XCX, I do appreciate your wonderful vote of confidence, as Seedorf like Guardiola has all the necessary character traits on paper-arguably even more see than the Catalan.
Yet unlike Pep he has never immersed himself in a formal coaching stint (outside one brief U-17 job) and we do not possess the necessary resources that are needed to go to such depths of success.
Bright side is, Silvio Berlusconi always splashes cash for the new managers of Milan, especially the ones who are handpicked by himself as well-Seedorf being a Berlusconi choice alongside Barbara.

Talk me through the process of how a coach can turn Milan back into a footballing powerhouse, with a £10M budget and a mediocre at best squad
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, please continue.

Seedorf: Milan will play a 4-2-3-1 with an emphasis on pressing high and attacking quickly. Milan have been infected with a virus, but the anti virus has arrived.

Re: OFFICIAL : Seedorf appointed Milan manager...aaaand sacked
Clarence Seedorf has been ordered to finish in the Europa League places this season or face the sack.
Corriere dello Sport report this afternoon that the Milan Coach has been contacted by President Silvio Berlusconi, with the Rossoneri chief telling the tactician that he will be fired should the team not qualify for European competition next term.
The San Siro outfit are currently 10th in the table, eight points off sixth place Parma.
And despite the former midfielder being handed a contract until 2016 earlier this year, the paper believes that Berlusconi will have no qualms about ditching Seedorf should they finish outside the top six.

No chance.
Seedorf will be here next season, even if we don't make it to EL.

Seedorf was personally handpicked by Berlusconi, and was given the ok to choose who leaves/arrives in the summer. Don't see him leaving this summer at all.

Di Marzio reported that Seedorf's position is completely safe and that he was given the freedom to make changes to the team. This includes change of staff and selecting which players to sell and buy.

This season will be one of experimentation for Seedorf, but come next season, we will expect nothing less than to be fighting for the title.

Bit too steep don't you think? I believe securing a CL spot would be more attainable and a more realistic goal for Seedorf

Absolutely serious. Of course, this is dependant on Galliani and Berlusconi allowing Seedorf the freedom to build his own team and also giving him access to the funds to be able to do that. There is no reason why this team cannot be re-built over the summer transfer window to make it competitive again. We won't be playing Europa or CL next season, so the league and cup are the only competitions for Seedorf to concentrate on. In Serie A, it is possible with some investment in the right players to go from mid-table to top 3 in one season. For example, Juventus went from 7th in 2010–11 to 1st in 2011–12.Gil wrote:Forza wrote:This season will be one of experimentation for Seedorf, but come next season, we will expect nothing less than to be fighting for the title.

Our first team is not really that bad. Fitness issues have been the biggest problem this season as Arq has pointed out many times before. The team can compete with a few reinforcements to the first team and the addition of depth players. However, first we must get rid of players such as nocerino and mexes, who affect us financially.

Milan have a long way to go until top competition again imo. But they should definitely stick with Seedorf, long term projects pay off if Berlusconi and co. give him enough freedom.
It's a lot harder than you think, one of the main reasons (imo) Juve dropped in such a deep hole when we got two seventh place finishes in a row, impossible to get rid of the dead wood with high wages. Players have too much power in the league (Amauri..)•MilanDevil• wrote:Our first team is not really that bad. Juventus invested a lot though.80m and upwards for almost a whole new team.
Milan on the other hand without CL money will find it more difficult to have a sizeable budget for solid transfers rather than collecting scraps as you've been doing in previous years.
Also Napoli and Roma have solid projects along with Inter who are trying to get back to the top as well so it wouldnt be as simple and easy as you think.

Much of what defines a solid project in people's minds relies entirely on hindsight however. Most Serie A 'experts' on this forum were of the opinion that Roma had flipped their lid at the beginning of the season and now it's seen as an expertly managed team.
A similar core managed to procure 3rd for Milan a season ago; it's a squad that has also lost certain key elements but one that still provides a highly capable foundation. In terms of next season, the key goals must be reducing the squad size and the associated wage bill drastically to cut expenditure, improving the fitness of the team and fixing the issue of width and our central defence. Milan as a team don't have to catch Juventus, we have to catch the likes of Roma and Napoli which is a more manageable target.
Given the trust I have in our management though, I don't think we'll do it.

What is your ideal team from the current squad (disregard injury, suspension etc.)! Do you consider that good enough for finishing 3rd!!
