Who was MOTM?
Guangdong v Liverpool - Post Match thoughts
very 1st game of 2011/12 season.
3-4
hard to take out too many things out of those kind of games, especially cause its the 1st game of pre-season, and because we we've had 12 substitutions.
but still, it was nice to see some very good moves at time, Carroll on the score-sheet, Adam spraying some lovely passes, Aqua's swag........
less pleasant to see us concede that many goals...

Re: Guangdong v Liverpool - Post Match thoughts
6 players that played today came from the academy. (Wisdom; Flanno; Robinson; Coady; Spearing; Kelly)
Another 4 came from the reserves. (Pacheco; Shelvey; Wilson; N'gog.)
Adam had a decent game. Started rusty, was whipping balls all over the pitch after that. Maxi/Kuyt did okay on the wings. They (Maxi/Kuyt) need game time though. Adam's passes will then connect properly. Aquilani did well. Long passes were awesome.
Dissapointed with Kelly, but he just came back to injury.
Carroll was okay. Scored one, fair play to him. A few of his shots were terrible though.
N'gog, Poulsen and Cole. Bar Poulsen, they worked hard today. Cole's crosses were okay. I'd still sell them all.
MOTM... I'd have to give it to Jones. Only man on the pitch not to concede.

Late Guangdong goals were beautiful. Entertaining match. Aquilani, Ngog, Robinson, Coady, Andy, others looked very good. Off to Malaysia.

Liverpool -
Peter Gulacsi - 6 - Good solid display, Good distribution, Could have done better in the first goal.
John Flanagan - 7.5 - Its a friendly? No it isnt, Flani completely owned their Nigerian winger both technically and physically.
Danny Wilson- 6 - Very quite, Did his job when needed to.
Jamie Carragher - 6- Same as Wilson.
Martin Kelly -7- Runs, Crosses , Tackles, Everything you need, We missed you Kelly.
Jonjo Shelvey - 7 - Good distribtuion, Not afraid to take things on. Could have done better with the pass though which got the first goal.
Jay Spearing - 7.5 - Boss.
Christian Poulsen - 6 - Got a goal, And was anonymous after that.
Joe Cole -7.5- Great game. Very positive.
David Ngog -7- Caused their back line some trouble.. I think it was a decent shift by the lad.
Daniel Pacheco - 6- Doesn't take his chances.
Substitutes-
Bradley Jones - 6- CLEAN SHEET FFS!
Martin Hansen - 5- Couldn't have done anything with those goals.
Daniel Agger -5- Very poor, Got completely owned in the third goal.
Conor Coady - 7 - Good display by the lad, Gets caught out of position.
Sotirios Kyrgiakos - 5- Poor as well, Slightly better than Agger maybe.
Charlie Adam - 6.5 - Rusty, But excellent awareness.
Andrew Carroll - 6- Got a goal but poor throughout.
Dirk Kuyt - 5- Would be unhappy.
Andre Wisdom - 6- An on off showing by the lad, Could have done better with the second goal.
Jack Robinson - 8 - Great display by the lad, Who needs Cissokho?
Alberto Aquilani - 6.5 - Rusty but had ideas, Id like to see what has to offer.
Maxi -4 - FLOP.
Some more points id like to mention. Ill do that in another post.

Re: Guangdong v Liverpool - Post Match thoughts
I don't think Jonjo was that good. quite sloppy with some passes and of courseh is mistake led to their first goal.
think Robinson was fantastic throughout the second half both in defense and attack...Adam started great with some lovely balls, but faded out as the game wore on. Spearing started poorly, but after 15 minutes, absolutely bossed the midfield with some great movement
Robbo gets my vote

Re: Guangdong v Liverpool - Post Match thoughts
I think the first half defense played quite well - come to expect more from kelly though. shelvey and spearing impressed in midfield, cole was actually quite good, especially in possession. thought andy had a decent game, but we'll want more from him, adam was good but clearly the whole team needs match fitness for him to be effective, and aquilani put in a very good game. other than that, nobody stood out for me, except for agger getting owned by their striker for that third goal... if he makes those mistakes against premier league clubs, we'll have some problems. but we know what he's capable of, so i'm not too worried about him.

Two points -
Jova and Raul were not present in the squad. Jova hasn't traveled but why not Raul?

It's a good thing that Cole & Aqualini put on a good show. If they can keep up the good work, some good offers will certainly come within August 31, 2011.

in the itw where he said he wasnt gonna get sold, he also mentionned that he was recovering from an ankle problem.Nishank wrote:Two points -

(so i guess he wasnt 100% fit for this game, and there was no need to risk him only for a pre-season game)
as for Jova, hes certainly on the move.
ive seen Lille & Anderlecht rumours yesterday..
