ronaldinho highest peak if i'm not mistaken was in 2005-2006 which can be considered one of the best peak for world class player in history

& riquelme been awarded in the same period
1. La Liga: Don Balón Award (Foreign Player of the Year) 2005 (mind you, ronaldinho is foreigner)
2. Most Artistic Player by Marca: 2005

what these thing tell you?

The midfielder has heaped praise on his club team-mate, while revealing his admiration for another Argentine, Juan Roman Riquelme

Andres Iniesta says Barcelona will never find another player quite like Lionel Messi.

The 26-year-old endured a disappointing 2013/14 campaign by his own remarkably high standards, as Barca surrendered La Liga and were dumped out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals by Atletico Madrid.

However, Messi still scored 28 times in 31 games, as well as creating a further 11 goals for his team-mates across the course of the season, and Iniesta believes his team-mate is a one-off.

He said: "Barcelona will never have another player like him ever again and he will never find another club like Barcelona.

"He is a unique talent, everyone knows what he is capable of."

Iniesta could well face Messi at the summer's World Cup, and the midfielder revealed his admiration for another Argentine, in the shape of former Barca star Juan Roman Riquelme.

"To share a changing room with Riquelme was just an absolute pleasure. You learned every day from playing alongside him," he added.

The 30-year-old is set to play a pivotal role for Spain at World Cup 2014 and signalled his intent with a goal in the 2-0 friendly win over Bolivia eight days ago.

zidane total wc assist in 1998 + 2002 + 2006 (12 matches)
= 2 assists

riquelme total wc assist in 2006 (5 matches)
= 4 assists

in term of playmaking, riquelme > zidane

from another thread that describe riquelme play:

Excuse me for intervention, but I wanna clear up something hear.

Technically, you're right, but you must consider the circumstances which led him to play this way, and is he dangerous whenever he plays forward or not.

Iniesta/Mata etc. play freely forward. They rely on the strong midfielders they have in their teams. THEIR TEAMS DON'T RELY ON THEM LIKE THE TEAMS OF RIQUELME DOES, and I'm not talking about their value to the scores, but their value in the single team .. you see, the style of every Team Riquelme is playing at, is to rely on his heavily in Midfield+Attack. Most of the time they take "ready" plays and they ignite some beautiful danger forward UNLIKE Riquelme who goes back and try to build danger/save his mates from opponents pressure/distribute balls forward .. I'm not so childish to say this is the ONLY reason on why he isn't so direct, but this is the main reason as I see it, and you can see it clearly at his Villareal days.

Another thing is that whenever he dribbles, he got knocked out .. he takes one or two players in his way and then the third knocks him down, due to his slowness, NOT because he can't be dangerous forward, and there are tons of videos show it.

I agree that Riquelme holds the ball a lot, and sometimes ridiculously, but it's because he has something in his mind, like this:

and this
and a lot of videos, and when he does that in midfield, you can say "dribbling to maintain possession", and sometimes .. he's just tired  Very Happy

And When you mean "he attends to pass not to create danger", well, I think you missed the "one-twos" he does with his teammates, they are not "through passes", but a way to step forward and to create danger, so he depends on his moving, NOT his passing skills, like this:

Personally, I think that Riquelme is not a real AMF in nowdays football , like Iniesta or Mata, he's something exceeds it, because Riquelme style combines between Iniesta's and Xavi's (Building up+Directing) and I think it is not fair to compare Riquelme with Cassano due to the massive work he does in midfield.

And finally, is he dangerous whenever he plays forward or not, I think this side of him appeared several times when he stays forward, and I think he could be better than those you mentioned considering the outstanding dribble he has, like this goal:

Anyway, I would like to back up my claims with a lot videos but my current internet balance would not allow me to do so.

Regards.
