Re: OFFICIAL: Bielsa to OM
The best part is that Bielsa controls all football operations including transfers... he's cleaning house too.
OM gave him complete control.

It certainly looks promising but I'm not sure what objectives they've set for him. I certainly don't think they'll topple PSG.

Re: OFFICIAL: Bielsa to OM
He was able to compete with Barca and Madrid with no means and the cultural player limitations of Bilbao... i don't see any reason he can't compete against PSG and Monaco.
Also remember, OM has a 20-40 mil net summer budget every season (depending on CL qualification). You're not going to buy Cavani with that obviously... but you can go to South America and pick off some great uknown talents like Porto and Benfica do regularly. That's already what Bielsa is doing right now. You can also do very well with that money in France since players are pretty cheap to buy.

Re: OFFICIAL: Bielsa to OM
If those players don't get bought off by PSG after 1 good season, you mean. But yeah, I see what you're saying though. And since when have OM had that much to spend every summer? Forgive my ignorance, I was of the impression they were in some debt about 2 seasons ago or so.

Re: OFFICIAL: Bielsa to OM
No we always spend... we just got into trouble after the summer of 2011 because we splashed huge that summer. Spent 20 mil on Gignac and 20 mil on Remy in that window... and then turned around and finished 10th for the 2011-2012 season and missed CL. Management was counting on at least finishing top 3 and that brought our revenues down by 20 mil so we had to compensate in the summer of 2012 by doing nothing. Summer of 2013 was back to normal and we bough Thauvin, Lemina, Benjamin Mendy, Imbula, Payet, etc. for about 40 mil total.
New stadium is increasing revenues too and it's only 1/2 finished.
We actually had more revenue than PSG in 2012 with 136 mil for that year. But after that, PSG went crazy and are north of 350 now. We're top 15 in Europe in revenue last i checked.
Just crappy management. Money isn't the issue.

Re: OFFICIAL: Bielsa to OM
lol @ the Bielsa skepticism in this thread.
He's revolutionized the game as a manager bruh. Bielsa disciples ftw.. Cholo Simeone, Pep, Sampaoli, etc. etc. all have thanked Bielsa in the past as a huge influence to their current systems. Bielsa did it first and paved the way for these now GOAT headcoaches to keep doing it.

I too am a Bielseaista
The only issue will be keeping the players motivated. There's only so many three hour video sessions a player can go through before losing his mind lol.

With Bielsa, it's either about watching the videos or running extra laps... there's the motivation

Re: OFFICIAL: Bielsa to OM
This should be good. Bielsa converted me with his accomplishments and style at Bilbao. Seeing him take over Marseille with a new crop of young players, good financial backing, and hopefully full control over transfers is a very exciting prospect.

Re: OFFICIAL: Bielsa to OM
He only signed a 1 year contract (2nd year is his option to trigger) and has already had a very public faceoff with the club president unfortunately... i don't see him staying past this season unless there's a reconciliation between Lebrune and Bielsa.donttreadonred wrote:This should be good. I think if OM finished great, a bigger club would come after him.
