If & when Chambers move to Arsenal goes through, likely Carl Jenkinson will leave on loan to gain regular first-team football

Anyways, if Schneiderlin is costing a bomb, then might as well move on.
Makes no sense to drop interest in Schneiderlin over price, and then turn attention to a player that'll cost €60mil.
At this point I genuinely believe Wilshere will be used as DM this season, if only because we won't dish out big money for proper one.

Yea same. I hope Sporting can budge over and sell us Carvalho for a decent enough price.
Or we could put in a cheeky loan bid for Kondogbia

how about 35M in two payments for William C?
rather overpay for him than Schneid
younger, higher ceiling and more like a player we need

Chambers close to completion, fee above £10m, terms not finalised. Seen as versatile option RB, CB & more advanced if needed
Actually.. l really like the move if Jenk goes on loan. Chambers can play RB and CB, where as Jenk can't. l want to see him play more as well. Hope he goes somewhere to be a starter.

Also read few people saying Gnabry could be offered on loan to Southampton.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I have been a big, big proponent of William Carvalho coming in for a while now, before the reports and rumors even, just because he seems to tick off every single box we need ... but I really don't see it happening.
All hail the birth of DMJack. Let's hope it works.

@ArsenaIDan 19m
I'd pay £60M for Pogba.
£40M for his talent.
£20M for the reaction of United fans.
Well I'll be damned if that's not the most compelling logic...

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Pogba ain't even all that. Still lacks some consistency in his game.
Would be great if Gnabry goes on loan to a PL side. Just about the time when he should be getting regular game time.

I dont get Pogba link, cost a fortune and he plays quite close to opponent goal which is not what we need.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I would lose it if we actually got Pogba but I think there is 0 chance of it happening and if he did become available we wouldn't be able to compete for wages. Most realistic options are Bender, Carvalho and Schneiderlin would be happy with any of them.
Striker wise I doubt we will pick up a top class CF and most likely will stick with Giroud/Campbell and Sanchez/Walcott if needed.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Looks like Ospina and Chambers will join Alexis and Debuchy, then.
Delightful summer so far:
It's clear from the formation above, that we still need reinforcements - mainly at CB and CM, and possibly up top, although I sense Alexis may become our main striker eventually.
A steady back-up centre-back and a powerful central midfielder (Khedira/Carvalho) or classy DM (Schneiderlin) to replace Arteta is a must.

First, some idle chatter about Wolfsburg's Maximilian Arnold:

Also, get a load of this:

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
We were never in for zaha i am 100% sure of this, this guy was NEVER impressive. He didnt even look good on youtube ffs, to me he looked like a poor mans gervinho. we didnt judge a bullet because we were never really interested.
but i am sure we have dodged many bullets in the past. i cant think of any at the moment though

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
some honest opinion on Chambers from Southampton fan that i follow
interesting to see how Arsene develops him
- Spoiler:
- @DictatePlay wrote:-Chambers was a CM. Not on the radar of many this time last year (Saints fans included). Played RB in pre season due to Clyne's injury.
-During pre season he really impressed, was handed a new contract & Pochettino decided we did not need to buy a second RB.
-Chambers/Clyne debate was really split amongst our fanbase.
-Chambers's height and aerial prowess was a big bonus over Clyne, who is often caught out in the air.
-Chambers big benefit was his ability to defend on the 'inside,' & closer to the CB. Reads the game very well, impressive anticipation etc.
-Contrasted with Clyne whose sheer athleticism gives him an advantage against opposition.
-In line with that, I've seen Chambers struggle when isolated 1v1.
-Offensively is where he has alot of improving to do. Due to orgins as a CM, he often struggled in the tight spaces on the flanks.
-In comparison to Shaw who often thrived in those situations. This resulted in Pochettino directing build up through Shaw & the left.
-At the moment it seems that he lacks attacking instincts. When trailing or chasing a goal, Poch would often bring Clyne on instead.
-Him being a CM only a year ago is evident in that aspect. Has to seriously work on his crossing too.
-And his physique means that he will probably never develop the ability to dribble/run at the opposition or create his own space (finald 3rd)
-Finally, Chambers is not a CB yet. He has never played there for us though he did for the England U19's a few months back.
@stighefootball
Further to @DictatePlay play's comments on Chambers: It may be best if he's left untapped offensively, ideal balancing FB.
-Coaches have said that he may be able to play CB in the future. But it says alot that we were in the market for 2 CBs. (With Lovren leaving)
interesting to see how Arsene develops him
