It makes perfect sense. That makes it funny.

Aww, I find it cute and amazing at the same time that Messi voted Neymar in his top 3 over his usual pick of Aguero. He picked team mate over countrymen/bff. Didn't see that coming

Isn't that Messi's GF sitting next to CR with her legs over his lap?

In one night CR manages to collect Balon d'Or and Messi's GF from him

Fifa......:faceplam:
Seriously, this is the 3rd time I've seen them got this award to a popular player then to the one who really deserves it. Xavi, Iniesta, and now Ribery. What's worse is Ronaldo, who betrayed his own word that he would not show up to the event, who cried at the stage holding a trophy that I thought he, as well as myself, deemed uncredible. Looks like I was wrong about him, in the end.

Jogi Löw refuses to vote for FIFA Golden ball as the vote isn't secret and he doesn't want to incense any of the 5 German internationals on the list by putting one in front of the others and omitting two over all. He suggests that coaches shouldn't be allowed to vote for their own players to avoid embarrassments.
I genuinely thought it was just PRing. He really did not vote...

you will look like alpha when you know that you have won the award (Most probably Blatter informed him)Se7en wrote:S wrote:Se7en wrote:

Cant help to think that someone from the inside already told CR7 that he was the winner pre gala.

Looking at some odds for 2014 Ballon d'Or. Ozil and Iniesta are enticing. If Spain and/or Germany win the WC these two would be the front runners for the award and I could stand to make a lot of money from a modest investment.

What if Arsenal actually win the league though? Woudln't Oezil win then (assuming Germany take the WC)? BdO is a popularity contest and no one the watches bundesliga.

Why Ozil? I think Schweinsteiger, Mueller or even Lahm could enter the fray as the best player for Germany. I don't even think Ozil is the best player for Arsenal tbh. Defense is carrying the gunners + Cazorla has been better than Ozil lately + Wilshere is coming on + Ramsey was the best Arsenal player for the first half of the season imo.BarrileteCosmico wrote:What if Arsenal actually win the league though? You'd have to be considered the best player on your team.

that's true, however Arsenal won't win the league as they'll have no confidence left after we're through with them.
If Germany win the WC Müller will be top goalscorer.
Problem with the whole calculation is we won't win the WC as we have Löw who isn't good enough to coach us to a WC win.

Mueller stands a chance, I think Oezil has a better one but you could bet on both and still come out goodsportsczy wrote:Why Ozil? Schweinster has no chance, even in a year in which he won every title there is to win he still did not make the FIFPRO World XI. Since this is a popularity contest this is significant. Also has a declining influence under Guardiola.
Lahm, when's the last time a defender won it? I rest my case.

Ronaldo are leading CL and la liga top scorer table. Why Messi is first favorite then?

No you're right of course, the hype with the Arsenal move etc and the 50m price tag (Real making good business lol) make Özil more likely.
I just made the tongue in cheek thing with Müller as you were talking about making money off a modest investment on a dark horse.
