The only guy from Soton I really wanted, Chambers, and we're not in for him when he's available

@svenclaes: Belgian striker signs a 5-year contract at Anfield Road. First year a loan back to LOSC Lille. Just got the confirmation from his dad.
@svenclaes: Pictures and videos will follow soon for the website of @LFC. On Monday Divock Origi will be present at training LOSC Lille.
@svenclaes: Good news for #LFC and his fans. Everything has been settled for the signing of Divock Origi. (19). Passed his medicals on Friday.

Origi may be playing in Liverpool as soon as 2015. He's quite good, and has a lot of talent that Rodgers can groom. No later than 2016 IMO.

I like this signing...we are taking risk on a player and then either we will bring him in the future if he proves out to be good or we will sell him later.
I feel like I am done for this window, cant take it anymore, too many signings in one season. We need to take it slow imo and we will better realise what exactly we need when we start playing in this season.

Agreed wholeheartedly. So why sign someone that's arguably inferior to them for TWENTY mil ffs?

How many times have you seen him play? Legit question. What type of player is he? I only saw him feature once in the world cup...

From relegated WiganArt Morte wrote:I'd be quite happy to start the season with what we've got right now, but have more depth so we could try different approaches.
Reina
Johnson - Skrtel - Agger - Enrique
Gerrard - Lucas - Henderson

Sturridge - Suarez
Some players who'd provide good depth and competition for starting places and alternative tactics & formations:
Micah Richards
Andy Carroll
Raheem Sterling
Jonathan de Guzman
Davide Santon
Shaun Maloney
Ali Al-Habsi
Callum McManaman
Mohamed Diame
Steven Nzonzi
I'd like to see a few of those names on our squad list next season.
I don't watch that much other leagues, so don't really know what sort of players would be available from abroad.
Alternative XI !
Al-Habsi
Richards - Skrtel - Agger - Santon
McManaman - Gerrard - Nzonzi - Sterling
Suarez
Carroll

I didn't mean we should sign all of them back then, though

Also, if that was the season Wigan got relegated, their players would have cost nothing like what we're forking out to Southampton.

He's only seen him in the WC as well. Anyone claiming they saw this kid before is lying.
This is El Hadji Diouf and Asamoah Gyan type signing. I'm not saying their talent level is the same, who knows Origi may actually turn out really good, but we're getting him because he's 19 and he played decently at the world cup.

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
Alberto, Aspas & Andre has already been sent on loan and Aspas will be sold by end of this season. Don't think Alberto has any future either and would have preferred a deal similar to Aspas. I expected Andre to play some part this season as he played regularly (in the championship) last season. If that's not enough, don't know why he isn't being sold altogether. Kelly & Coates should be sold, IMO. Borini deal is hanging and with Ricky, Remy and inbound Origi; don't think he got much prospect here. Finally, Reina seems to have squeezed another year (and several millions) from us. Also, Teixeira & Rossiter should be sent on loan if we want their development to continue.
All in all, there are quiet a bit of clearing to do this season.

We had been tracking him well before the world and tied up a deal with Lille before his breakthrough in world cup. So hardly a world cup signing

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
See above. I saw a few of his games (Lyon, Monaco, Marseilles, Valenciennes) too before the WC and then watched all those games, as a person I know is heavy into L1 and had good things to say about him previous to the WC.
He actually reminds me of a young CR7. Obviously talent and style are one thing, and only time will tell if he can develop that killer instinct and unmatched work ethic to become even close to the player that Ronaldo has been. He has the pace, versatility and talent to become a real great player though. He was mainly used as a winger in L1...I'm pretty confident he'll be here sooner than later.
But I'll defer to James, he knows what's up. If he hasn't seen a player probably nobody has IMO.

Remy move falls through. Make Origi permanent with immediate effect!
nah we gonna bid 20m for Boner now.
Boner and Orgy leading LFC in da future.

Origi is nobody. He has done nothing in Ligue 1... he's played a total of 45 games with LOSC and has 7 goals to his name. No idea what the hype is about. But then again, WC tends to hype these unknown players and 99% of them flop.
Serves Liverpool right for what they did to Remy. He has a frakking heart defect since birth. It's been well documented and known since his youth days at Lyon. How could Liverpool not know about it? Not to mention he's never had a problem with it... ever. If he hasn't had even the slightest problem until now, he's not going to suddenly have one.

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
Uh-oh, this is quite depressing news.
From selling Borini for £14m and getting Remy for £8.5m to Borini refusing the move and/or getting injured and Remy deal called off.
Well, we need a striker. Remy and Bony were pretty much in the same bracket for me, but I did prefer Remy because I thought his abilities fit us better. So, I don't really hope we're going revive our possible interest in Bony - would cost double the money, too. Then again, it's not easy to get a very good striker.

Get in son Dejan
I'm 100% behind him. Can't be any worse than Skrtel. He's already an improvement in my eyes just for being a CB.

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
it was a dream come true for me to watch Lovren and Lallan start against Southampton, but poor Lallana got injured
Now we have already signed a CB
, it will be a piece by piece solution to the puzzle of so many CBs.
Ifti, I liked the way Coates played in the last game, so I am looking forward to more of him in the following games
really sad that Remy deal falls off, it will be again a saga of another striker now.
What else is left, just a LB, right?

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
yh hopefully that helps. I think not only individual defenders but our whole team set up will be more intact this season compared to last season. I am sure BR is growing and learning, so we will certainly improve our defense compared to last season.
I would still not sell any of the Skrtel, Agger...we should wait till Jan window unless a very good offer comes for one of them.

So you have no idea what the hype is about when a guy has played 45 games total in a top team in a top 5 league in the world in his age 17 and 18 seasons? On top of which he has 4 goals in his last 14 games played mostly as a sub and mostly as a winger** in a very defensive and goal-shy league. Then he goes and looks like a monster in the WC and outperforms Lukaku. All of this done mostly before the age of 19 (he turned 19 in April).
**to be clear, not as a traditional winger but more of a wide forward as is fairly common these days
Then you look at his physical attributes (speed, size and strength combination), his talent level and his versatility and it's not hard to see where the hype is from and why Liverpool was actually scouting and tapping him up before the WC even started.
Serves Liverpool right for what they did to Remy. He has a frakking heart defect since birth. It's been well documented and known since his youth days at Lyon. How could Liverpool not know about it? Um...I don't understand what this means "serves Liverpool right for what they did to Remy". Did they wrong him in some way? They tried to sign him and give him a chance at a top flight club and he failed the medical...I don't see how this is some negative thing by Liverpool.
Would rather Lacazette or Bony anyway.
