Don't think that's the case.
Crunch time and the desire to win is getting to them and the pressure is at an all time high.

Exhaustion is probably the reason for this. Unlike Liverpool, the Spanish top teams has shown enough quality to stay competitive in more than one tournament all year, and know the milage has caught up to the players. All three teams has blown it, Real should have closed the league back when they played Barca and Sevilla. Atletico had a great shot today, and now Barca finally have their chance again.

Ancelotti starting 3 defensive midfielders and 2 other midfielders as wingers against Celta Vigo is some *bleep* up shit. Gave up the league before the games even started.

Re: La Liga 2013/14 Discussion Mk. 3
Wow, what a league this year one of the best leagues I have seen in a long long time.
What happened to the 2 team league comments from the peanut gallery?
What happened to the small teams in La Liga always laying down to Madrid and Barca?
Today and the last month or so has really shown the strength of La Liga.
In 3 games where a win would put you any of the teams in a great position to take the league title:
Barca gets held goalless against Elche who with the draw avoided relegation.
Atletico (In an awesome game) draw to mid table Malaga.
Real Madrid gets beaten by mid-table Celta Vigo.
And then to think what this league has done in Europe with the finals of the Champions league both teams being from La Liga and in the Europa League Sevilla being in the final against Benfica.
Plus in Europe outside of Sociedad not making it out of there group in the CL, every Spanish team t get knocked out only did so at the hands of another Spanish team. Wow.
Talk about a domination of Europe like I have never seen before!!
People thinking of throwing stones at La Liga better remember this in the future. And this year was supposed to be a year where La Liga lost so much of there talent to other leagues. LOL.

There was nobody else available. He could've tried Marcelo as a winger and Coentrao as LB but why risk playing both of them at the same time
All our attacking players were injured, thino Bale was on the bench but that's it

Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo weren't 100% injured. If Ancelotti actually cared, he would've taken a risk.

And risk aggravating their injuries needlessly and have them miss our CL final, thank god you are not our coach. You would've turned us into Arsenal ffs. Had Jese been healthy I would not have minded but with him injured we are short of wingers as it is

Real Madrid's 2-0 loss to Celta Vigo means, Guardiola remains the only Coach in the History of Spanish Football to have won The Treble

Re: La Liga 2013/14 Discussion Mk. 3
If you know Carlo Ancelotti, you will know he will suffuse his team into a ball of energy only meant for the Champions League final and CL final alone. He took the same approach in 2003, did the same in 2005, and once again before Athens in 2007.
A league to which holds half the importance to the CL is exactly how he treats it, take it as you will.

Taking a risk can lead to a bigger reward and if he did that tonight and Barca beat Atletico in the final, then we could have won the treble.

ifs and buts
the reality of the matter is that playing injured players in pressurised games have been shown to be counter effective no matter how you dress it

Taking a risk to which is in the hands of the results of other teams can also lead to injuries leading to the final, where the players are in their final sinews before the World Cup, hence the frequent muscle injuries. Madrid should not be dropping points, yet his decisions and tactics have shown his mind is only on one target. That's what you'll have to get used to with Carlo.

when your left-back is by far your most dangerous offensive threat it's clear that you have a problem.

Benzema wasn't injured though. Also Ancelotti didn't say Bale was injured, he participated in training on Thursday. Ancelotti clearly just didn't want to take any risks.

Re: La Liga 2013/14 Discussion Mk. 3
Why should he take a risk. You're acting like anyone in the world would have thought both Barca and Atletico would lose points today, that obviously was not expected and hence he made the right call not to risk any players. Would be idiotic to risk it considering how much the CL means to Madrid at the moment.Yohan Modric wrote:Benzema wasn't injured though. Re: La Liga 2013/14 Discussion Mk. 3
Bale runs the most out of BBC and has been abused for the athleticism he builds his game around and was in need of rest.
Benzema at the moment is severely fatigued and living half the games on injections and inhibitors as playing him would be a daft choice.
Clubs like Bayern, Milan, LFC and Madrid will prioritise CL over anything, hence why it's CL or nothing and no EL or banking on intangible hopes for the league.

Taking a risk can lead to a bigger reward. Imo you can't ever give up. Look at the results tonight, Atletico drew and Barca drew. Would anyone have imagined that? If we won tonight, we would have a good chance to win the league.
Also it's not just tonight. Ancelotti has to blamed partially for the team not performing in the last 2 games against Valencia and Valladolid.

Holy shit, I didn't even realize that after drawing today Barca couldn't have won the league mathematically if Mehdrid didn't give up and got the points.
Thanks, Mehdrid.

Quite embarrassing if Atletico throw this away. Do they not want to win?
