How is messi derserving of it, Jiopsi? He hasn't made the difference since Switzerland... He scored against scrubs and didn't deliver. Mascherano was better for Argentina when it mattered. Neuer, Robben, James and Müller were all better.

Take away the three individual goals from group games, and Argentina don't even get in R16. Involved in the both goals in R16 and QF, 7/8 of all. Against Netherlands he was sole reason for the defending tactics, and buried the first penalty (take notice hair stylist).

I'm curious about people saying Messi didn't deserve to win it. Yea sure, it could have been a lot of people but this is the reality: Messi carried Argentina almost singlehandedly from the group stage to the quarter finals, and every single team effort against him was essentially to triple mark him out of the game. Even against all of that, he still managed to string together nice plays in the semis and the final. Yes Muller scored 5 and got three assists, but the truth is that the entire german team was absolutely great and they were so rewarded with the world cup trophy. However, the Golden Ball is an individual award and I'm not exactly sure how they choose it but Messi had as much of a chance as anybody else in the running (James, Muller, Neuer, etc.) and to say he did not deserve it is just stupid.

So Argentina didn't have a good team? 1 goal conceded in 450 minutes these knockout stages, and they only scored 2... If anyone carried them to the final, it was the defensive unit led by Masche who shows he's WC when playing as a DM
