I would essentially only make period or mythical pieces, kinda like Michael Hurst with the Tudors, Vikings and the Borgias.

Since I'm a history buff, my shows would explore different historical periods that don't get a lot of attention, but were still extremely interesting and action packed. I'd also focus on mythologies in the form of maybe miniseries based on a given culture with a storyline.

One idea for a tv epic would span the length of the first 5 medieval crusades featuring characters like:

- The conniving, traitorous Byzantine Emperor Alexius
- Pious, but violent Godfrey of Bouillon, conqueror of Jerusalem
- Godfrey's disinterested and bitter younger brother Baldwin, future first King of Jerusalem
- The famous and popular, but aging Count Raymond of Toulouse, founder of Tripoli
- The bold and boisterous English King Richard I the Lionhearted
- The rotund, but stout-hearted Holy Roman Emperor Emperor Frederick Barbarossa
- Brilliant Muslim military tacticians and rulers Zengi and Saladin
- The noble leper King Baldwin V (descendant of Godfrey and his brother) and his murderous successor Guy of Lusignan, who later usurps the throne of Jerusalem.

Plenty more characters as well including the wives, concubines, mistresses, sisters, mothers and daughters of many of the main characters to provide the crucial female element. Then there's the members of various churches (Popes, Bishops, Cardinals, Imans etc), the different orders of Knights (Templar, St. Johns, Hospitaller, Teutonic etc).

I used to write short stories when I was younger and had thought of writing a historical fiction story based on that time. Would love to see it as a TV show though.

Mine would revolve around crime, thriller, suspense and action.

Maybe about some homeless man, who becomes an FBI agent after witnessing crimes. He assembles a family, has a kid who then gets kidnapped. Only to find out a fellow FBI agent was part of the kidnapping, who also leaks vital information to gangs.

The show would have a medium to fast paced storyline, cliffhangers, unique characters etc.

The setting would be in a basic American city. Average episode length would be around 44 minutes.

MT with that specificity in 44 minutes Proud
Why not just 45 minutes.

But anyway, my show would also be about 40-50 minutes long. And hour could be 10 minutes too long sometimes if the episode is not aced.

*Pilot*

The scene starts off with rain pouring from the dark sky. We hear busy vehicles, people talking and then it zooms into an alleyway where a homeless guy is showering under the rain. He's washing off blood from his body and half ripped clothes. 3 gunshots are heard and people are running.

*Intro music plays*

Flashback to earlier in the day. The homeless man is known as Gilbert, a man in his late 30's/early 40's. He's walking around the city, emotionless, with cars passing by and him crossing road after road. He hears a plane in the sky and as he looks up, he accidentally walks into a mother and her baby. She shouts at him and he apologises in a deep, hoarse voice. He continues walking as people around him look at him with contempt. He walks around looking at children crossing the road on the way to school, people hugging each other outside an office and a police officer arresting a criminal. A dog suddenly from behind starts barking at him and old man appears and tells the dog to continue walking. Eventually Gilbert stops at a garage. Everyone is apparently on their lunch break and nowhere to be seen, so he sits inside one of the cars, which had a door open. He looks around in the car, almost in awe.

We now see a meeting occurring in an FBI office. They talk about the recent rapes, murders, drug deals that have happened. They talk about a gang named Firehood, an infamous gang who the FBI have been tracking for the past 15 years. The FBI boss instructs agent Mark to follow up on a recent bank robbery that happened, which resulted in 3 people being killed. The boss asks agent Gerald to follow up on drug deal that was carried out, where 2 people were found dead. Agent Kendall is then told to follow up on a case on a child being kidnapped, however he suddenly receives a call and urgently rushes out. FBI boss laughs it off in a shocked manner with the receptionist.

We return to the scene with Gilbert, who ended up falling asleep in the car. He is then awoken by a group of mechanics. At first he is abused, however one of them tells them all to calm down and treat him with some respect. Karl, one of the mechanics asks what his name is. He replies and he is then asked whether he wants a drink. At first he refuses, but he reluctantly drinks a glass of water. The rest of the mechanics call Karl over and whisper to him about some hidden money. They all wonder whether he's seen the money or not. We see a civilian calling someone.

