Arsenal have announced the signing of 28-year-old rightback Mathieu Debuchy.
The deal is worth £12million according to various reports.
The defender joined Newcastle United a year and a half ago and has won 25 caps for France at the senior level. Having previously played nine seasons in Ligue 1 for Lille, Debuchy has won a Coupe de France and Ligue 1 title.
Debuchy is also experienced in the Champions League citing it as a reason for joining Arsenal.

Good luck to him, i really like him but i can't blame him for wanting out.
Just happy that we didn't take 6 months to replace him.

Decent piece of business for Newcastle anyway, turned a good profit on a player who, despite his talents, can be replaced.
Solid signing - was getting sick of seeing "set to sign.. any time now" every few hours for the past week and a half. Now for a DM!
Why does transfermarkt.co.uk say that the transfer price was 13.2m? Is it 12 initial and 1.2 in app bonus etc?

Could be. 12m is the fee floating everywhere. Who knows if it's less or more.

Re: Our New Right Back: Mathieu Debuchy
Wenger essentially confirms Jenko is staying.
You talked about Jenkinson, these two will compete at right back in your view?
He is going to compete, of course. There is nobody today who can play 60 games at the top level - that's why you always need two players. People always want for you to have two players in every position or sometimes three, and then they will ask you 'who will play?' You don't know before the season starts but what is important is that you have good players to have a chance to compete at the top level.

Re: Our New Right Back: Mathieu Debuchy
I'd like to keep Jenko.. Wouldn't make sense to sell him now. Doesn't discount a loan though.
The guy is so driven and trains so hard that he will improve, could have a sudden development spurt. I'm not convinced he will ever truly make it at Arsenal but he's certainly worth holding onto for a few more years. I hope he does make it, deserves to.

On the face of it is, we'll have to see how his replacement does though.

Re: Our New Right Back: Mathieu Debuchy
sericeable player... he's not the most gifted. But he'll give you everything he has and he's a warrior. His best asset is on the attack where he has a good cross, a good shot and overlaps very well. He gets caught with pace on defense, which is a bit worrisome with Per on his side. If i'm wenger, i switch Kos to Debuchy's side.

Re: Our New Right Back: Mathieu Debuchy
Thought Debuchy had a decent game on Sunday, but will take him time to adapt to our play. He looked a bit overweight, actually.
