Wenger acted like Mourinho yesterday
Wenger wrote: "The referee made a decision that killed the game," Wenger said.
"Our keeper went for the ball, he touched Robben, who made more of it."
"Robben has enough experience to know to make more of it," said Wenger. "Overall I thought Bayern made a lot of every single contact. We are not used to that in England.
"There were fouls given today that usually are not given in the Premier League"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26267347
It's a complete disgrace Wenger would make 'diving' gestures towards our players after Robben and Neuer were clearly fouled.
Robben didn't make 'more of it', he didn't fall down by choice, but because he was caught full on by Szczesny at full speed.
Robben was out for 2 months with an inches deep wound after Augsburg's keeper was late for a challenge in December, and the red card and penalty yesterday didn't occur because it's 'not England' but Europe or 'Italy', where these fouls are given.
And it's not the ref that killed the game, but Szczesny's foul, so Wenger shouldn't complain about a 'boring' game after seeing 10% of possession in the second half, at home.
It's ironic Wenger would use the exact same language as Mourinho did, after Ramires injured Götze, when he said Götze was playacting and a 'real' (i.e. English) referee who 'loves football' wouldn't kill a game like that by awarding a red card for a red card challenge.
This is classless and unsportsmanlike behaviour, and I lost a lot of respect for Wenger yesterday.

Well, he didn't mention the not given penalty when Thomas Müller was clearly fouled in the box and didn't make anything of it...

@Lex
You saw the replay of the scene that Robben was clearly hit in the leg? The red card was unfortunately what the rules demanded and the ref just did what he had to do.

Re: Wenger acted like Mourinho yesterday
I just think it's really interesting Wenger would morph into being Mourinho's double after facing a Guardiola team and having a player sent off.
Mourinho always questions ref decisions, puts them down to playacting and exaggeration, complaining about the game being killed and being boring, how he always ends up with 10 men, and therefore the win being undeserved.
It's never about own deficiencies, or losing deservedly, is it.

It doesn't matter to him. In the EPL they have referee's blessed by the hands of god who correctly know when to say F*** it, let's throw the rule book out the window and totally ignore certain rules so it doesn't ruin the game. Even though it couldn't be more clear it was the correct call.
I mean it's clear as day Wenger is basically crying for the best competition in Europe to have rules that only EPL teams are used to adhering to.
I mean can you imagine the backlash had the official helped Arsenal out like they did against Liverpool last week and not called a stonewall penalty like that? I mean I know that Wenger would like for the ref to be on his side so he can advance in the competition like last week, who wouldn't but then to cry about an official correctly interpreting the rules of the game is just pathetic.

Re: Wenger acted like Mourinho yesterday
If you guys think this is anything like Mourinho, you're a little confused. Mourinho would come out and say Guardiola is paying the refs off, that Robben should be sent to Alcatraz and he thinks Manchester City can win the Premier League
Then he'd poke Gotze in the eye and make a handcuff gesture to the camera

Robben did make more of it than what it was. However, Wenger is just upset he lost and that is obviously fuelling the comments rather than the truth. It was still a pen.

Why would that be? Every foul he made the 'diving' signs about was in fact a foul clear as day, no decision was questionable, let alone wrong.
He's the one behaving unfairly, not Robben and Neuer.

Re: Wenger acted like Mourinho yesterday
add to that the pen that coul've been given on Müller, plus the fact Özil was offside in the build up to the penalty, and you've got a reality in complete opposition to Wenger's complaints.
Bottom line is, he lost fair and square, and he doesn't want to acknowledge that.

It was clearly a foul and a penalty, and the referee just followed the rulebook - as he should - by giving a red, too.
If Wenger wants to complain, he should complain to the rule-makers, not the referee or the players, who did nothing wrong.

because there were other defenders on the same line, and it took place on the side of the box, not in a clear goal scoring position. That's really not questionable if you bother to take off your team glasses.

Re: Wenger acted like Mourinho yesterday
I doubt he made more of it. Last time the same happened to him, he was even out for 6 weeks when a GK caused a nasty fleshwound that reached into Robben's knee joint. So I guess one can be happy that this time at least he didn't get injured. The Franchise wrote:Robben did make more of it than what it was. Tbh, it was a perfectly understandable human reaction from Wenger...What did you expect him to do? Send flowers to Robben and excuses for the gravity of that foul ?
