HT: City 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday
Will end in a 5-1 trouncing or thereabouts but nice while it lasts.

Been watching United on Fox Soccer here and they've been awful. Yeovil much the better side. Still 0-0.

Not a surprise tbh.
Hopefully some foreign station will pick it up.

And now Liverpool have been taken to a replay with a 0-0 final result at home to Bolton. Crazy weekend.

Re: The FA Cup Thread
Out of curiousity - do you also have a saying in England that the Cup has its own laws?
In Germany we always say that about our DFB-Pokal, too ("Der Pokal hat seine eigenen Gesetze") - and this season the lower division teams already kicked out 9 (that is half) of the Bundesliga clubs in the first and second round.

Re: The FA Cup Thread
Not exactly, but the sentiment is just the same. It's more referred to as the "magic of the Cup", but yes, it's understood that league standing/division as well as form very often go out the window in FA Cup ties.

Re: The FA Cup Thread
Ah, thx. "Magic of the Cup" - yeah, that really has a similar vibe to our saying. I take it that the FA Cup is a one-legged issue unless there is a draw? Do you have extra time and penalties after the second match if that is a draw as well, or do you go into a third rematch? And does the away goals rule apply, too?
In Germany, our Pokal is always one-legged and decided with extra time and penalty shoot-out right away if there is a draw.

Re: The FA Cup Thread
There's no away goals rule (as they're considered separate games) and draws in initial matches go to replays, and draws in those replays are now decided by ET and penalties, though it used to be the case that there would be as many replays as were needed to decide a winner.

That's how the League Cup is structured in England (apart from the semis of course).
