The Only One - Jose Mourinho - Page 14 Empty Re: The Only One - Jose Mourinho

Post by Onyx Fri Aug 10, 2012 12:53 pm

José Mourinho faces his third season leading Real Madrid. He does it "excited after two years in which this team has gone from strength to strength and has always won a title". One day shy of concluding the American tour, the White's coach reflected on the pre-season and analysed the campaign about to commence with the first fixture of la Liga against Valencia August 19 in the Santiago Bernabéu. "We're going to fight for each match and each title with all our might. You can't promise more because there are factors that you can't control. This sport is and always will be a game and games are unpredictable. I like reducing this uncertainty to an absolute minimum and having Real Madrid win many more times than not. We want to want to win titles again and return to Cibeles, which is the best end to a season you can have".

What's your assessment of Real Madrid's tour in the United States?

It hasn't finished yet, but it's going well. We worked hard and well in the first period and later the games have turned out how we wanted them to. The first fixture was against an American team that was more worried about playing well and allowing good play. The next match was more complicated, more competitive and intense, against a Mexican team. Later, we played a top level European team in a stadium that we new would bring motivation on the one hand and responsibility on the other. It was good for us and now we're going to finish by playing a team with a completely different profile that plays a British style of football. We're playing well, once again putting together the pieces of a machine that was already working well and trying to step up our intensity and confidence. We're preparing ourselves as best as possible to start well.

Many players have pointed out that this team is well established and that two years of work are paying off. Is this team really so united?

It helps when people know each other and get on well together. The players might have been together for a long time but if there's no empathy and pleasure in working together you have a bigger problem than when you're putting together a group. We all get along well, we know each other well both on a personal level and in terms of football. They know the way I work and my ideas and I know them, their great qualities and the small problems that always exist. We're excited about our third year after two in which we've gone from strength to strength and have always won a title. Last year's was more important than the one the year before. That's where we are and it's a shame that the national teams are leaving us in a complicated situation next week before the championship begins. That's the calendar. We knew about it months ago and we've tried to organise the pre-season in a balanced way so that the players can start, perhaps not all-out, but well.

Much has been said about the goal-fest against Milan and the play deployed by your team. Did José Mourinho expect Real Madrid to respond in this way at this stage in the preparation?

We played well. We won the match and I think that for the players the stadium was an additional motivating factor. The stadium was packed with fans and people that feel a special connection to the team because they don't live in Spain. Another motivating factor was the reputation of our rivals and we played all-out and prepared really well. The result is rewarding but not essential. What's essential is that we play well and we did it at a level at which we played many times last season. They are small factors that add to the confidence this team already has.

In the game against Milan, were we seeing the Real Madrid of Mourinho's third year?

I don't know. We played the first half well against a very closed team that came on with very defensive play and many players at the back. It made us think about our play. That's going to happen to us a lot with teams that are going to lock down against us. When we scored the second goal in the second half and they wanted to attack, the game profile changed. They played more offensively, leaving a lot of space for our transitions. It was a rich game in a tactical sense to train us.

There are many people that wonder why you enjoy coming to the United States so much for the pre-season. In New York, in the Yankee Stadium, we saw many reasons to do it...

The people that ask me that only do so once. The president asked me and after coming he's never asked me again. This time he came with us and we've loved having him. He's not going to ask me again why I want to come because he's going to enjoy coming back himself. With the exception of Philadelphia, where we knew what the temperature would be like, the climate is perfect for working. The organisation is perfect, the matches are good, the stadiums and the fans motivational. We promote Real Madrid in an important market, we promote football in a country where it isn't the top sport. I also think it's good for the club economically... It's also perfect for the players on the Spanish national team because they're going to stay and head from here to Costa Rica, which is much closer than if they had to return to Europe and it saves them some hours of travel. It's perfect for everyone and it's a great experience. I've been doing it for seven years and I want to continue because I like it a lot. Whoever comes never asks again.

