Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group A
CL high 49 fouls in the Atleti-Juve game
The game must have been really scrappy (Atleti's favourite )
Malmö though 2-0 against Olympiacos, if they can get two draws against Atleti they will have a good chance of going thtough

It was one of the worst games of football I've seen between two top tier sides in terms of entertainment. The referee didn't get any decisions wrong, but his failure to give out yellows in the first half set a precedent for the rest of the game. There was no rhythm for either side. Juve were playing for the draw until the goal, with a 3-5-2 that was virtually a 5-3-2. Sloppy defending for a cross and it was 1-0 to Atletico with only 15 minutes to play. As I expected, the 3-5-2 got completely outmoded against the packed defence and counter-attacking tactics. Once Juve conceded the goal, Allegri changed to a 4-3-3. Maybe if Juve had started with that formation, they would've got something out of this game - and I would've seen some entertainment.

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group A
Watching the game now, 80 minute now and i dont think Juve had any shot on target or any shots from inside the box. This was typical atletico performance. Great organization and pressing...lot of fouls and very cunning in every situations.
Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group A
Been saying for years as good as our key players are, we badly lack creativity minus Pirlo, and our players are too indirect and slow. Nothing to do with quality, we simply need a pair of wingers who can take their man on and run at teams.

Litchsteiner and Asamoah/Evra just arent going to cut it in terms of wingers. We need more offensively minded wingers for this to work in Europe.

Because if 3 European seasons of the 352 have not worked, try again

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group A
The issue is not 3-5-2 at the end of the day it's players that have to preform.
However when you play 3-5-2 you are saying that your wingbacks are two of your best players. I'm not sure that's the case for Juve.

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group A
Licht is a fantastic player, and Asamoah is always improving. However they sure as hell aren't and never will be fantastic ATTACKERS, which is what we need in this 3-5-2 with the likes of Licht always being played in behind, and constantly recieving the ball in the final 3rd.
It's stupid quite frankly, a pair of decent wingers would change us so much
Decent, not even great

Robs . I was just about to say this .
A magnifiscent performance by Roberto tonight. Denied Juventus everything. Absolute 10/10 . And of course , as if his performance tonight wasn't enough , he predicted both the result and the scorer too .
Roberto ffs
Míchel
Olympiacos

Seriously , Michel is such a great coach. Maybe people can't be arsed because he's coaching Olympiacos these days and not some club of bigger exposure that would grant him recognition , but i am convinced once he does leave Olympiacos , it will be for a big job in football . Not only did he inherit a winning team from Valverde , he actually improved them and made them even better . Michel is legit , w8 for GL to catch up in a couple of years when he's coaching a more famous club in Spain .
Atletico will most certainly walk the group , but their defeat to Olympiacos wasn't a fluke either . I still remember Michel saying before the game that he was confident and knew more or less how the game would go , even Simeone said before their defeat it would be their toughest match in the whole group (u mad Juventus?). Basically , Michel needs 4 more points . And the last game is at home with Malme .. Olympiacos is only a draw away from the 16 right now , Malme aren't taking points off Olympiacos in Athens..
If Juventus wants to get that ticket for the 16 , they will have to win against Olympiacos in Torino at all costs and hope Atletico and Malme get points off them on the road , whilst they will have to win pretty much all of their remaining matches . Otherwise i believe Juventus will be missing on the 16 for a 2nd time in a row

First: Serie zZZZZzz.
Second: You can't expect to do great in Europe with Mehdrid youth like Mehrata.
The 2 most important points IMO.

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group A
roma lost and juve lost... really sad... was rooting for both.
but atleast both has got still games to rectify themselves.
on positive note, morata looks great! if not for goalkeeper he would have scored 2 goals. its time juve drop llorente and make him regular alongside tevez and get him more regular games so he will have better understanding with rest of the first 11.

Re: Champions League 2014/15 | Group A
Amazing match.
It's clear Allegri's change into the 4-3-1-2 (i.e a 4 man back line) made Juventus more adventurous, courageous and fluid in attack; straining away from the static 3-5-2 yet its clear why both CatHead and Sexxxlegri chose to stay with the latter formation for so long as defensively it is obvious how much of a difference it makes considering how bad Lichtsteiner and ASSamoah were as fullbacks tonight. These two are better set up the field afforded more options than holding a disciplined line as it is why Juventus were compromised defensively tonight.
On the other hand Pirlo scored a gorgeous free kick and racked an assist for Llorente's goal while Marchisio had a n excellent performance in midfield, shortly to be subbed off eventually due to fatigue.
Llorente coming on for an ineffectual Morata when Juventus needed answers when being 2-1 was genius by Allegri. Max decided to switch to a 4-5-1, finally making use of Llorente and the impact was clear not only by his goal, but the chances he created and all the touches he acquired to bring Juventus into play. THIS was the Llorente the ones who know his play will see if his confidence can return. Tevez was ineffectual as usual within Europe wasting a chance from a Llorente cross than a through ball subsequently wasted. Vidal irresponsibly wasted the penalty kick which would have made a difference in Juve's goal difference with Olympiakos. How Llorente does not take penalties is beyond me considering his 100% record from the spot.
In the end Allegri must be praised for his tactical changes that resulted in the comeback as it brings further questions in if he will scrap the 4 man back to the 3-5-2 which defensively without a doubt has them looked more assured.