Agent Kendall is seen hurriedly driving his car. He arrives at a deserted warehouse. He hears a child scream and pulls his pistol out. He walks around stealthily, from corner to corner. Generic criminal #1 in a mask is then seen with his hand around a girls mouth. He whispers to her to stop moving or he'll shoot her. Fear is seen in the eyes of the girl. GC#1 then calls his accomplice and says the girl is with her. Kendall sneaks around a corner and spots him and the girl. As he walks nearer to GC#1, who is unaware of his presence, someone puts their hand around his mouth and he becomes unconscious. It turns out it GC#1's accomplice. The accomplice then shouts at the GC#1, saying how could you not know this FBI agent was there. GC#1 replies saying he wasn't looking in that direction. His accomplice sighs. We are then shown a group of drug addicts approaching the mechanics building. They approach stealthily and one of the mechanics sneakily trades cash for some drugs.

FBI boss is then shown entering his home. His kids joyful as he enters the home. He asks his wife what's for dinner in a cheerful way. He discusses his day and they plan his daughter's upcoming birthday. We now learn FBI boss' name is Leroy. Leroy then tells his wife he forgot collect something on the way back from work. She replies saying it's late. As he drives by a quiet area, he spots a prostitute stumbling towards him in a drunken manner. He stops the car and gives her a warning. However she grabs hold of him and kisses him.

We return to the scene at the mechanics. The mechanics tell Gilbert they're sorry they're going to have to kill him. His face remains emotionless. They end up tieing him to a chair in one of the back rooms. The room has a TV, which is showing an old movie about cops killing criminals on one of the channels. So one of the mechanics switches the channel. Outside a man playing a violin is heard. Deep thoughts run through Gilberts head. The mechanics then discuss how a potential drug deal will happen. Who will do what etc.

We see helicopters flying in the sky patrolling the mechanics building. It turns out it's the police. The civilian from earlier called them. Inside Gilbert hears this and the mechanics all start to panic. Gilbert sits there as the mechanics unload their weapons and prepare to shoot. Suddenly, Gilbert spots a broken glass in the corner which he manages to use to open the rope he was tied with, unbeknown to the mechanics. Gilbert then walks into the room where the mechanics are and they all turn around and look at him with guns in their hands.

I would make a show similar to Breaking Bad undoubtedly. Drama-thriller, totally unsophisticated in its concept and storylines, minimal characters — but executed to the absolute perfection.

Post-apocalyptic western. Think Justified/Deadwood meets Fallout 3.

The shows run-time would be about 45 minutes.

The show opens up to a man surrounded by 3 dark figures on horseback. We never see the man's face, we only see his back. The man is dressed in all black. His clothes are visibly worn but he is wearing traditional western garb from his hat to his duster and boots.

We can see the man tilt his hat up so that the mounted figures can make out his face. You can see the horses get visibly restless at the sight of his face. One of the figures appears to reach for their weapon. The shot fades to black and all we hear is gun shots.

From there I would open the show, telling the back story of our main character Everett Ford and his unlikely journey to becoming a Ranger, a nomadic race of law men who travel the post-apocalyptic waste carrying out what they "believe" to be justice (very much straddling the line of hero and anti-hero). The story would slowly build and the climax of the first season would be the opening scene.

Post by M99 Mon Jan 20, 2014 11:12 am

Change the title to TV show/movie. I got a movie incoming.

The protagonist of the story is an Italian-American named Giovanni 'Gio' Pietorossi. He narrates the story of his life in New York from the 1930s-1950s. He went to school and was best friends with Mario Bertolacci, son of Don Bertolacci, perhaps the most powerful criminal boss of New York. While at school, Gio's father who was a made man of the Vinci Family died in a fishing trip by drowning. Gio tells how his father promised to bring him a big fish but instead he got his father's corpse. Gio and Mario both get admitted to the same college but soon Gio leaves to fight World War II while Mario stays home. This is all shown and narrated by Gio in the opening 10 minutes

Gio is sent home after suffering an injury after 1-2 years expected to return in a month. He comes home a changed man and has no wish to return to the horrors of war and after meeting his family, Gio stumbles on Mario in a bar flirting with two women. Mario greets him warmly and they drink together just like old times and Gio confesses to Mario that he dreads returning to war. Two days later it's Gio's birthday and Mario promises to give him a very special present. The present turns out to be formal discharge papers for Gio which Mario pulled through his 'connections'. Mario offers Gio a place in his father's 'family business' and after some hesitation due to his father's history with the rival Vinci family, Gio accepts.