They also like you a lot here. In the Yankee Stadium we saw a banner where they proposed you for president of the United States...

It must have been a friend of mine doing propaganda.

Lastly, what message would you send to the Real Madrid fans in your third season leading Real Madrid?

I hope that nothing changes, in the sense that my Real Madrid has always been a team that stands up to their rivals and has always fought every minute. Whether this team has lost, drawn or won, they have always felt a great responsibility in representing and fighting for an institution such as Real Madrid in every match. We're going to fight for each match and each title with all our might. You can't promise more because there are factors that you can't control. This sport is and always will be a game and games are unpredictable. I like reducing this uncertainty to an absolute minimum and having Real Madrid win many more times than not. We want to want to win titles again and return to Cibeles, which is the best end to a season you can have.

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho, has surprised with statements to Lusa SIC television that has challenged the nickname the press gave him during his time in England. The Portuguese considered that no longer should be called 'The Special One', but should start calling it 'The Only One' ('the only').

"In England I was introduced as a 'Special One', but thank God things have gone well and like it or not just me who has won the English championship, Italian and Spanish . should start calling me 'Only One' , unique, "he jokingly said the Portuguese, who believes that over the years and the successes it has become a person" less selfish and egocentric. "

Post by halamadrid2 Mon Sep 03, 2012 10:45 am

wow Mou ripped our team into pieces in post-match presser

"We have a squad of of 20 outfield players and three goalkeepers. Nacho will be part of the first team. Morata, Jesús and Nacho can play with Castilla, but they are first team players. They all give us solutions, they all give us options they are all are important to the team because we have a reduced squad".

The coach of the Spanish Super Cup champions offered his assessment of the how the match went: "I did not like the way the team was playing, we had little ambition and not very much pace or intensity. A week is a very short space of time to achieve something in if you compare it with other areas in society and we have to make good use of our time. It is not enough to just win, we have to play better than we did."

The´ 'Whites’ coach wants to see the same level of commitment offered by the team in the match against Barcelona in every match: "I've seen a team that played to their limits against Barcelona from the first minute but in the league they have not done so. It is difficult to explain why. These are things that I have to figure out and work on. The team’s ambition and motivation are not as high as they could be and last season we wanted score more goals and kill the game off as early as possible. If we scored a goal we wanted to go and get the second. I cannot say that any one player had a bad game or showed a bad attitude, because it is not true, but I want more. The team has to work harder and have more intensity, that’s why I am not happy."

Mourinho spoke about Modric, who played his first game as a starter: "I am happy. He is not in a physical state to be able to play in other positions, so he takes a little more time to recover and does not work too hard in defence. He played for 45 or 60
minutes which was good for him. Now he will be the national team and it will be good if he keeps playing. Hopefully we’ll be lucky and he will get lots of pitch time because he has had a long time without playing, but gave a good performance against Barcelona and it was hard to play today his best when his team didn’t play very well."

He also had a few words to say about the Whites latest signing, Essien: "He has come on loan, he did know what he was going to get out of it, he came a bit in the dark, with the hope of helping out, to be useful and to try for Real Madrid to be able to keep him on at the end of the season. To me it is a fantastic move for the club." Another name that was mentioned in the press conference was Kaká: "Neither he nor anyone else is a dead-weight. Today we went in another direction, Benzema, Callejón, Modric played and we also wanted to give some stability to those that played against Barca. The three who were left out were the first choices, but a time will when Kaká will be an option."

Mourinho commended the changes to the squad made on the transfer market: "I have to reiterate the opinion I have about this president, the CEO and the board. This transfer period has been an example to society, demonstrating respect for the economic and social state of Europe, spending less than we have earned and doing two fantastic deals with Lass and Granero. They were in the final year of their contracts and in January they could have negotiated with another club. They could have turned down renewal deals and could left on a free transfer. We had the intelligence and acumen to make the most out of two players who have not wanted to renew."

