay's Premier League '14-'15 discussion V3
Neil Lennon, the former Celtic manager, has been appointed the Championship struggler's Bolton's new manager.
I suppose it's his chance to show how good or bad he really is. Bolton are last in the Championship with 5 points from 11 games.
I wonder if he's regretting his decision to leave Celtic...

Celtic certainly regrets letting him go. I didn't think he was a very good manager until I saw how dire celtic are without him. Getting knocked out of Europe twice by semipro sides in a month and currently sitting 6th in the league
