Manchester United are in a frantic final push to recoup as much money as possible before the transfer window closes following Ángel di María’s £59.7m arrival by offloading a string of high-earning fringe players, with this driving the decision to allow Danny Welbeck, who could cost up to £20m and earns at least £80,000 a week, to depart.

United’s determination to add fresh acquisitions before 1 September is also behind the club’s intention to sell. Targets considered by Louis van Gaal include Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, who would cost £24m, Juventus’s Arturo Vidal, worth at least £30m, Milan’s Nigel de Jong, valued at £10m, and Ajax’s Daley Blind, who would be at least £18m.

If United were to sell Welbeck, Young, Hernández, Anderson, Kagawa and Cleverley before the end of the transfer window, they would save a total of £463,000 a week. With the potential departures of Nani and Fellaini in the future, this figure could reach a staggering £646,000 a week that the club would save.

Found out? We never even used him enough to rate the guy. He was playing behind Busquets and Cesc, and Xavi in the midfield and was used like once the entire time we had him as a CB. he was coming in to be used as an emergency back up to other roles we already had covered, and he was ok with it. I don't see how that's him being "found out", though I agree that the move itself was retarded.

He was nowhere near as good as Busq which says it all. I'm pretty sure if he was half as good as people are suggesting he wouldn't be currently choosing between 0 game time at Barca and West *bleep* Ham

Not defending Song here, but you are all of a sudden making it seem like us signing a player who was ok with being a back up to the team, that by many has some of the best midfielders of this generation is some sort of knock on the players skill for not being able to bench them. We all know Song isn't that good, but your argument makes no sense.

Liverpool FC vice-captain Daniel Agger looks set to complete a shock cut-price move to his former club Brondby.

The Reds are locked in talks with the Danish Superliga outfit over a permanent deal worth around £3million for the long-serving Anfield defender.

Agger's future has been the subject of intense speculation all summer after he fell out of favour last season.

The £20million signing of Dejan Lovren last month knocked him further down the pecking order and the frustrated 29-year-old signalled his intention to move on.

He has been linked with Atletico Madrid and Napoli but Agger informed Liverpool he had no interest in playing for anyone else other than Brondby in his homeland.

The transfer has been complicated by the fact that Brondby aren't in a position to pay anywhere near the market value for Denmark's captain.

Except Busquetes was the player he would be 'competing with' not prime Xavi

And busq who is pretty unspectacular convinced the coaches that he was by far and way better than Song. So much so, that Song hasn't even gotten a look in

So yeah, going to a club and being unable to even compete with Busquetes, then probably leaving for west ham is not the mark of a very good player for me

What has he actually done in the last few years? I rate players on what they can do on the pitch, not on what other people think they might have been able to do.
