Lucio will be the #4 CB behind Chiellini/Bonucci/Barzagli, who will all be playing most matches assuming Conte prefers the 3-5-2.... I like Lucio as a backup and think he was a good signing, but they need another guy.... unless they feel comfortable with Alberto Masi as their #5 guy

luckily, Isla can spell Lichtsteiner at RWB when needed

but lets just pray Caceres only has a sprain and only miss a few weeks/1-2 months

It is feared Juventus could lose Martin Caceres for anything from two to six months after his knee injury in the Trofeo TIM.

The Uruguayan defender slipped on the choppy turf at the Stadio San Nicola in Bari last night and badly sprained his left knee.

He was stretchered off and there were immediately concerns he might’ve damaged the collateral ligament.

More tests are needed, but already rumours are filtering through from the Bianconeri medical staff that they fear the worst.

If the ligament damage is confirmed, then Caceres could be out of action for anything from two to six months.

Juventus played in the Trofeo TIM tournament, which saw them beat Milan 1-0 and lose 1-0 to Inter in the 45-minute mini-matches.

Juve to keep hold of Masi?

Juventus could keep hold of youngster Alberto Masi after Martin Caceres’ injury.

“I am inspired by Thiago Silva and Gerard Pique.”

The Trofeo TIM brought good and bad news for the Bianconeri, as they discovered the talented 19-year-old Masi in defence and potentially lost Caceres for two to six months.

Masi was brought in from Pro Vercelli this summer in a co-ownership deal and had been set for a loan, but could now remain in Turin.

“I’m happy to have played a good game. It was the first time I’d been on the field in front of so many people. I am usually not nervous, but I noticed it was a different atmosphere,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I don’t know what the club will decide about my future, whether I’ll stay here or go out on loan.“What interests me is proving my worth. I am inspired by Thiago Silva and Gerard Pique, but it’s tough to reach those levels.”

Masi is a great CB we need him

Feel bad for Caceres getting a bad injury by making a tackle on a terrible pitch, trying to win a trophy that is cursed.

That being said, Masi by no means looked out of his depth and this could be his big chance as a sub with Lucio.

45 days for Cáceres, it could have been a lot worse, but still a sad thing :S

I'm thrilled

I was in fear he would miss the majority of the season

45 days is great.... 2 months is great.... maybe he'll only be out a little over 1 month..... who knows..... but he'll be ok to play the majority of the season... that is big

45 Days, that's so much better than I thought it would be.

I thought it was going to be similar to Quags when I seen the slow motion replay.

Martin Caceres has brushed off transfer speculation by assuring he “never thought about leaving. I only want Juventus.”

The Uruguayan is in his second spell at the club after a previous loan period, but this time has made more of an impact on the side filling in for the injured Giorgio Chiellini.

“Obviously Chiellini is a very important player for us and means so much to us that we nicknamed him ‘the captain.’ Anyone who wears this jersey has to give his best in every game and that is what we all believe,” Caceres told Sky Sport Italia.

“I play where the Coach wants me to. It doesn’t matter if I’m playing full-back or central defender, the important thing is to do Juventus proud.”

He was asked about whether he considered leaving when he had less playing time in Turin.

“No, I never thought about leaving. I only want Juventus. I am here, I’m very happy and want to always do well for this team. It’s where I want to be.”

Caceres also played in the 3-0 Champions League victory at Celtic Park.

“It is an excellent result, but we must maintain the right concentration in the second leg too. We’ve started a long journey, but are taking each game at a time with the same focus. Naturally, our first objective is clearly to repeat our success in Serie A, but we are thinking about the Champions League too, even if we know it’ll be difficult to reach the end.

“On Saturday we face Roma, who are a great team and will give even more grit and determination after changing their Coach. However, we are playing to win on their home turf.”

He even said his dream was to return to Juve when he was on loan in spain after his initial stint with Juve! Champion mentality and a champion on the pitch!

for me...he is Camoranesi's heir. Every time I see him run that right flank...i get flashbacks

not necessarily regarding position on the field...but looks, heart, determination and his South American origins..

His grit and agression on the pitch is brilliant...and I feel he is the best in the team when it comes to heading the ball away...he flies through the air. He got the Corazon!
