Passion is one of these terms that's easy to throw around when a team doesn't perform, but what is it, really? Headless running if the game plan's not there? You can have all the passion in the world, but if it's not correctly channeled, it won't help you too much. Passion from Costa Rica and Italy was the same, as far as I can tell, but Costa Rica had a better idea of what to do as a team.

Like Juve, Italy NT is too dependent on Pirlo to set the pace for the team and create. If he's neutralized for whatever reason, it becomes very painful. No plan B out there...

no sense of urgency to get a result. Happy with the way things are. That's no passion to me.

Still quite the vague of a definition.

They simply showed no effort to try and change the situation. They were fine with passing the ball in their own half, thumping the ball up field when they didnt know what to do, content with moving at a slow pace, watching Costa Rica winning nearly every single 50-50 ball, Costa Rica running to the ball quicker. Also, this overall laziness ultimately led to an insane number of offsides. That is, for me, no passion.

What are you talking about? De Rossi was the main man in the England match while Pirlo was played too high to be that effective.
It was set up again to be that way, but Balotelli was too isolated, b/c Prandelli chose to play without a 10 and an 8 and with wingers that are not wingers. And most importantly, Costa Rica defended much better on the flanks than England

It's got more to do with a lack of game plan than passion, really, but I accept passion and true hunger to win the game is part of it.

This is BS, they lost because of the wrong tactics and Costa Rica were fresher. Also, not being able to trap a ball and constantly being offside didn't help them

In today's game there was strangely no attempt to neutralize Pirlo in the first half. Italy was given all the time and space to play the game at their own pace but they still couldn't get any end product out of it.

You really shouldn't underestimate the humidity and heat in which the team had to play.

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
Against England the humidity was 76% and today the humidity was 82% against a team that is way more accustom to those conditions.....the next game might be the only game we play in good conditions which is in Natal if I am not mistaken.

Thats a very poor excuse for that god awful performance.
Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
I think you can lose against Costa Rica in football . But not in this way.
Probably the worst match seen by Italy
Prandelli humiliated tactically from Costa Rica manager
yes, the warm ... but we knew and we should be prepared for it . and then the climate was not so worse than other times

The amount of offsides was disgraceful, granted 3 or 4 were idiotic officiating from the linesman but the whole team need a lesson in HOLDING THEIR MOTHER F*CKING RUN

Exactly. There is no excuse for this.
Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
yes the amount of offside was incredible.
the first offside for us was to first minute.
From beginning to end.
because I have doubts that Costa Rica has the prime Baresi , I am led to believe that our players were really awful
Prandelli confirmed also to have a Balotellicentric vision of Italy , held until the end with the Serie A top scorer benched against Costa Rica for 90 minutes..

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
Lmfao, too many long balls attempted by players not named Pirlo. Too much hoofing, too much slow passing between defenders (Same as Juventus)
Abate was a joke, as was Motta. Seriously, if you want to play tiki taka along the back 4 why even bother starting Abate and Chiellini?
Balotelli as an isolated lone striker is a bad idea because if he's not on his A game, he'll become very frustrated and start acting out. Also it's too defensive of a line up against teams Italy expect to overpower. I mean, Marchisio and Candreva playing as forwards/Wingers. Seriously? Marchisio is not a left forward ffs.
I have never trusted Prandelli, and I still don't.

I know its very early, but leaving Rossi at home never looked so bad.
Literally, every time they disappointed going forward its going to feel that way.

So basically it wasn't England that deserved appreciation for their first game but Italy deserved denunciation for being shit. VAGI

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
the squad didn't know what it had to do in pitch .
this lineup gave results just with England but I begin to think England is not a text so reliable considering their defensive defects emphasized by an awful performance in this Euro by Gerrard
I wonder seriously if Abate has ever gussed a cross in his career, about Chiellini I've always thought he can play well in defence to 3 (as Bonucci) but he has defects as central defender, the only really reliable is Barzagli .. and infact..
This 4-1-4-1 with Marchisio put as winger is hilarious ( even in 2010 he was obliged to play out role , what is the problem with him ? lol He plays well as mezz ala , why hell would change it ? ) I am thinking we should come back to 3-5-2 . At least it's effective...

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
Yeah might as well stick with what the entire back line know at club level
Marchisio on the Wing is retarded, and where are the people telling me Insigne deserved a call up, the guy done fk all outside of a couple good CL performances. He's far too small and weak and literally everything he attempted was terrible.

Because Prandelli can't accept the fact that there are no top wide men in Italy so he tries his best to pretend otherwise and before you know it Candreva and Marchisio are the go-to wide men

Re: Italia: La Nazionale II
" The Tiki Taka is dead "
Prandelli " I have an idea, make the tiki taka"
The change of Prandelli can be summarized in this way
Basically he seems to have suffered of inferiority complexes after that final lost 4-0 , but tbh it's normal to have lost against that Spain , it has nothing to do with the setting game..so we are denatured , in a World Cup where the tiki taka is dead and the counterattack is dominating , where even Louis Van Gaal plays defending and counterattacking, but Prandelli has decided to change our skin and when these things happen you will see inevitably awful hybrid results.
