Poor by Vertonghen. Wasn't expecting him to make a calamitous error that the other Spurs defensive players made during the year but perhaps it's like a virus. He is playing LB though, which is a position he's competent at but not great at.

This Belgian team is slow. Lack of good link up play as well. They need to get Dr Bruyne and Hazard in better positions.

Why do Belgium insist on playing so slowly? Every time a player receives the ball, he has to dwell on it at least for a few seconds. Also, why don't they play wider with Algeria crowding the center? Stupid manager they've got.

What he means Hans is that 14 of the 23 players on the Algerian NT were born in France.... Typically, such players choose Algeria because they don't feel that the path to France NT is attainable for them or they don't want to wait for it and prefer immediate rewards of NT football with Algeria.
