Koeman has said it's just rumours, though, apparently. Though he also said that no more players would leave before the Lovren deal, and Chambers didn't play against Bouremouth today due to "illness" (Lovren also missed the game because of "illness").

I'm all for having more English talent, though what it would all mean for Jenkinson and Bellerin I've no idea. Maybe we're going to go down the Barcelona route of signing players who aren't centre backs to play centre back, and do everything possible not to sign an actual centre back.

Local Southampton paper says we've yet to formalise an offer, but have been talking with Southampton about a possible £16mil deal.

Meanwhile, Goal.com say it's a done deal for £16mil.

Interestingly enough, it was German paper Kicker that said that we were interested in Chambers earlier today after dropping our interest in Khedira.

I'm guessing £7mil would probably be the initial fee, and there'd be a bunch of add-ons that bumps it up to the £12mil mark. Walcott and Chamberlain deals were structured in the same way.

Debuchy would deserve the bench if he can't play better than a 19 year old and Jenkinson tbh.

I can sort of sympathise with Southampton fans. I had to sit through a summer where Sevilla sold Kondogbia, Medel, Navas and Negredo and Baba and then replace them with cheap players and loans. Unfortunately clubs like that are sitting ducks when they're so many rich clubs about willing to splash the cash.

Happy if we do sign Chambers for <15 Mil has EPL experience and has potential to be a starter. Personally I want to see Jenkinson and Bellerin play a full or half season on loan somewhere. Schneiderlin would be a great addition as well I think if Southampton try stop him leaving he will submit a transfer request, no player would want to play for Southampton after they have sold every decent player they have.

Potentially £55-65mil spent so far. Still could see a CB and DM arrive. Didn't think we'd make more than three signings this summer but could end up with six.

We have over £150m to spend. More even if it comes to that. A DM should be the next target. A CB after that and we are done

Joel Campbell is a striker. Let's not forget about him. And Wenger keeps talking about how Alexis can play centrally, so in his mind there are four centre forwards in his squad.

Chambers is going to be our Phil Jones, basically.
