£8m is the figure being touted about. He could be useful in a disciplined role in a 433.. (4123)..

He certainly does offer everything that Arteta lacks, so at 8m it wouldn't be a bad signing.. We all know the type of player he is, exceptionally strong, good in the air, solid tackler, decent distribution - keeps it on the floor.

We also know he's dirty.. with a shocking 42 yellow cards in 107 PL appearances. Only 1 red though suggests that the risks he takes are calculated. I think he would be pretty useful in rotation with Arteta... On the other hand I am not sure how much faith I would put in him against title rivals and in the CL.

For a reported combined fee of 20m though.. Tiote and Manolas would certainly bolster the squad effectively to complete the window... even if it isn't the top tier DM we all wanted. Anyway still, I think this rumours just a case of connecting the dots than having any actual basis. I'm not convinced he's good enough for Arsenal. Also Newcastle would be so stupid to let him go for 8m. Whether or not he's worth that on the market - to Newcastle he is worth that and a lot more.

because he is happy with life? its not even loyalty, him and his family are just settled in germany. He has no reason to move having to deal with all that hassle, pressure and expectation.

On Tiote's discipline record, he's not dirty he's rash. He's never been one to make really bad vindictive tackles.

He has improved that though, last season he had hardly any cards. As for performing against big teams I really wouldn't worry.

He's at his best against bigger teams, but meh against inferior teams so I wouldn't worry about that.

Doubt you actually want him though.

At this point I'm wishing we didn't loan out jenkinson. We could have bought a cb and been set, and chambers could have been DM/CB. But now he's got to play cb and rb, pretty much ruling out him getting any time in midfield this year

I don't think we have to, he could be ready to play backup. But I wouldn't be surprised if we did anyway, although I'd prefer not to so we could have as many bodies available, and Bellerin wouldn't complain about a lack of minutes. Anything would be an improvement for him.