Finally, when asked about the performance of the opposition Mourinho praised Granada and Anquela: "They are a team with a good coach and they are well organised, they are at the top level of football. Their team can play well or badly, with more or less talent, but always they are organised and know what to do on the field. They knew they had to play a more defensive match. Pepe and Marcelo played pretty well and they kept away from the goal. When we scored the second goal it became harder for them, but I think they are will do stay up in the end."

Man, the guy sounds very annoyed at our team atm, well he should be some players are just playing horribly bad atm

"We are talking about Barcelona and Real Madrid, two great teams. Pick any other team in the world, and they would not finish in the top two in La Liga," Mourinho told AS.

"And that's exactly why I joined Real Madrid. Because it's not easy to challenge Barcelona. It's very hard to be successful in this competition.

"Life's much easier in any other league. Any league where you are not locking horns with Barcelona is easier. Barca are the main reason why Madrid got to where we are now, because they set the bar very high.

"Barcelona's era of winning consecutive Liga titles is over, but their cycle has not come to an end yet. They are still a great team and so are Madrid.

"The rivalry between Madrid and Barcelona is a blessing for football. I don’t have any figures but I’m sure the Spanish Supercopa had a bigger audience than many Champions League games last term."

Mourinho sues Marca editor:

Jose Mourinho has filed a civil lawsuit against Marca editor Roberto Palomar for making defamatory comments in an article about Real Madrid coach.

The journalist published an article on September 17, where he referred to the Portuguese coach as "the type of person who leaves after causing an outrage".

Mourinho feels Palomar has crossed the line with his choice of words, and has subsequently decided to take legal action against the Spanish newspaper.

"This expression is objectively vexatious and the use of it was completely unnecessary to achieve the objective of the article," a statement from Mourinho's legal representatives reads.

"Mourinho is fully aware of the importance of the right of freedom of expression, and has not and will never take legal action against rightful criticism."

The 49-year-old previously sued El Pais journalist Charles Bouvier for calling him a "Nazi Portuguese".

Post by Onyx Wed Sep 26, 2012 6:29 pm

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has launched a scathing verbal attack on the club and the behaviour of Jose Mourinho and Florentino Perez.

The 61-year-old left his post at Madrid in 2009 and was replaced by assistant Vicente Boluda, before Perez was later installed as his long-term successor.

But despite having severed his ties with the club over three years ago, he has been quick to give his opinion on a number of different incidents involving Los Blancos in recent months.

"I know many people inside the club [who say] that Mourinho and [agent Jorge] Mendes act as if the club belongs to them," he told Al-Watan.

"The problem comes from the strange silence of Florentino Perez, that is what really bothers me."

Calderon, who now works as a lawyer, then expanded on his apparent dislike for Perez and suggested his popularity is a result of his close relationship with the Spanish media.

"Mourinho or the players can be [criticised], but Florentino's strong relationships with the media prevents him from being criticised," he added.

"There are a number of journalists who have lost their jobs because Florentino Perez was attacked."

He concluded by giving his thoughts on the recent furore surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo's unhappiness at the club and advised the Portuguese international to concentrate on football.

"Cristiano, like all other human beings, is exposed to all kinds of feelings and sensations," he explained.

"Because of the comments he made to the press, everything is amplified.

"Why is he sad? The reason is unknown to me, but the important thing [for him] is playing well and scoring goals."

Post by Onyx Sat Sep 29, 2012 10:17 pm

Speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s Assembly of Delegates on Sunday, Florentino Perez revealed that Jose Mourinho had some troubles settling in at Los Blancos.

The construction mogul underlined that the job of the head coach at the Spanish capital club is very challenging and requires adaptation on behalf of the trainer, which did not come easy for 'The Special One'.

"'Mou' took a while to understand what Madrid is. He's coached in Portugal, Italy and England but this is something else. This is Madrid. We understand our own culture. But those who come in from outside don't understand it," Perez told AS.

"When 'Mou' arrived, he clashed with the club, the people, the fact that the fans would whistle at some players or even the coach. That's even happened with some recently arrived players and they've got it wrong a number of times.

