With the start of the season really close, the elephant in the Emirates is the Centre-Back position. With Mertesacker not coming back to action till at least 4th week of August we will have to go with Koscielny and Vermaelan in a few important games including Man City in the community shield, everton, and two champions league qualifiers. It will be madness starting the season with only two CB.
On a different note
We have seen desperate situations where managers have thrown Centre backs as forwards to bully there way and get a goal. We may see a reversal of it for the first time in Arsenal where Wenger maybe forced to play Giroud as CB. He is good in aerial challenges, has a knack of missing the goal so less chances of Own goals, is strong as a bull. Will only need some lessons in tackling.
