You can be very happy, because you simply do not need Fabregas, and you will be getting money if he moves.
Just sit back and enjoy. Don't forget the players you have. Ramsey this season ffs, that shot accuracy.
Also what about this Zelalem kid (Berlin REPRESENT!!), rumour has it he's capable of becoming a top central/attacking midfielder soon? Or am I mistaken?

Gazidis was typically positive about transfers at the Q&A, but was keen to stress that we have a "finite" budget and can't be spending too much on individual players. Says we need a backup keeper, a right back and a forward, but not necessarily a midfielder.

Spanish TV catches Piqué telling Del Bosque on audio that Cesc's deal to leave is done for €33million (our buyback fee as well? inb4clutchingatstraws)

Is the profit clause we have so that we take half of the fee or half of the profit? Since the fee is just about the same as the one we sold him for (or less) then would we be making anything if it were the latter?

I heard you get half of the profit, not the fee. Don't know how reliable though, was wondering the same.

Gazidis not mentioning a defensive midfielder is exactly what I expected, Wenger just signed Flamini on three years, he won't sign another DM this summer.

Flamini was signed for two years with an option for a third. Shouldn't matter either way.

And you should really know better than to believe anything the papers say. Just because they latch on to one particular player and regularly cite him as a target, doesn't mean he actually is a target.

fkhanage doesn't really deal in transfer news. He goes to a lot of these Q&As, so it's not impossible that he's talked to someone involved with the club.

Still, it's best to take things with a pinch of salt, as always.

Flamini himself said he rejected all 2 year offers. We signed him for 3 years according to Guardian and everyone else. I hope it's 2 though.

If the fee is €33million, shouldn't we have made it harder for Chelsea, gotten them to up it or something by threatening to use the buyback? We would have benefited there.

I don't see why Barcelona would up the asking price if we said we were going to use the buy-back. It doesn't matter how much any other team offers, it's a set amount they have to accept from us. If anything, us saying no benefits them more, because then they're free to dictate their asking price.

I hate the whole situation, tbh. We don't need him, despite the love we have/had for him. We don't want him anywhere near our rivals.

And that puts that one to bed. Good to know we've got our priorities straight, though it's slightly worrying that a defensive midfield doesn't appear to be on the list. I guess backup keeper, right back and striker are the most pressing concerns at the moment, so maybe after those signings we'll get a defensive midfielder and winger as well. I remain hopeful.