Gio makes steady money doing small scale operations like extortion, robbery and smuggling with Mario's own sub-set of the Bertolacci crime family. Mario introduces Gio to his family and the high ranking officials of the crime family. Don Luigi Bertolacci, Mario's father, takes a liking to Gio and during their conversation confesses to him that he disapproves of Mario's small scale 'easy money' operations and his womanising, drug use and alcoholism. Meanwhile, Gio's mother figures out what her son is up to and tells him his father is rolling in his grave knowing that his son is a petty goon of the Bertolaccis.

A few days later, a jewellery store robbery goes horribly wrong when a burglar alarm is turned on in the shop. As the cops come, a panic stricken Mario opens fire and instigates an all out shootout. Mario is shot and while most of the gang run away, Gio stays behind and assists Mario. As the cops retreat and calls for backup, Gio orders another henchman who stayed behind to flee with Mario in his car while he holds the cops back. The henchman leaves with Mario and a few seconds later more police come and Gio surrenders. Gio is taken to jail. On the day of his hearing, strangely a lot of witnesses (cops and bystanders) give false testimony and say Gio was just an onlooker and he never shot anyone or anything. Other witnesses fail to appear at court and the pistol found in Gio's possession is said to have gone missing. The judge very quickly ends the hearing and declares Gio innocent. A confused Gio walks outside where a black suited man wearing a fedora hat is waiting for him and orders him to get inside a black car. They go to Don Bertolacci's house where Don Bertolacci expresses his wish to make Gio a made man. Gio accepts and the ceremony occurs. Mario and Gio hug afterwards.

Just like Scarface's 'Push It To The Limit', a 1940s song plays and shows Gio's rise to the top. He is shown taking orders from the Don himself and the Don's capos, assassinating people with a sniper rifle, burning down a factory with several other men, buying an expensive car, receiving a large briefcase of cash on his big home etc.

The scene then switches to an expensive Italian restaurant where Gio, Mario and several other friends are rowdily talking, eating and drinking. From the conversation, it is understood that Gio and Mario's sister are in a relationship. Mario encourages Gio to go ahead with it but Gio says that a relationship with him would endanger her life. Mario says her life was in danger since birth being Luigi Bertolacci's daughter, the guy half the city wants dead and the other half wants him to be put behind bars. On the other table eating is Don Alberto Vinci and several bodyguards. As they prepare to leave, Vinci drunkenly insults Mario and the Bertolacci family. A furious Mario has to be restrained by Gio and his friends. Vinci then tells Gio that he knew his father. His father wanted to leave his organisation for Gio, to take care of him and pay more attention to his family. So Vinci ordered Gio's father's fishing trip to be his last one and to make him sleep with the fishes he loved so much since he 'knew too much'.

Gio freezes. He regains his composure and walks calmly towards to door but turns back and starts shooting. An all out war breaks out in the restaurant. Vinci's bodyguards and Gio and Mario's group of friends all take cover behind tables and starts shooting. The waitresses and waiters start screaming and hiding. At the end, only two men are left standing, Mario and Gio. Mario and Gio approach a wounded Vinci who screams that there will be hell to pay and those two idiots signed the Bertolacci Family's death warrant. Mario angrily stabs Vinci several times in the stomach and Gio puts a bullet through his head in the end. Suddenly, Mario shoots and kills the cowering waiters and waitresses. He explains to an outraged Gio that they cannot afford to leave any witnesses and Vinci was right, there will be hell to pay after this. Mario proceeds to go inside the kitchens and washrooms where he executes the other restaurant goers and chefs hiding. Mario and Gio then take their friend's bodies and sneak out behind the backdoor as police sirens are heard. They take their car parked and bury their friends at an abandoned location. Gio says they deserved better but Mario says they cannot afford having known Bertolacci Family associates public funeral. Mario says that no one must ever know what happened and they will probably need to go to the mattresses anyway. They change their clothes and Mario goes and visits his mother whom he had not seen since his court trial.

Don Vinci's son. Domenico Vinci is hell bent on revenge and threatens to go to war with all of the other four families unless the killers come reveal themselves. A suspicious Don Bertolacci asks Gio where he was the day Vinci was killed and warns him that putting personal problems before business leads to a lot of deaths. In a grand meeting of all the five families, Don Bertolacci consoles Domenico Vinci and says that they will all do everything they can to unmask his father's killer and there is no point on Domenico waging war on everyone and ultimately killing himself and a lot of others with him. Domenico Vinci grudgingly makes peace.

