Watching Balotelli, he's hardly progressed since his time at City. Still the same old sulky player with brief blips of brilliance followed by weeks of hibernation

AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli lambasted Clarence Seedorf's decision to substitute him in Friday's Serie A loss to Roma during an explosive post-match interview.
The Italy international was replaced by fellow forward Giampaolo Pazzini after 69 ineffective minutes at the Stadio Olimpico but was visibily upset by decision.
Balotelli appeared to ask Seedorf why he was being taken off and the 23-year-old admitted in an interview with Sky Sport Italia after the game that he was not happy with the coach's decision before then making a sarcastic reference to the fact that the panel of Giancarlo Marocchi, Zvonimir Boban and Christian Panucci had been discussing his merits as a truly world class player.
"I didn't understand my substitution," he admitted. "But given that in the studio they say that I'm not a top player, it will have been for that."
Host Marocchi suggested his substitution was perhaps because Balotelli had not moved very much while on the field, prompting a furious response from the attacker.
"Who's speaking? Marocchi? He doesn't understand football," the former Manchester City man fumed.
“I never said I’m a top player. I am a perfectly normal player. It will take time to become world class, but the reasons why I am not a top player are not the same reasons you think.
“Every game is different. If I didn’t get near the goal once tonight, then there has to be a reason.
“You always talk about me. When Milan win Mario’s great, when Milan lose it’s all Mario’s fault. I don’t need your criticism, I make my own criticism.
“You always talk and talk, say I’m precious to Italian football, but there’s no point to saying these things. No point.”
Former Milan midfielder Zvonimir Boban then weighed in, accusing Balotelli of disrespecting his Sky colleague.
"You think you're world class? But where are you going? You never do a self-critique."
Balotelli then interrupted. "I don't need your criticism," before bring an abupt end to the interview

He doesn't actually move. Youtube player, does nothing for 5 games then uses the law of averages to get a cheeky long shot wonder goal and that's about it really.
It's hard to start up attacks when your lead striker just stands around doing *bleep* all

I am of the humble yet egotistical point of view that Balo is allergic to running. Not running with ball, just simply running. If he runs then he would actually be doing something similar to having a work rate to which he'll probably die immediately.

Re: Balotelli Watch - OGC Nice
this is just garbage...ibra has always been talented. if you never saw him play and go by just stats you saw on wikipedia, i'd see how you'll make the argument that he wasn't solid until 08/09.....wrong. he was good at ajax and was an integral part of the team that barely lost to inzaghi, schevchenko and tomasson's milan goals in the 02/03 champions league season . at juve, capello made him play a lot deeper than he would have normally liked but he was always class for them, even leading capello to compare him to van basten (i saw marco play, imo ibra's not as good as him, i'd disagree with capello on that). and he's been a major player in his teams winning the league everywhere he has been, he's achieved more club football success than ronaldo (o phenomeno), although once again, i won't say he's better than o'phenomeno, but just putting his achievements in perspective. i'd say at ballo's age, ibra had done more in football...no comparison. besides ballo's still young, he does talk a lot though....but i reckon he's still got time to improve his football. that time is fast approaching though, at 23/24 players are supposed to start hitting their peak especially if they've been playing top level footy since they were 18 years old

Re: Balotelli Watch - OGC Nice
Nice post Titosantill.
I don't expect Balo to become WC honestly. He just has too many flaws in his game and it's not just down to lack of motivation or attitude. Sometimes it just seems like he's surprised by how good the defenders are lol.
Honestly he ain't that good but some coach can use him correctly and made hi score regularly aka in 2012. He is yet to have a great season at club level.

THIS.
And it seems De Rossi agrees with you Nick:
Daniele De Rossi slammed Mario Balotelli. “We need real men, not Panini stickers or characters.”
The Roma midfielder spoke to La Repubblica after Italy’s World Cup elimination, sealed by a 1-0 defeat to Uruguay.
“There were certainly components that affected the result, like the heat or the refereeing, but we must not cling to these things,” said De Rossi.
“We must forget about all this quickly. Actually, I take that back: we should remember well what went wrong and begin again with real men.
“We need real men, not Panini stickers or characters. These are of no use to the Nazionale.”
It is widely believed De Rossi was referring to Balotelli, who posted on Twitter a picture of the Italy Panini album with his sticker in every slot.
Balo was substituted at half-time for risking a second yellow card and appeared detached from the group after the game.
When Cesare Prandelli went to announce his resignation, the entire squad waited in the dressing room for the Coach to return except for Balotelli, who sat on the team bus by himself.

Italy got eliminated because of Prandelli building his attack around sh*t scrub Balotelli.

Re: Balotelli Watch - OGC Nice
Not quite sure the blame for this exit rests solely with Balotelli, but he's far from blameless.
I think the endemic love for players with 'fantasy' in Italy has been to the detriment of the national team here, what we need more than anything is a meritocracy; which is far from what Prandelli was presiding over, especially towards the end.
In that scenario Mario has a lot of growing up to do, maybe too much and as of now I see his best chance of pulling on the Italy shirt again at a major tournament is probably on the playstation...

Re: Balotelli Watch - OGC Nice
Has he actually ever been very good? I don't think he has.
He's always had potential to be a great forward but he's a bigger waste of space than Cassano.
Not long till Balo is scoring 12 goals a season for Palermo and everyone questions 'what could have been'

Re: Balotelli Watch - OGC Nice
Balotelli can be just an icing on the cake in an a team who wants to compete for important results , you can't build a team on him.
Italy of Prandelli was a NT with ideas, before to centralize all on Balotelli.

Re: Balotelli Watch - OGC Nice
Easy scapegoat. He only had one poor game (the first half against Costa Rica)
The next big thing Immobile looked just as poor in the minutes he got. It's hard to play well when you're completely isolated and have no one to link up with.
Blame lies on Prandelli for not calling up Rossi.

no, it's hard to play well when you don't *bleep* move... balotelli has covered a grand total of 20.8 kilometers during the world cup, 2 more than the australian goalkeeper
only reason anyone ever cared about this dimwit was his antics

Re: Balotelli Watch - OGC Nice
He has no work ethic and was elevated way to quickly for a team that had no one better at the time....I think the blame is way too harsh...they are acting like Balo is the team yet not faulting the other 10 players or the guy who brought 2 strikers who lack movement and left home our two best forwards in Rossi and SES who work their asses off albeit they were injured they still provide more than what was selected.
