^ seemingly, he was set to join Ajax before we showed interest in Eto'o, and Ajax don't pay high wages at all. their top earner earns like 40k/week.....so I don't think the "Expensive" tag applies to Eto'o now.

Personally think he's made his fortune in Russia now, and doesn't care much about money now. just wants to play and he hates mourinho now which is always a welcome factor.

Eto'o could still get 10 times more money in MLS/UAE/Qatar....if he decides to join us on considerably lower wages, then it'd be impressive.

Well a back-up striker of his calibre (even at his current state) at decent wage is quiet a deal, I agree.

Eto'o is past it and we've messed up our striker business real bad if we're considering him.

I'd rather re-sign El Hadji Diouf than Eto'o, he's a free agent too, you know.

@ Art, suggest a list of strikers who can be realistic options. I'm not elated about Eto'o either and oh, I would much prefer Borini than EHD.

Eto'o in CL: 35 goals and 19 assists
Rest of LFC squad in CL: Less goals and less assists combined.

He scored a 1 in 2 ratio for Chelsea last season...and a lot of them in big games.

He is a twat, no doubt. but we just let go of one. Ideally, we would like someone better than Eto'o, but let's not pretend that he is awful.

Thing is, we don't have to buy Suarez' real replacement this summer if one isn't available. You can always save the money and see if a Suarez/Mata calibre (examples in recent years) becomes available in January due to lack of playing time or etc.

Anyways, I'm confident in our team either way.

Too much Eto'o hate for arguably the best African player ever. He's still only 33 (as far as we know) and you can't even compare his play with Chelsea to his play with Liverpool since Liverpool suits him much better in terms of style and service. He would be a great back-up option to Sturridge this year while we look for a true top talent to replace Suarez.

if we are not getting any top talent right now, I wont mind going with Eto. Not because Eto is any good, but I think we better wait so that we have better options later. And Instead of Bony I would ever go for Eto

Kelly, just because of injury record, we have to sll him for such a low price, i will see if we can do a loan deal and sell him for higher price later. Actually both the ways, it is little risk; but I would still wait but it is certain that he hasnt got a future with us.

If not for Injuries should be regular for both club and England

Hopefully can get his career back on track.

if it is initial 2m and then few add ons, I would say it can be a good deal...who knows how he will turn out with his injuries. Also under Pulis, he will become a very good defender if he plays regularly for them :coffee:

Djaaamn, if that £12m figure is correct, that's very fine negotiation from our part.

Kelly's departure leaves a "what if" taste in the mouth, but it's the best for both parties that he moves elsewhere. Best of luck to him, could be a cracking player for Palace (I just think they should play him at center-half rather than right-back).

And Inzaghi has 70 goals in European competitions, would you sign him? Two words: past it.

^ still scored 9 goals in 16 PL games last season....past it or not Smile
and 3 in the CL Wink

It's not like IF, we do sign, him it'll be for years...it'll be a one year contract. to squeeze that last remaining piece f juice from him. It's all speculation now anyways.

Eto'o: the real worry is if he is sharp (not just fast or strong) enough even as a back-up. What he did in his career or for that matter what he did last year matters nothing when you are on the other side of 30.

Kelly: real sad story. He is still young and if he has the determination, he can still make it in the big time.

Moreno: GBP 12 million (forget add ons)!!! Really!!!

12m is the right price for him. He's not proven, still very young and is coming off a pretty disappointing campaign. Hopefully he steps it up with us.

Ok great to have Moreno deal almost completed!!  cheers

But now the question is with Kelly, Kolo, Agger (likely), Coates (likely) & Illori (on loan) leaving doesn't it leave us with only Lovren, Sakho & Skrtel as 1st team CB options??  scratch scratch

Inzaghi's retired from playing, and over 40 years old.
Eto'o was playing in the CL and competing for trophies just last season, at 33 years old.

Absolute nonsense post from Morte there. Shocking.