A few months later, one of the Bertolacci capos dies of a heart attack and Gio marries Don Bertolacci's daughter with Mario being the best man. On the wedding ceremony, Don Bertolacci expresses how he sees Gio as a son and offers him the role of capo which Gio accepts. A drunken Mario then makes a scene, first trying to aggressively kiss a bridegroom, and then expresses his jealousy on Gio and how his father loves Gio more than him and will make Gio his heir. Mario insults his father and throws wine at Gio's face congratulating him on the shrewd tactic of banging the old man's daughter to get to the top. He then takes out heroine and starts using in front of everybody. His disgusted father orders his men to send Mario to rehab.

A month later, Gio learns from his distraught wife that Don Bertolacci is in hospital in critical condition after being shot by a sniper. On his deathbed, the Don requests Gio to take care of the family business until Mario is sober and tells him to apologise to Mario on his behalf. On the Don's funeral Mario shows up and rather than being cured, he appears to be worse than before. He accuses Gio of ordering the hit to get to the top and being the son and underboss, he should be the new Don immediately. He introduces Gio to his new best friend Peppino, a huge muscular Italian-American he met on rehab. The Bertolaccis are split into two factions, those loyal to Mario and the other side loyal to Gio. Gio wishing not to taint the Bertolacci's legacy by waging civil or kill Mario, tells him that he is leaving the family to him and he is going to go far way to Los Angeles with his now pregnant wife.

Mario gives a victory celebration party with a lot of booze, drugs and hookers. Suddenly the police storms in and arrests him. Peppino is revealed to be an undercover agent. In his court hearing, a deranged Mario screams out and confesses to killing Vinci with Gio. One of the men loyal to Gio tells him what happened. Gio sends his pregnant wife to LA while he stays in New York. He calmly waits for the police to come and he stands in front of his house on the middle of the street. As the police come, he seems to surrender. The scene is exactly same to his surrender after the jewellery store robbery but at the end he pulls out a Tommy Gun and shoots everyone. After killing everyone, he calmly takes his car to his now abandoned childhood home. He writes a letter to his wife and mother there and also sends money and the burial location of his dead friends to their family. Meanwhile, a scene shows Mario's throat slit in the prison. A Bertolacci hit squad led by a capo arrives at Gio's childhood home to take revenge on him. Gio was ready for them. The house is booby trapped with bombs. He emerges out of a playground and interrogates the capo who confesses that Domenico Vinci is in league with Detective Peppino and ordered the hit on Don Bertolacci. Gio then learns that the two will meet again at the Vinci Family bar that night. Gio drives to the bar and from afar lights up a Molotov Cocktail. He lights up his cigarette with the cocktail and throws the cocktail at the bar. The bar starts burning and Peppino and Domenico are trapped burning inside. Gio says aloud that he is going to tell Alberto Vinci on hell that he left his son burning with the rats and his son was a dirty rat himself. The Vincis open fire on Gio who dies with the cigarette in his mouth and a song playing in the background.

A year later Gio's wife and mother are shown living together to raise Gio's son, named Giovanni after him.

If you could create a TV show/movie, what would it be about? Empty Re: If you could create a TV show/movie, what would it be about?

I love the variation of story telling I'm seeing.

For me, I prefer to find a general environment for my storytelling which allows me to explore large variations of characters and themes.

However, for those that have a vision (M99 ), and know their story and how it should play out, as if it was a part of themselves, that's just impressive.

I have a great one, but I'm still sort of struggling on connecting all the dots.

It's going to be a mystery/thriller/crime show.

Also it would actually be the dialogue and acting that makes this show so it'll be a bit hard to see how good it is if I write it in MT and 69's synopsis style.

Just provide the basis of the story, dialogue is something that usually becomes more organic once you cast the actual characters.

Sharp Awakening - Episode 2:

The scene starts off with an eagle sat on a tree in a jungle, squealing. We are then shown two men digging and burying a corpse.

