It has to be special in a narrative/visual/characters kind of way, so it is possible to write a good paper on it. It has to be a year old or so, so far I have been thinking of Memento or Crash, since their narrative structures are very unique. Would love to hear your inputs. It also have to be in a language I understand, so I prefer English or Danish.
Could really use your help, since I am so bad at making decisions like this.
OMG, I wish I was you. It would be right up my alley.

Memento is a good choice, but probably not the first movie to have a non-chronological narrative. But still a good choice. You can write loads about that.

There's a lot of movies that one can use if you think good. A Separation would've been the one I would've gone with. Imo best drama film I've ever seen and brings up lots of moral, religious issues. Though religion might not be wisest choice to write about hmm

Inception would also be a good pick. As well as Fight Club and Pulp Fiction.

Pls make some time for Shawshank one day.
One of the best movies to be ever made imo.

EDIT: if you want further persuasion, Frank Darabont is the director.

Disconnect :bow::bow::bow: BRAVO

Up there with Crash in terms of drama. Absolutely beautiful film. Some fantastic younger actors (young Sam Winchester from Supernatural Proud ). Very powerful film because it absolutely happens in reality.

8.5/10  definitely recommend it

The Movie House - Part 4 - Page 7 Empty Re: The Movie House - Part 4

Post by RedOranje Sun May 04, 2014 6:48 am

Just back from ASM2, and I wasn't impressed.

It felt like filler to be honest.  The special effects and fight and web-slinging scenes were all (well, nearly all) very well done but outside of that just about everything about the film felt superficial.  None of the characters were terribly compelling, which is an absolute capital offense given the material they used for the movie.  Despite having great powers, a good design (despite my early reservations), and even a fairly interesting and (somewhat) well-thought out final battle, Electro ended up being about as interesting as a cardboard cut-out. Seriously, he could have been so much more menacing and interesting if they hadn't given him such a one-dimensional and weak characterization. Meanwhile, neither Peter nor Gwen were overly likeable or interesting and Pete in particular came across more like an angsty and waffling middle-schooler than what he was meant to be.  Toby Maguire was immensely more convincing and engaging (at least up until that scene in SM3) and, in my opinion at least, more accurate to the source material.  The less said about Harry Osborn the better really.

And what was the point of the parent story-line?  It was completely unnecessary to the main story and added nothing significant to the character development (largely because there wasn't really any).

As I said before, this movie felt like filler.  It came across as Sony's attempt to build up and lay out its frame for sequels and spin-offs with little actual effort going in to making this an interesting and good movie in its own right.  Say what you will about Marvel's plan to do the same thing, but at least (nearly) all of their movies can stand on their own as solid stories.

Normally, if a movie like this is entertaining with its fight and actions scenes I'm ok with the character driven parts being less than stellar, but given the material this movie used and how poorly it handled everything outside of the fights, I can't call it anything less than poor.

Disappointed.

Serious Spoilers:

Did Electro's powers and effects make anyone else think of Cole McGrath's powers if they were in inFamous: Second Son? I really wish they'd included electric powers in SS somehow... perhaps as a reward for finishing the Cole's Legacy side missions?

At least Godzilla comes out next weekend.

***This review may contain minor spoilers from TAS2. Major ones are in the spoiler tag***

There are two people in the world who I trust the most when it comes to Movies. One is my mate in real life, and the second is RedOranje,

I read RO's review of The Amazing Spiderman 2 and I heard my mates' views on it. Both were contrasting as Red was disappointed while my mate really liked it. I was interested in how I would interpret the movie myself.

Been 2 hours now since I was at the Cinema and the conclusion I came to was that I really liked it but I agree with the issues RO posted as well.

I am a huge Spiderman fan so maybe I am biased here because I did like the Rami's Spiderman Trilogy as well despite how shit the 3rd was. So maybe I ignored the flaws in this current TAS2 however the feeling I got after watching was that it was better than the first one in some ways and in other ways it could have improved.

The bad/Average

It did feel like a filler movie. I don't think they managed to fit everything in. Jamie Foxx wasn't the right guy as the electro first of all. The whole 'Attention seeking' backstory was a bit meh and to be honest, as cliche as they come. Also he was very weak as the villain as Spiderman didn't really break a sweat in defeating him. Thought Dr Lizard in the TAS1 was a much better villain with a better story than Electro.

Harry was plain garbage. I don't understand what they tried to do with him? Also that was probably the weakest hobo goblin I've ever seen. That wasn't necessary in the movie itself but like RO said, the spin offs had to use the material from this movie and that's where it will come from.

I thought the slow motion scenes were too played out towards the end.

Aunt May is too young and cunning in the movies.

The Good

I personally loved the scenes between Peter and Gwen. Thought they both connected really well. Peter was a bit edgy at times but I didn't feel he was bad at all. Although Emma Stone is a better actress than Andrew Garfield IMO.

The visuals were fantastic. Excellent CGI. Rhino's gear was nice.

Dialogues were good. Humour was pretty good too.

MAJOR SPOILERS

Spoiler:

Would give the movie 7.9/10

It's a rebooted franchise from 2011, and we should all just pretend the Wahlberg one, never existed Laughing

here is the first one in the reboot http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1318514/

I liked the last quote that, ultimately, the story is about a father and his daughter.
I was a bit worried that the movie might be a bit too 'scientific' for me, even though I am a science guy and for my age I know my science quite well.
