Re: NEW OFFICIAL: PSG sign Di Maria
You know what I mean, he was the best player in the final and was consistently the best player leading up to it.
He was the player who added incisiveness and pace to a midfield that had none and not to mention he countered the issues of Ronaldo's defensive issues which teams up until that point consistently exploited.
There's no way in hell Madrid win the CL without him, to call him a headless chicken is disrespectful at best.

WHAT? Please, name these games?
There was Bayern at Home (you could make a case for him Coentrao or Benz as who was better on the day.
Everyone was great against Bayern Away, then the final.
3 games? Consistently are best player? Ok then..........
What about the Dortmund games?
The Schalke games?
The Juve games?
Oh please, that's like saying Aguero is the reason City won the league in 2012, ignoring the road and the performances of others along the way to put the team and Aguero in a position where he could make that impact.
It's the equivalent of saying Barca won the CL 2006 because of Henrik Larsson.

You would have beaten Schalke regardless lol, I'm talking about the games that actually matter.
The player that took you beyond the semi finals hump was Di Maria. As I said it's disrespectful at best.
Not surprising though.

Larsson
The revionist disrespect for an ex player is unbelievable, not surprising though.
Ozil and Higuain are now shit apparently, Benzema was shit two weeks ago and now he's god.
Typical Madrid fans throwing ex players or underperforming players under the bus despite how much they have done for them.
I'm out.

So what about Dortmund? Just ignored that did we? Or we're we gonna win regardless as well?
You didn't name anything. Di Maria, Benz or Coentrao were the best players in the 1st leg against Bayern, decide between them who was better.
The WHOLE team was great in the 2nd Leg.
Then, the final where he was best player.
Games that actually matter...... Puhlease. Its a knockout tournament ffs.
No one is even disrespecting him.
If you actually knew what the hell you were talking about instead of scarcely reading your own rubbish, you would know most Madrid fans here say he is the best player in the EPL (Him, Aguero, Sanchez).
But, I should expect as much, for someone who has constantly stated for 3 years now that he doesn't watch Madrid games or La Liga, but yeah, you have an opinion.
Ok then........... Tell us more about how Neymar can't cut it in Barca..... or how Diego Costa is gonna flop hard at Chelsea or last seasons bloviating at how Pool wouldn't make Top 4.
Valkyrja wrote:he could have sent us out against Dortmund tbh
No, he couldn't.
He missed pen, but the team was garbage as a whole on the day.

he missed a pen at 0-0. that could have been vital. he was great in the final, but to say that he was better than Ronaldo over the course of the tournament it's pathetic.

Either way, had the team played up to its worth on the day, the game wouldn't have been so nerve racking.
The team sucked that day.

Pepe and Ramos were pretty good too, if I'd pick one player who won you the semis it would be Ramos, fml
Scored the game saving goal in the final as well

Re: NEW OFFICIAL: PSG sign Di Maria
Problem with Ramos is that his version of a season starts in March/April and before that he does everything to sabotage any chance we have of winning the league
I dont quite get what the discussion is here but in CL our team as a whole was pretty impressive. The most convincing road to a CL title in years
Cant say the same about the league/cup, we had too many underperforming players there and only a handful of players who consistently gave us good performances. Over the course of the whole season I can only name 5 players who were worthy of praise and DiMaria was at the top of that list next to Modric and Pepe who both also had the seasons of their lives

yea ever since their fortunes changed after that horror start to the season, real fans have begun to downplay his contributions. BUt thats hardly surprising IMO.
Their team is playing so supremely right now that its understandable to an extent this change of mind. Theres no time right now to think about di maria. They will need to lose again I guess preferably in the Champions league and go out of it or something to reconsider their stand.

Firstly, most Madrid fans still support Ozil and Higuain. Secondly, no one said that Di Maria is a bad player. He's very good actually, but not the goat everyone is making him out to be.

those most fans don't include myself. I never quite rated higuain, and Ozil has been a dud since he left. Why make them look good to push forth your arguments? and i have no reason for supporting them lol, they play for clubs i care nothing about.

Really? Well, let's look at the 4 names mentioned and end the nonsense.
Ozil; He was praised constantly during his time at Madrid, but his pitfalls were also brought up and many were left confused by his selling. Since he's been at Arsenal (£42.5Mill) What has he done to warrant price tag? Has he even looked like being the player he was at Madrid?
Aren't Arsenal fans constantly getting onto him for not living up to his price tag?
Higuain/Benzema: If you knew anything about us Madrid fans here, you would know that we are split on the issue containing these two. Half of us rate one, the other half rates the other (and a small percentage rate both). Higuain has been good at Napoli, but nothing to shout and rave about.
Di Maria: Majority of the fanbase were annoyed at his selling. We have constantly said that him, Aguero and Sanchez are the three best players in the EPL. We praised his ass off for the shift he put in during the 2nd half of the season and many of us still follow him and support him.
So please, name these Madrid fans who are just shitting on these former players?

Re: NEW OFFICIAL: PSG sign Di Maria
oh and mole, were u the one clowning ozil when madrid was done losing to bayern or dortmund and saying that we signed the wrong german playmaker? pretty sure that when we were making those lists of german players, he was below gotze, reus and Kroos.

Re: NEW OFFICIAL: PSG sign Di Maria
yeah, this whole " these players were worshipped at madrid and now they're harshly criticized " is nonsense .
-higuain was as big of a polarising figure as benzema .
-Di maria was booed by the fans as recently as last season and had many feeling frustrated in key games throughout his 4 years stint .
Ozil was often criticized for ghosting in some big games and his fitness was always called into question .

Re: NEW OFFICIAL: PSG sign Di Maria
I personally don't downplay Di Maria's contributions. I just don't do as fans outside of the RM fanbase and make him seem like he was the be all and end all. We certainly wouldn't have won the UCL without his contributions. Just as we wouldn't have made it without Ramos' legendary equaliser, Pepe's stout rearguard action, Modric's playmaking, Ronaldo's goals, Benzema's overall play, Coentrao's performances, Carlo's astute tactical and calm mind, etc.
As for fans changing their opinions depending on situations, 2 years ago, Mole was praising Pardew. Heavily. Now he probably wishes he just disappears or evaporates and takes Mike with him. Not uncommon for a fan to change their mind on a footballer...
