sigh, am composed now....
It's not disrespect. Juve wants its player back for the biggest game of the year at this point of the season rather than Ghana risking him in a consolation game. I think it's already ridiculous that AFCon doesn't try to schedule it's tournament during the summer. Most of the other confederations are able to do it.
its the rainy/wet season in the summer normally in most parts of Africa, so Jan/Feb [dry season] is the best time for the tourney....
and still he owes it to Ghana consolation or not, FIFA wills it and Juve knows that so its equal to a disrespect to Ghana...
dude...You know I'm Jamaican so I am half Ghanaian...
The man should put the country of his birth first...
@Juventude put yourself in his position...
would you play a match for the US to ensure you bring home a medal, even if a bronze or go to your club?

Club. Consolation games in tournaments like these are virtually meaningless aside from FIFA rankings. This is why most sports have gotten rid or third place games.
I would take no offense if Tottenham asked for Clint Dempsey to return because he had to play a critical UCL or EPL match rather than the US play in a third place game.
As to the timing of AfCon, if a World Cup can be played in South Africa from June to August, then there are definitely locations where games could be played for a AfCon. It's asking a lot of clubs (that pay these players well) and the players to stop mid-season to play in a tournament.

Juventus keen to take up €9 million Asamoah option
The Serie A leaders plan to take permanent ownership of the Ghana midfielder, and want another campaign of co-ownership with Mauricio Isla
Juventus are keen to seal a deal to take full ownership of midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah at the end of the season, Goal.com understands.
The Ghana international is currently co-owned by both Udinese and the Serie A leaders, but Bianconeri coach Antonio Conte is planning on taking up the option to sign the player on a permanent basis for an additional €9 million fee.
The Italian champions also want to extend their co-ownership deal with Zebrette for versatile Chile international Mauricio Isla, as they remain reticent to pay another €9m to secure the 24-year-old's signature permanently.
It is understood that the Udinese owners, the Pozzo family, would be happy to acquiesce to Juventus’ offer for Asamoah, with the family enjoying a good working relationship with the board at Juve.
Udinese are also thought to be keen to generate funds this summer as they look to rebuild the squad ahead of the 2013/14 season.
Isla and Asamoah both initially moved to Juventus Stadium in the summer of 2012.

I agree with this. We need another season to evaluate Isla's value.

He is a good player with ups and downs and a key player to conte's tactics now, however a total amount of 18m is too much

I like asamoah but lets be realistic he's usually average in big games, his dribbling skills only works against weak defenders, his crosses are not perfect. well he impressed a lot when he arrived but after months he has become predictable for other teams' defenders. Don't get me wrong he is a good player but for 18m we might had better options.Cotes wrote:MMM wrote:He is a good player with ups and downs and a key player to conte's tactics now, however a total amount of 18m is too much

I think Asamoah is fairly priced. We have to remember that he has been used out of his normal position all season. I think he would do very well in his natural position as a CM. But that could be a problem for Juve because our CM is packed with a lot of players at the moment. Asamoah is definitely worth around 18m, but the question Juve needs to ask is if he is worth that price if he is going to sit on the bench as a sub.

Re: - Kojo| Kwadwo Asamoah #22
you can see on the other side, LINSHTAINER doesn't have the technique of ASAMOAH with the ball, but his teamwork ability is making things easier for PIRLO and VUCINIC,
ASAMOAH has lot of qualities as an individual, but the left wing always seem dead, because lack of his teamwork ideas,
I don't know if teamwork is a natural gift, or can be learned on the training, I hope ASAMOAH suits with the team because honestly with all his qualities, without teamwork you cannot do nothing, and he cannot complain because he got players like PIRLO + CHIELLINI + VUCINIC around, and there is no excuse for Asamoah

I love Asamoah's addition, in the first half of the season he was a revelation.
Since the AFCON, I have yet to see him have the same impact. So unfortunate, he offers a new dimension to Juventus when he is at his best. Different from Lichtsteiner but nearly as effective.
I might be alone on this though. Just want to see him as I did in the first half of the season

A pretty offensive thread title towards the player in my opinion. If we cant find appropriate nicknames lets just leave it as it is with the player name and his number beside it in the thread title.Same applies to the Isla thread too.Lets not have negative nicknames however bad or frustrating the player is.

'Cant Cross' Kwadwo Asamoah.
While that phrase is true but he's still a very good player and i think it would be better not to have a negative nickname.Just my opinion.

Re: - Kojo| Kwadwo Asamoah #22
Asamoah moved into the middle?
Juventus boss Antonio Conte is reportedly considering the use of Kwadwo Asamoah in central midfield against Sassuolo.
The Ghana international has been mainly used as a left-wing back since his arrival from Udinese two years ago.
However, with Andrea Pirlo injured and Claudio Marchisio suspended, Conte could bring the 25-year-old into the middle.
If Asamoah is kept on the flank, then Simone Padoin will be fielded instead.
Sky Sport Italia are also suggesting that Fabio Quagliarella may start in attack alongside either Carlos Tevez or Fernando Llorente.

Beast game today and should've had a goal too if not for poor finishing.Seriously hope this convinces Conte to use him as a CM more often.Thats where his best talents lie.

I just have one criticism about him at CM in what has otherwise been impressive performances in the last two games and that is how rarely if not doesnt at all use his weaker foot.
Could it be one of the reasons he's not being used at CM that much ?

Surag, mezz'ala's usually are primed to focus most of their efforts onto their stronger foot as mostly their weaker foot is either underdeveloped or simply not needed. Asamoah is naturally a mezz'ala rather than a pure Central Midfielder.
I've seen Asamoah make solid use of his right yet in different context and usage.
Unfortunately for Asamoah; Conte's system does not utilize a mezz'ala, thus the Ghanian is still naturally out of his optimized position.

Isnt Mezzala supposed to mean Box to Box midfielder ? He has effectively played in Pogba/Marchisio's position at LCM the last two games. What or how is it different from what you're saying ?

'I haven't thought about leaving Juve'
Kwadwo Asamoah has insisted that he has ‘never thought’ about leaving Juventus and is happy at the club.
The Ghana international has been an integral part of the Bianconeri XI this season, playing in 15 League games.
And the 25-year-old has claimed that he wants to stay with the Old Lady for the foreseeable future.
“I have not spoken with anyone about my future,” he told Goal.com. “I’m doing well at Juventus, which is one of the biggest in the world.
“It has never occurred to me to leave for another club.”