"But they've learnt. 'Mou' knows he's worked at a number of clubs at the highest level. But as I tell him, Madrid comes first, next and after that. That's the distance between us and the rest."

Perez also conceded that the club passed on the chance to sign Manchester City star David Silva before they opted to buy Mesut Ozil from Werder Bremen.

"I believe that we have best squad in Madrid's history. We could have signed Silva, but I preferred Ozil. Silva is a great player, and on top of that he is Spanish. We like great players."

The club president also had a word on Brazilian star Kaka, who has been linked with an exit from the Madrid club.

"Great players and Ballon d'Or winners like Cristiano and Kaka make it possible to make more revenue. In some cases, they have bad luck and suffer with injuries. We hope to have Kaka great again."

Post by Kuru Sun Sep 30, 2012 3:58 pm

Jose Mourinho says Zinedine Zidane left his role as director of football at Real Madrid two months ago and rang him personally to make him aware of his decision.

Reports suggested that a rift had developed between the Portuguese
coach and the Frenchman after Zidane made efforts to distance himself
from the first team, a move which was supposedly against the wishes of
the Madrid coach.

Zidane
later denied that he had fallen out with the former Chelsea and Inter
boss and implied that he was still keen on working for the club this
season, but Mourinho has now revealed that the 40-year-old has not been
involved with Los Blancos for some time.

“It has been
two months since he said goodbye to us, saying he was looking for
happiness, somewhere he would be happy," Mourinho told Marca.

“He has decided to be a coach and that’s that. It’s something public, that everybody knows.

“His integration into grassroots football has been made public and he is getting ready to coach in France."

Mourinho also stated that he did not understand why the story had only just been revealed.
“This story came out very late and I don’t understand it. He made his decision more than two months ago," he added.

And he just drove out Zidane too, what a great coach!

The Only One - Jose Mourinho - Page 14 Empty Re: The Only One - Jose Mourinho

Post by Onyx Mon Oct 01, 2012 8:39 pm

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has claimed that people regularly insult him and his children when he attempts to socialise.

The Portuguese boss has developed a reputation as a controversial figure due to his outspoken nature, and his stay in the Spanish capital has witnessed several fierce battles with main rivals Barcelona.

And he has now revealed that he is routinely targeted by the public, who have also taunted his children when he is with them.

"I hate my social life," he told CNN. "I hate not to be a normal father who goes with his son to his football match and be there with the 20 other fathers watching the game.

"The people have to come for photos; the people have to come for autographs; the people have come to insult me; the people have to go behind the goal of my kid to insult a 12-year-old kid.

"People think they know me, but they don't. People know the manager, especially the manager during 90 minutes. And during 90 minutes, I'm not there to have fun.

"I'm there to do my job, I'm there to win. I'm there with my team to try to win. I'm there and I live the game. I live the match as if it was the last of my career.

"People look at me and see what they see. It's the other place where people know me."

Having ended Barcelona's stranglehold on the Liga title, Mourinho is currently bidding to bring home los Blancos' 10th Champions League title, but does not feel his spell at the club will be deemed a failure should he not manage to do so.

"Will I see my stay here as a failure? No. In relation to the Champions League there is an edge where the difference between succeeding and not succeeding is very narrow," he added.

"The world will consider it a failure because I won it so many times and brought so much success to my teams that everyone is probably expecting that."

Florentino spoke about Mourinho this morning at a socios meeting:

"We have the best coach in the World, he's been suffering unfair attacks, even some against his dignity as a person, so, José Mourinho, you have all my trust, my gratitude to your work and all my affection" (standing ovation from the Socios)

This is a big slap in the face of Marca and all the rumour peddlers.

For the sake of Madrids already downhill reputation due to Mourinhos antics, why would Mourinho getting charged help Barcelona? I like him making a mockery of himself especially to Madrid's supporters but it is rather shameful, if all of this is true that is, which doesn't sound likely but not unbelievable.
