Re: La Liga 2013/14 Discussion Mk. 3
Barcelona star Lionel Messi has taken to Chinese social network, Weibo, to issue an apology to fans for not having won any trophies this season, whilst also assuring that he’s never had any intentions of leaving the Catalan club.
With the season over and with no silverware to boast, Lionel Messi took to Chinese social network Weibo, in order to offer his apologies for what he acknowledged has been a difficult season for everyone, but remaining convinced that things will be much better next season.
“Truthfully, things haven’t turned out as well as we expected. It’s been a tough year personally and as a group. We all had the opportunity to achieve one of our objectives in the final game and we couldn’t make the most of it.”
“All I can do is to ask the forgiveness of the Barcelona fans and to promise that next season, we’ll get back to the high level of this club and achieve important things.”
As for his own future, Messi assured that he’s never had any intentions of leaving Barcelona,
“With respect to myself, I’m very happy to stay here at my home, as I’ve always said. Maybe this year wasn’t what we’d expected and it wasn’t my best either, but I’m convinced, just like the rest of the group and personally too, that things will be different.”
“It’s the people of Barcelona who decide my future, but my choice is to continue because I still feel the same affection from them as always. Even if that wasn’t the case, I’d still seek a solution, because I always want the best for this club.”
Later in the day and according to local broadcaster TV3, Messi has also now signed his contract extension ahead of linking up with the Argentina squad for the World Cup in Brazil.

Not so appalling considering they're ARE midfielders outside Modric that perform in La Liga. I would take Modric over Koke in the chart yet Ander being missed out is an even bigger folly.Yohan Modric wrote:No Modric in the team of the season.

For all of Messi criticism, I still belive that he should be on the best 11. I don't care if Messi has been walking in a couple of games, he still has scored 28 goals and has 11 assist in 31 games. We have fought for the title until the last day! And that's with Xavi and Iniesta being shite this season, our defence being a complete joke, Pedro being inconsistent, Neymar & Fabregas being shit after the winter etc and yet we were fighting for the title until the last day and Messi scored and assisted as many goals as he did..

He scores goals and, especially because of this reason, he is spanish.
As long as you are a Spaniard, the spanish media will never criticize you. That's why Messi, who for me has been our best player after Valdes and maybe Alexis, is being criticized in the media, while Iniesta, Xavi or Pedro, all who have made a worse season than Messi, are getting away without being criticized.

Out for a bit of time and I missed quite a bit of football. So to start, here's what I think of Atletico winning their first La Liga title since (insert actual time frame I cannot remember):
Also, I like that team of the year though I agree with YM sentiments of Modric not being there. He maybe a flake but he did perform quite well throughout the La Liga campaign. Oh well...
Um, congrats to Barcelona for actually making me dislike them more after they hired Luis Enrique. May you have the same success you had this season...

I find it surprising a Madrid fan would hope we win no trophies
Must have been the Enrique appointment.

Hardest thing to do is remain humble in the face of a defeat. I try not to blame any footballer for getting caught up in the heat of the moment.
If said footballer holds on to it for a foreseeable time, yeah, he is being a dick...

Re: La Liga 2013/14 Discussion Mk. 3
it's not classy because he didn't congratulate them??
the fuk? especially coming from a real madrid fan lol
everytime Mourinho lost to Barca in a cup, which was a lot in the past three years he would order his team to get away from the pitch so they don't see them celebrate, first cup barca lost to madrid they stayed and congratulated madrid throughout the whole ceremony.
so please you hypocrisy is historical let alone not even a valid one.. as a barca fan i rather see what Messi is doing, sulk and get upset that you lost not smile and have a nice chat with your friends..
i.e neymar with miranda etc.

It's not classy because he didn't congratulate them? Yes, it isn't classy, pretty obvious. But once again, nothing wrong with not being classy when your side just lost a league title on the final day.
