Just got sent off just like he did multiple times in the past so it is not a one off error, its his technique and it sucks.

Demichellis and Sznznzy ruined both ties for me.

Just let them score and make a come back later, not this almost 60 minutes of 10 man game BS

Instinct kicked in, most goalies would have done the same thing. If he doesn't come out Robben places it either side of the post easy then you lot will say he should have came out. He din't get the ball but he hardly touch yet Robben spun like some Balley dancer

It was a little rash from Szczesny, because it never looked like he'd get to the ball first and didn't get near it. However, it's other players than the goalie who are most at fault when an attacker gets clean through like that.

Szczesny is, and always has been, a liability. He is the latest in a long line of Arsenal 'keepers who cannot be relied on in clutch situations. I don't care how many clean sheets Szczesny gets against EPL scrubs because when it comes to a big game with big pressure, he makes a big mistake. You can almost guarantee it. Arsenal fans will undoubtedly backlash because they feel their players are a protected species who are impervious to criticism, but that's how it is.

these lot expect him to stay on his line. Robben is lightning quick and agile. He will control the ball and bury the chance easily then the fans and Wenger " will say why did you not come out and confront Robben "

El patron, c'mon

We all know past greats like Khan, Seaman, Schmeichel, Chilavert, and Yashin would have stayed rooted to the spot, making no attempt to come out and close down the angle, not even so much as blinking and literally forcing Robben to shoot wide by their sheer presence and awesomness

I know, it's a difficult situation. However, it's hard to say the keeper did nothing wrong whenever he gets a straight red and gives away a penalty.

LOL, no just no.

Please Arsenal fans and I know this is not all of you, stop overrating Chesney every time he has a good run of form.  How many times do you have to see this movie to know how it ends.

Chesney is not and never will be a better keeper then De Gea, De Gea has none of the boneheaded blunders that you write off for Chesney being young like costing Arsenal a trophy against a relegated team in a final and having one of the worst Euro's for a national team I have ever seen a keeper have.

And guess what De Gea is younger than Chesney.  So stop just please Stop.

De Gea has actual accomplishments and trophies behind him plus he is in awesome form for a very mediocre team and back line.

Why some Arsenal fans insist on doing this every time one of there players hits a patch of form is just irritating.

Wilshere can walk into any midfield in the world.
Chesney is the best keeper in the EPL.
Chesney is better than De Gea.
Wilshere is better than Yaya.
RVP is the best striker in the world.
I wont even attempt to conjure up all the manure about Nasri when he was in form before he turned into public enemy #1

Etc Etc.  Please stop this nonsense, it makes the rest of the rational fans look bad.

I try not to brag but pretty spot on, hey?

Better than De Gea, LOL.

Anyway how many negative matches had Sczesny this year?
I would like to know the number.

Probably the best GK in EPL this year about the performance (not the value), therefore I don't understand who criticizes him.

LOL, Carling Cup or Champions League???? HHHMMMMMM Chesney better than De Gea is just a joke.

Let's not talk Carling Cup now, we know Chesney's boneheaded history there now don't we? Against Relegation fodder at that.

The guy is a disaster waiting to happen on the big stage (finals, Euro's, CL etc) and as we can see in this competition Saturday and Sunday in the EPL is not the big stage some on this site would have us believe it is.

1. Penalty + red card any day of the week.

2. De Gea may be better out of the two overall, but "Chesney" is having the better season.

Why does the competition matter? it can be the WC final, or some charity event, a blunder is a blunder and De Gea cost United. Nice of you to try and gloss over that fact by mentioning the tournament, though. Almost Mourinho-like.

Dnmac4 wrote:Let's not talk Carling Cup now, we know Chesney's boneheaded history there now don't we?  Against Relegation fodder at that.
But you want to talk about De Gea, a "top" keeper who's made more blunders in two seasons than most make in a lifetime Laughing

Szczesny was put in one of those Catch 22 football situations people talk about (not really). He stays on his line, Robben takes down the ball and literally would take his time picking the spot in which to punish Szczesny for staying on his line. The other scenario is what happened on Wednesday night.

The real crux of the blame should be to the Arsenal back line who watched the ball and didn't see Robben running behind despite starting the run in front of them, literally.
