Re: No Barkley to Arsenal :)
Barkley is developing into a real beast but I don't think he and Ramsey would work as a pivot.
Still, I respect the Prediction Power of Boyzis.

Barkley's not a CM and should never be a CM. A pivot of him and Ramsey would be ridiculously lacking in balance, unless you want to stifle Ramsey's influence in forward areas completely, and would make it more likely that the opposition run riot between our midfield and defence than us doing the same to them.
Wouldn't be a wise use of £35mil, really.

bro
i suggest you see madrids mid against bayern both matches
xabi DM
modric CM ( mid field runner)
Di Maria/Isco CM (mid field runners)
What appeals me is that both ramsey and barkley are runners and their attributes are quite similar. combining them both is going to work wonders because that will happen keep our defensive shape quickly to prevent quick counters and ability to hold ball in opposition half.
Who said barkely is CAM. he can play any position in the midfield.

I like wilshere. He has had injuries after injuries to hinder his growth. Hopefully he comes back stronger (ala Ramsey).

Re: No Barkley to Arsenal :)
barkley is only good when teams come on to everton and he can run into the space, he's not good at opening teams up that sit deep. he's decent but he is getting overrated, many games this season he has been awful. mind you, wouldnt mind him at arsenal but we have too many players in his position, he's just not needed.

Midfield shape when you're defending is not the same as when you're going forward. On the face of it, Madrid's midfield looks imbalanced, but against Bayern they played deep and compact, with Modric very disciplined alongside Alonso, who operates deep on a regular basis and seldom ventured out of his own half. Isco played a more defensive role on the left hand side. This isn't how they usually play. In La Liga, they allow Modric to venture forward more while Alonso sits, so they don't lose that balance.
In a Ramsey-Barkley pivot, there's no player who's going to sit and protect the defence. They can charge around the pitch closing down, they can track back and all that, but that doesn't give you defensive stability. If the opposition bypasses the initial press, they'll exploit the space behind the midfield. And if you get one to sit, you waste their talents in forward areas.
I've followed Barkley from youth level to his breakthrough this season, for club and country, and he's mainly played, and excelled, as an attacking midfielder, and rarely played deeper. His movement is that of an attacking midfielder, not of a box-to-box central midfielder like Ramsey. Barkley likes to find pockets of space between the oppositions midfield and defence; Ramsey likes to come deep to get on the ball and start attacks, and then make late runs forward.
Now, if you added a defensive midfielder to play behind them, then yeah it could work. But those two in a pivot behind an AM just lacks the balance to be effective.

Although I like the guy, he is not needed. We already have Wilshere.

Pretty much this. Barkley might work quite nicely in a system like ours, where you have one holding midfielder (Gerrard) and two hard-working, skillful CMs in front of him. But you've already got Ramsey, Wilshere, Rosicky and Oxlade for those kind of roles. If you're going to buy a midfielder, it should be a replacement for Arteta (and competition for Flamini), not an attack-minded player like Barkley.
