Re: World Cup: Group F discussion
Messi being out performed by Fulham's own Ashkan Dejagah
Argies showing that no matter how many creative players you have it's very difficult to break down 2 banks of 4. If Iran had Uruguay's strengths in attack they would be winning this.

Dejagah is no nobody.
Starter in the notorious Under-21 European Champions team alongside Özil, Neuer, Hummels, Boateng, Khedira, Höwedes

Messi saving Argentina. What a goal.
Iran outperformed Argentina in every way though. Deserved a point at least.

Re: World Cup: Group F discussion
Iran needed to have a second defender near Messi there, but I guess they were too tired to mark him as vigilantly as before. What a shot by the little guy, though, and another dramatic ending to a match in this WC.

Re: World Cup: Group F discussion
Have to change my mind about Argentina winning the WC. The midfield is absolutely garbage along with the defence. Aguero doesn't seem fit at all. Higuain is Higuain.
Messi can win them the WC single handedly like he won the match today but that's a big ask

Strange. I guess they didn't play bad like that during the qualifiers?

It's WC 1986 all over again. 28 years later we have come back to win the world cup with a ONE MAN TEAM.

Argentina would have been out of the WC by now if they faced Mexico and CroatiaFußball wrote:Ganso wrote:1-0 vs Iran,2-1 vs Boznia

And just how many creative players does Argentina truly have? Two: Messi (who is also carrying the goalscoring burden) and Di Maria. Gago and Mascherano could've played another 3 hours without supplying a penetrative pass. Rojo is incompetent offensively. Higuain is managing to play with the technique of a sunday league player and Aguero is as mobile as a rock for some reason.
Add to this the overall languid pace of play and laborious buildup combined with Iran's defensive approach and this match shouldn't surprise anyone.
Iran correctly allowed Rojo the most freedom on the ball. Of course, if any one of the number of free headers that Argentina had from set pieces would've been converted, it might have been different.

Why are people surprised by Argentina's performance? They are a counter attacking team. Of course they're gonna look clueless when a team parks the plane.

maybe we don't need to make another thread, but surely Iran deserve some respect, all they're asking is just a little bit R-E-S-P-E-C-T

nah Argentina 99% of the time dominate Mexico unlike Brazil
and Argentina would also love to FINALLY play a team that likes possession football so they can finally start countering (croatia)
