Ronnie certainly sweat his jersy playing under Mou making 50+ meter runs when it was time for a Counter Attack. Heck, didn't he score his only Own Goal under Mou?

As for Di Maria, I noticed it when RM played against Bayern in the 2012-2013 CL Semifinal. Helped Arbeloa alot against Ribery and Robben.

Good signing. He could either turn into a Gary Cahill-type steal or show his true colors like Marin and Moses. Chelsea will not be harmed though from a financial standpoint given their resale values.

Di Maria always ran his guts out.

At Benfica they played 442 diamond. He had to counter attack on the wings, then get back into the midfield to defend...and then out to wings again if the rightback got forward.

that's precisely the point, he picks ad chooses when he does it. And vs the biggest teams he hardly works hard in transition.

When it comes to running forward top speed to score a goal, cr is great. when it comes to transition defense? by the time he is done pouting for losing the ball, the other team is already shooting on goal. this myth that CR defends is laughable. He ran a little last year when everyone was insulting, and vs barca ofc because there is too much spotlight.

He's in the defensive half more than I've ever seen him, doesn't really do much but whatever.

But he doesn't really track back. Only in select games.

He does it when it's important. In an ideal world he'd sit his ass down in Copa Del Rey games, a get subbed every now and again, and maybe have the energy to actually do his part in making the team a consistent defensive unit, but I think everyone understands how unrealistic a utopia that is.

Well I think the starting point of this was you basically saying because of Mourinho he works harder than you expected.

I would disagree with that, unless you expected him to literally stand on the half way line every game when you lose the ball.
