Re: EURO 2016 qualifiers
Poland casually beating Germany 2-0. Combination of Poland being very clinical and Germany wasteful/Szczesny unbeatable.

If it was anyone but Szczesny he would be getting a noble peace prize.

Re: EURO 2016 qualifiers
Benz 1 goal and 1 assist in 2-1 win over Portugal. 2nd half was useless as with most friendlies as players just drop intensity... but a good game overall. France has nothing to get ready or play for so they intensity is not where it should be consistently. It's expected. Still managing to play ok and win though.

First victory against West Germany in Polish football history. I'm still shocked. Even 32 year old player from Polish Ekstraklasa scored a goal.

Finland 1 - 1 Greece
For once we get handed an easy group and at a time when the tournament has just been expanded, too, and we'd need that little bit of magic to look like we could make it to a major tournament for the first time ever... And we keep being boring and bad. Oh well.
Groups D and I looking interesting, though.

With the Germany match I had a déjà vu of the Switzerland match
Only difference - it took a penalty to overcome Switzerland, while Poland scored from open play...

I had your game on the stream while watching Poland game on TV. I actually think you could have won and were the better team
Draw to Greece isn't a disaster by any means though, I think this group will have plenty of draws here and there. Key is to pick up 1 or 2 away wins and avoid losing at home to teams at the same level.

Polish celebrated as if they won the WC, German anthem even booed ...
Germans really loved there
He will be soon exceedingly criticized to his first error
I don't understand because he gets so over hated .

Re: EURO 2016 qualifiers
have replayed Mila's goal and celebration like 100 times already...
nearly tears in my eyes. Poland so deserve it !! such a glorious country, with glorious people. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of people to finally get revenge from their "NOT SO NICE" neighbours
now, please don't be anti-climatic and do the same to Scotland on Tuesday !

Russian anthem on Volleyball World Cup in Poland also was booed. Poland hasn't true supporters such as a few years ago, now there are only "sausage supporters", people over 35-40 who are mostly idiots. Naturally, Germany has the same case (toilets on Stadion Narodowy was destroyed yesterday by German "supporters"). Generally, NTs supporters is a different story compared to club's supporters.
Natalie Portman wrote:such a glorious country, with glorious people.
I could argue with that.

I have bad feelings. Scots will force to position attack and they will play very agressive. Poland NT doesn't play well in positional attack since 1974.

Re: EURO 2016 qualifiers
^ There is nothing unsportsman like about booing national anthems of Russia/Germany mate. Don't get worked up over it.
Romanians also booed Hungarian national anthem yesterday and threw lighters at their players, I personally loved it. Not because I don't like Hungary, but because it created an amazing hostile atmosphere which is all football should be about. Raw passion and heart ! It's a war! It's a qualifier !! Not a friendly after all.
Poles can boo their (Russia/Germany) national anthems for the next 400 years and it still won't make up for the cowardly and criminal acts of Niemcy and Ruska against Poland during WW II. I lived in Warsaw old town, and was so touched to learn how badly that place was burned into the ground by the Germans during the war.
It's more than a football win. and that's why it was so brilliant.

Booing national anthems is pathetic... it has no place anywhere and it's a dumb way to create atmosphere. There's a minimum level of common courtesy.

Re: EURO 2016 qualifiers
This thing about booing anthems is being a sad custom everywhere, and this also for not politician reasons. The whole San Siro booed French anthem in 2007 basically for football rivalry the Polish booes even look like normal if compared to this . ( tbf Germany changed so much after WW II with Brandt, the recognition of the Oder - Neisse line and a conscience worthy of respect but it 's not enough to stop the rancor for some ppl )
Anyway I noticed our anthem it is always booed when we play in Balkan countries , we are not loved there I suppose...

Bombing a country and raping their women and children is even more pathetic. That's what the Russians and Germans did to the Pole...not sure if you've ever been to Poland, but the hatred towards those, especially Germany, is very strong. Same way Germans use the term "Polish" as an insult and detegattory (spelling) whenever someone steals a bike/wheel in Germany. It goes both ways and is nature of this world thanks to history.

Robes, you should have seen Romania-Hungary game. Not only boos, but throwing stuff at players, flares and bombs being thrown in every other second. The first 10 mins was some of the best atmospheres I've ever seen in a football match.
I love Eastern Europe. Those guys "GET" football.

If you go far enough back in history, everyone's done something to someone else... if you're going to hold that in and let that drive you to hate/bad behavior, it's going to be a very difficult life.Natalie Portman wrote:sportsczy wrote:Booing national anthems is pathetic... it has no place anywhere and it's a dumb way to create atmosphere. History is exactly that... history. It's better to live in the present and leave the past where it belongs if the circumstances/people are gone and done with.
In any case, you can't hate all of Germany forever because a radicalized segment went crazy in a very specific time frame. It only hurts you in any case... nobody else, including the current Germans, care if you like them or not. They lost that war and were devastated as much as anyone. Yet they managed to build themselves back up into a world power without forgetting or trying to deny responsibility for their actions. To me that's admirable in fact. You pay the price for your actions, change yourself for the better and move on.

Each national anthem must be respected regardless of history. And you don't have to learn me about Poland and Warsaw history. That's all.
Now I'm waiting for Montenegro match. I hope that Hrabri Sokoli will compensate for terrible match against Liechtenstein.

Re: EURO 2016 qualifiers
^ I'm not learning you. I am sharing my observations and years of study and practice in that field. It doesn't even make sense. Of course ideally they should be respected....but we don't live in a world of idealism. Not sure why people get worked up over it. people don't just forget. but yea, go play the advocate of world peace and togetherness
Every single one of us deep down is a bit racist one way or another, and like some group of people more than other. and IT SHOWS UP in large crowds.....
This is football. This is war. if you want everything to be respected and be nice and rosy, bowling seems the perfect sport !!

I know it's from years ago mate. Ideally, everyone moves on and treat each other with respect with no grudges. But people haven't moved on. When Germans still make fun of Poles in their country, it's only natural for them to receive it back there. Hell, there is still annual protest against Ukraine in Warsaw (in second week of July I think) for when Ukraine took 200,000 Polish women and children on hostage 71 years ago. and its UKRAINE...not even the main culprits.
People who have been there then and seen it, don't just forget. It's human nature, no matter how ideal we want to think.
Those rivalries is what make football. Argentina was getting booed in Brazil all the time, and there is no harsh political past between them. Whenever Iran plays Arabic teams, the anthems get booed....there is so many Eastern European games when it happens. Those differences i what make life and football so awesome.
Imagine if everyone was the same and boring....I'd sooner watch paint dry.

Re: EURO 2016 qualifiers
I understand feeling resentment... as you said, that's human nature. But to express that resentment by booing a national anthem during a football game is unnecessary and stupid imo. You're feeding into continuing that resentment and, more importantly, it can become cause for violence.
If you learn to suppress your negative emotions as opposed to feeding them, they'll go away eventually... i have first hand experience with this. But if you keep feeding the negative emotions, you'll never get over it.
Anyhow, i feel that politics have no place in sports to begin with.
And i get no pleasure from an atmosphere created from negativity... that does nothing for me. You can hate each other's teams... but hating each other period is going way too far.

Re: EURO 2016 qualifiers
Rooney seriously needs to buck up. It's not just his general play anymore; the guy can't stick the ball in the net, even when presented a tap in from six yards out. The only thing justifying his spot in the startling line-up is Sturridge being injured.
