Agreed. We should not let him leave until the summer when we can recall some of our loaned out players. He had a massive offer in the summer when he was allowed to leave and refused. It should be our turn to refuse offers now with our ban and all.

Yes we are going to be banned but we are also in a position where James serves very little purpose in the team. He will ask the club and as long as they recoup their money they will sell him so that means more minutes for Isco asensio and kovacic.

Chelsea? Juve? he isn't worth more than 35-40M now and I'd be shocked to see him go for more than that

James can be played when we want to rest the whole midfield or the whole attack. I think he could be useful against teams like Depor when we have a tough game straight after and we want to rest our starters. I think he should've taken the hint last season when he never came off the bench against a single big team.

Not coming back early from the Summer break was poor judgement from his end seeing as he had so much to prove. Now I don't think Asensio has played any better than him but Asensio seems to work hard and is happy with what he gets. I do feel for James abit because I have seen his effort increase ten fold since ZZ brought him back from the cold but unfortunately it is not enough

Zidane hates the guy? He gave him a million chances over the past year. In fact, he started out by making him a regular. He just couldn't make his mark. The biggest issue is that he didn't train hard and guys like Isco, Lucas, Kovacic, etc. do. Once he decided that he actually needed to work to get his spot... he had fallen in the hierarchy. So it was up to him to beat the guys in front of him and he hasn't.

Zidane has given EVERYONE multiple chances. He uses everybody. Even this season, he has gotten some chances. He just has looked so average that Zidane cannot justify playing him over some of the other guys.

a valuable lesson here, not to use 5 games as the standard with which to sign a player, especially when that players position is non existent on your team.....but i'm sure very little has been learned from this. and as mentioned, he's gotten many chances to show what he can do, this season and last season as well. its not like he's been frozen out of the squad, it seems he just doesn't work hard enough....and the talent he has doesn't even show on the pitch neither, only in spurts here and there

While that has the potential to be fantastic, it'll take a lot of work from Conte to make that work.

There would be positives and negatives of a deal, it's not simply play him there and we'll dominate.

Good discussion, BUT reality is this team stays the same, with no changes until summer and even then it's minimal changes. A few loanees cooming back and possibly James, maybe Coentrao going elsewhere.

i doubt he'll be sold in january, probably in the summer. but with all the injuries we've faced so far, i don't think we're in a hurry to start letting people go in january

To be fair nothing really needed to be said. Kashima is a joke club, and the fact it took 120 minutes to put them out of their misery probably is a big reason he wants out.

no he didn't. James has been behind lucas and isco (and asensio more recently) in the pecking order since Z took over. you can't prove anything in 10-15 minute camoes when you're already 3-4 goals up.

anyway, who will take him will get a jewel of a footballer. he's insane in that 10 role behind the striker. mercurial talent.

The guy clearly has massive talent though. All the posters wondering about which teams could use him, the answer is almost all of them. Juve, Barca, Arsenal, United, Bayern, City, etc.

If top teams can play Iniesta (he is old now), Turan, Pjanic, Mata, Silva, Douglas Costa, Ozil, etc. then sure as hell can they use James.

^ Surely not United. The Pogba transfer more or less made sure we wouldnt be using a specialist no.10 anytime soon. May be if we switch to a diamond or a 3 man defense then yea probably, but not otherwise.
I think Arsenal is going to be his home from next season especially if they lose out Mesut. He will fit perfectly for them as well.

James doesn't only play in the center. For Colombia most of his games came from the wing, including the world up. He is much better than Mata. If Mata, Martial, rashford, Lingard, etc. can play then of course he can as well.

James would be in the same situation he is in now at Barca. They are even more obsessed with the 433 formation than us. He needs a team that plays with an AM or he wont show his full potential. He is a talented guy but I think he took his status for granted when he came to us. His beef with Rafa was embarrassing for us and that 4-0 loss to Barca after he more or less forced Rafa's hand damaged his reputation with the coaching staff beyond repair. It's not like he's never started a big game. He started in our loss to Atleti last season, he has started in 3 out of our 6 draws this season.

Like Hala said, he is nowhere near his true self if he's played on the wing. It will be Mata situation all over again if he's bought to play as an inside forward and not as a 10. And moreover 4-3-3 require players with pace on the wing, he doesnt have that.
And Martial who you are slating him here is already twice the player Hames is as a winger/wide player. Don't let his current bad form cloud your judgement of the lad.

James isn't a winger, tracking back too much will kill his game. He is a CAM or a right forward.

Don't think it's hard at all, the forwards have a lot of freedom in this system and Hazard needs a better partner at the other side of the field, James being left footed is a plus for me too. It would also greatly improve the creativity to break defensive teams.

Shitty attitude? the guy had always committed to Madrid in every question of every interview, even in this one he said that he would like to stay there. First time he ever publicly says anything, and still never a bad word about Zidane or the team.

That's because he isn't a CM nor a winger, mate. Your system doesn't suits him and he is lacking confidence, you can't expect him to come in and be a world beater, it doesn't work like that. The sooner he leaves the better for him.
