James Wilson
Scored 4 goals yesterday v City in the Manchester Seniors Cup.
I am so excited about this kid. Looks to have it all. Technique, pace, composure, strength, passing, movement and very clinical. We have a player in our hands here
Scored 2 goals for the senior team last season v Hull. I think he is ready for the 1st team this season. He could have a breakthrough campaign like Adnan did last season- He is of a similar talent.
With Chicha's impending departure, Wilson is a capable replacement imo. I rate him very highly.
Thoughts?

Re: James Wilson
absolutely.
someone in redcafe mentioned its 'cheating' to allow him to play in a u21 competition.
thats the kind of talent the lad possess. just 18 years of age and already at the same level of welbeck and may be even a notch higher in that.
He has to come to the fore now and lvg sure will be loving what he is seeing.

The Manchester derby was a great event, scoring four goals and getting the win over our greatest rivals is brilliant. They won the Premier League and wanted to keep success going with the academy. To stop them doing that is great.
the boy has a red heart it seems. loyalty also evidenced by one of his celebrations that is kissing the red devil crest on his shirt. He certainly wont be yet another pogba thats for sure.

Pogbas agent was a massive reason he left but anyways...

Re: James Wilson
Not enough play time even if Hernandez leaves.
Mata(Kagawa)
Rooney(Januzaj)-RvP(Welbeck)
If Kagawa leaves along with Hernandez:
Mata(Januzaj)
Rooney(Young?)-RvP(Welbeck)
LvG seems to like Young too. I hate sending players on loan, but it might be good for Wilson since he's clearly a level above the reserves. Not going on tour hurt him, I know he was injured but it was only a broken finger. Seems like a poor excuse not to take him and he could have really pushed for one of those back-up spots. I want to see him involved vs Valencia though.

Re: James Wilson
I wouldn't mind seeing him going on loan too, if LVG feels it's too early for him to get games in the senior team, or atleast on a consistent basis since we won't have many games next season anyways.
I agree that this kid is far too good for the u21 team. Needs more of a challenge to keep his progression going.

Re: James Wilson
Angelo Henriquez has been loaned out to Dinamo Zagreb which comfortably indicate that Wilson is going to be our 4th striker option. Hernandez is also slated to leave, so its more or less obvious.
game time i think he can earn. He can easily surpass welbeck (and become the back up to rooney) if he show even 60% of the form he is right now showing. In LVG we have got a manager who traditionally trusts youngsters. So thats a gain as well.
januzaj back up to van persie, mata

Re: James Wilson
also loaning the kid to a championship side I am not a fan of that idea.
If its a loan He has to be loaned out to a premier league club. The gulf in quality is pretty big. He has to play at the elite level. He is such a serious talent. Natural heir to one of our existing frontmen. He has to be brought into the scheme of things as early as possible and possibly next season itself. So premier League experience it should be. Soton may be ?? would have been perfect if it was pochettino who was in charge there. hmm

Welbeck is the last player I can think of that had a successful loan to a premier league club when he was sent to Sunderland, it would surely be a relegation fodder team if anything

Re: James Wilson
These lower league English managers like big strong, tall strikers and don't put much emphasis on technique. That's why someone like Rossi never really had a chance when he went on loan, even though he was clearly talented and a beast in the reserves. I fear the same might happen to Wilson, but it is hard to an see alternative. Perhaps somewhere overseas like Germany/the Netherlands or something.

With us letting Kagawa go, Hernandez close to leaving and Young having gone down in LvG's estimations (pls). He has spot on the team now, no need for a loan. Got a lot of time for Wilson.

RVP: 'Falcao must fight for his place, as I also have to. We must duke with Wayne Rooney and James Wilson to see who is playing'
Looks like he is indeed apart of first team plans

Re: James Wilson
tbh thought we had a good strike force to begin the season....didn't think we could drop 2 and add 1 and have a better one
Falcao, RVP, Rooney, Wilson
bah gawddd, that's Galactico level....Wilson eventually will be that level

Re: James Wilson
We will play this season in only 2 competitions, it will be difficult to use all the strikers that we have, someone will be sacrificed. Wilson will probably play the less time and somehow Falcao, RvP and Rooney will be rotated by Louis van Gaal.
Yet, I would like to see Wilson often because he is truly talented and gifted.

Re: James Wilson
Yeah, he might not get a lot time. I guess it depends how LvG uses the team, he might play Rooney as a #10 and Falcao and RvP upfront, for those games Wilson will be on the bench as the only CF. Also, if there is any injuries he could see him self involved a lot, so just in case, it will be good to keep him around the first team. Learning from Falcao, Rooney and Robin van Persie is not so bad after all.

Re: James Wilson
After watching him with the first team as a sub and starter, I think it would be good for him to go on loan. Can't do it this season because we don't have the depth to. I think it's a bit hard coming on as a sub and trying to make an impact. If Falcao is struggling it will be hard to ask of 19 year old to do so.

Re: James Wilson
its the nerves getting the better of him i reckon. He is too eager to prove, as evident by some of his recent actions on the pitch like trying to shoot from long range and all. And its quite understandable.
The kid's legit, no doubt about that. Its the presence of proved and wc players ahead of him on the list hindering his thought and mentality at the moment a little bit. After all he is just 19. Yep either we should get one of them out next season, most probably Falcao (as per how things stand now) and give him more confidence and calmness (assurance) or as you rightly said loan him out to a midtable club which can give him game time if we are after a proven striker next window. Eventually he will turn a very good talent and he will be easily better than Welbeck.

Re: James Wilson
Needs to go out on loan, perferably to a prem club. Get a feel for the league.
He's not ready yet, and from what I've seen, looks out of his depth (understandably).
Promising player who has the tools to succeed at this level and at this club, but not ready for the jump right now.

Well done to him. I thought he played well when he came on. worked really hard, took his goal well and was unfortunate not to get an assist.