*Intro music plays*

We start where the previous episode ended. Gilbert cutting himself loose with the use of a broken glass. Gilbert then walks into the room where all the mechanics are holding guns. The mechanics all wonder what Gilbert is doing free and one of them suggests to just shoot him. They all agree and before they pull the trigger, a loud thud is heard. The police helicopter dropped some sort of an explosive, which made the building collapse. As all the bricks fall off, the mechanics all panic and one of them shouts to the others to quickly get the 'case'. As Gilbert himself tries to escape, he trips over and one of the mechanics attempts to shoot him, however he falls over too and loses the gun. The gun is then seen. Gilbert grabs the gun ahead of the mechanic and shoots him. We see blood splattered all over Gilbert. As the police helicopter descends, a few of the mechanics manage to escape in a vehicle. Gilbert then spots a bag of money, grabs it and escapes into a nearby alleyway. We now return to the scene of the first episode. He washes off the blood, as the police all shoot the remaining mechanics as they try and escape.

Next morning, in the FBI headquarters, Leroy walks in looking happier than usual. He greets everyone and acts nicer than usual. All the agents all joke with him and wonder why he's happier than usual. However he refuses to say why. They all then wonder where agent Kendall is. Leroy asks agent Mark to track the last Kendall's mobile phone. Agent Gerald then shows Leroy a report on the recent drug deals that have occurred. Leroy requested this from Gerald yesterday. Gerald explains some of the report, saying Firehood, the gang, have been in business with a major Mexican drug organisation. No one knows much about the organisation, however all that is known is they have smaller gangs that operate throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Occasionally some members have been caught; however the only way to disband the entire thing would be to reach the leader of it.

We are now shown Gilbert drinking coffee in a local shop. As he looks around, he sees the coffee shop staff lady greeting every customer with a smile. She then comes over to him and asks whether he wants something else with his coffee, however he replies no. She looks at him in a suspicious way, since his clothes are ripped; he stinks and has bruises as a result of some bricks hitting him. He sips his coffee and then hesitantly takes a look inside the bag.

The FBI team are called to the mechanics headquarters to investigate. Leroy asks the forensics team to search the scene for fingerprints. He asks agent Mark to see if there are any CCTV cameras around, so they can see what exactly happened last night. As the rest of the FBI team search the building, they find some sort of a powder scattered in a corner by a table. With closer inspection, they realise it is cocaine.  Mark manages to find a CCTV camera located on the outside of a shop, just down the road from the mechanics building. With the shop owner’s permission, they view the footage. They see 3 men escaping and a few minutes they see a distorted image of a man with a bag.

Gilbert is then shown walking to a hotel. He spots a CCTV camera as he enters, so he walks cautiously in order to keep himself off it. He walks up to the main reception and asks to book a room for the next month. He is then told provide I.D. and fill out some forms. He says he has no ID, however he has the money.  The receptionist then apologises and says he cannot book a room without I.D. Gilbert, still with an emotionless face then slowly walks out as the receptionist looks on suspiciously.

We return to the FBI headquarters where Mark has managed to track the location of agent Kendall. Leroy tells him go to that place and find out what has happened. The FBI forensic team tell everyone that they found a lot of blood at the mechanics and they have examined it. It belongs to 3 different people. The FBI team then assume it belonged to the 3 that were on the CCTV camera. The FBI team then receive a call from an anonymous number. The caller says they have kidnapped agent Kendall. Leroy then asks the caller what he wants. The caller replies by saying he wants to meet Leroy.

Gilbert is shown sitting behind tree thinking deeply on what he should do. We see has a sleeping bag and a broken watch.  As it approaches 1am, he walks back towards the hotel. He enters and finds no one is at the reception. He hurriedly approaches an elevator and randomly presses a number inside. He ends up on floor 2.  He walks around panicking, attempting to open all the doors to no avail. However he manages to open a door of a storage room that was left unlocked. As he enters he suddenly hears voices so he carefully shuts the door. As he looks around, he spots a small window. He walks towards it and as he looks outside, he spots masked men on motorbikes armed with assault rifles.

LoL what if I actually become a screenwriter/director one day. I have actually thought about becoming one some day
Can't elaborate too much on my ideas. I usually have a lot.

I have my very own The Dark Knight. It's basically just about this man who wrecks havoc and chaos on his own a la The Joker.

And then I also have this fantasy, epic idea. It's set in Africa and it's about this young man who rises through the ranks to become the ruler of his clan and as he becomes more powerful and stronger he starts getting crazy and everything just starts tumbling down for him and his powerful anarchic system.

These are movies.
