ozil has been one of our most consistent midfielders though, he has more good games then bad. and even when he is having a bad game, he still manages to produce something in a match.

i have been impressed by him, i thought he was a bit overrated by rm fans, because we all know how much RM fans overrated their players. He has not quite reached cesc level yet, but it is first season and he is still young and can improve.

His statements about Arsenal and Ozil are not at all outrageous.

There is not a single team in the EPL that wouldn't want ozil. Or in the world for that matter. Who is consistently brilliant in the EPL by the way? Maybe Suarez? other than that every single one of the players who are considered the best in the league suffer from inconsistency. Every one of City's players are inconsistent.. The only difference is that they have so many players that it doesn't matter. For Aguero, it probably has more to do with his health, but still..

And its difficult for a number 10 to look great all the time when you don't have much going on with your strikers. how many brilliant passes in the final third of his have been bottled this season? lve lost count. A great striker like say kun, can play like shit a whole game but still manage to score.. Ozil is in the same mold in a way.. He can play like crap for most of the game sometimes but still managed to create a brilliant chance that SHOULD be converted but no one took advantage...Our more clinical finishers Walcott and Podolski have been out the whole season, and we don't have anyone to bench giroud when he plays like crap to help finish the chances we create.

No. Owen is basically saying we can't win anything or compete when our best player is someone like ozil. That isn't true. We just don't have much of a bench. We rely on ozil and others more than city or Chelsea rely on their best. Some of ozils inconsistency can also be related to that he plays literally every minute of every game That is a big difference in terms of a criticism between that an what he is saying

All we need to do in January to keep title hopes alive are buy some quality players that can strengthen the rotation and make it so we don't have to always play out best 11. He makes it sound as if we need to be 3 or 4 WC players to have any hope and that just isn't true.

He is learning like all men learn in their life and it is just a matter of a time that he will improve the team, results and get ManUtd to a respectable position, not sure if he would achieve what SAF did. You are wrong. Some very key players of this United team are in their early 30s (Vidic, Carrick, Evra, RVP) and need to be replaced in a couple of years. Do you trust Moyes to replace them adequately ?! Well, I don't. I look forward to him buying a team of Fellainis....suck flair out of them, and make them a workmanlike team as he did for Everton.

It's totally acceptanble and good plan for Everton, but not for a title aspiring team. David Moyes has been a coward and cautious manager for decades...you can't change your mentality over night. Fingers crossed, very very happy he's won the last 2 games. We need him to be there for 2 full seasons (or 1.5 at least...to really Evertonise them).

But I have to agree with him about Ozil. Ozil is definitely a world class talent, but he IS inconsistent. He may "stat paddle" his way getting a goal / assist every couple games, but he's inconsistent ON the pitch. He goes missing for 60 minutes, drifts in for about 5 mins where he absolutely KILLS the opposition, and then goes 'quiet' again. You expect a World Class player to play a lot longer in games. Like Sports said, he was the same at Madrid so it probably won't improve at Arsenal either.

I don't think Mike and a lot of people here understand what the word inconsistent means. Inconsistent would be being awesome one game, going on extended run of doing nothing for a few games, then being amazing again. Everytime Ozil is on the pitch, he does something, whether its creating a shooting chance for someone else or scoring a goal himself

Inconsistent is what Torres is. Ozil is just fine

Of his last 6 PL games, he's played 90 minutes in 5 of them, creating 4 goals and scoring 2

You can be inconsistent in games Lex and Ozil is inconsistent in more games than he's not. He drifts in and out of games... he's been doing it his whole career.

Well everyone will find something to nit-pick I guess. Ozil can kick a grain of san through the eye of a needle, but unless he does it for 90 minutes straight without fail, he's "inconsistent"

That's what Ozil is, he's not midfield general like Cesc who used to involve in every ball movement back in the day. He's not Isco who run like horse and does some fancy footwork.

He's the kind who looks for quick release of ball, one two touch dribbles and pass, usually he will look for killer passes. If only half of his final balls end up as assists, he would be up there with Messi and Ronaldo in term of stats, his stats are already amazing.

We already have 5 freaking horses running around him, it's better if he use his stamina focusing on attack, I'm ok with it. Stats don't lie, when he's on the field, the whole team played better and he assisting, scoring; can't ask anymore than that. The inconsistent one this season is Santi, not Mesut
