Nasri to stay per l'Equipe
http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/breves2011/20110711_082121_nasri-devrait-rester-a-arsenal.html
He made his power move to try and force Arsenal to make trophy-winning moves. In the end, it didn't quite work out as he hoped. But he was never really that intent on leaving this year. He will play out his contract and take over Cesc's AM position that will open up very soon... his preferred position anyhow.
Article also says that, with Gervinho, Arsenal will purchase no further offensive players. Wenger to focus on getting a DM and a CB, as Vermaelen is going to be moved to LB.
L'Equipe is never wrong regarding french players and its exclusive reports. Very interesting.

Arsene Wenger says Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri are not for sale and will be at Arsenal next season as well as confirming Gervinho signing.

I thought we were just dumping Gibbs into LB?

Well it looks very solid
We will see in the preseason games what Wenger have in mind
Re: Nasri to stay per l'Equipe
Cesc seems gone guys. The report specifically states that Nasri was sold by Wenger on the opportunity to take over the AM position from Cesc... just a matter of time now.

i rather lose nasri then cesc tbh. Nasri in fabregas role has always sucked. I hope wenger has thought about this in detail

Dont u think keeping Nasri rather than Cesc this season may be benificial in the long run.I mean even if Cesc doesnt go this season he will 100% certain to go near future to Barca.Whereas with Nasri if he can be convinced and IF he signs a new contract Arsenal can build a team around him for future.

Well of course. But i don't think Cesc is long for the ride and might as well end the yearly drama with a 40 million prize. Nasri, on the other hand, would rather stay... all he wants is to be sure Arsenal is competitive.
It's not like he's been a jerk about. He's barely said a word to the press and has worked closely with Wenger to see what could be done. He's gone to practice and has stayed close to the team.
Maybe Wenger told him that the finances will open up next year.

Re: Nasri to stay per l'Equipe
That's all very interesting. If Vermaelen is indeed going to LB, then we sure do need another CB. I'm up for a Djou-Kos center partnership which was a wall when played. Our left flank will finally be defensively sound.
A lot of faith in Gervinho if we're not getting more offense... I'd like another natural striker, but I am very happy in him wanting another DM. Momo seems to fit the deal in experience, is French, and comes cheap. The only problem is his age.

I'm not even mainly an Arsenal fan and i want them to do well lol. It's so f-in frustrating to see the best players developed go somewhere else.
Maybe you guys go after Lass, although i doubt it. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get a defensive destroyer with experience to help the defense. He would accept a 4 million euro annual salary too (77k a week) net. Not sure if you guys pay net or gross. if it's gross, then it's too much for Arsenal. The 15 million transfer fee may be a problem too.

Its about time the papers leave Arsenal alone. I am happy that both Cesc and Nasri will be at Arsenal.

Re: Nasri to stay per l'Equipe
Well we already had Lass a while ago, but he left because he wasn't getting playing time. He probably wouldn't want to come back unless he had a guarantee that he would start over Song, and I don't think he would get that guarantee. Honestly, I don't expect us to sign another DM given that we have Frimpong and Coquelin, and I think at least one of them will be given some first-team responsibility in the upcoming campaign.sportsczy wrote:I'm not even mainly an Arsenal fan and i want them to do well lol. I also didn't think Nasri or Cesc were leaving anyway, but it's nice to see some possible confirmation for Nasri.

Frimpong's gonna have to do a Djourou and go from ACL tear to class player in a few months if we're to rely on him. I'm not so sure relying such a critical position to a youngster is a good idea... but well, Wenger know's best I guess.

Re: Nasri to stay per l'Equipe
I think what we will see with Frimpong is him playing along side song or wilshere for 30 minutes in games we're winning, so that he plays the DM role with someone who is capable defensively to reduce the reliance on him.
We have to make sure we ease him in rather than throw him in the deep end and hope he can swim, especially as he hasn't been on loans.

Frimpong is ready.. He is a whole season late, but I believe Wenger when he says Frimpong knows how to swim in the deep end..

Re: Nasri to stay per l'Equipe
A year on the sidelines is either a great thing or a horrible thing. Some players take it as a time to reflect, mature and learn, others take it as a years paid vacation, or do almost nothing to help their careers.

I think Frimps more of the former man.. Or maybe this is wishful thinking..

Re: Nasri to stay per l'Equipe
Well, if Frimpong can't do it, maybe Coquelin can? Eastmond will also be in there too. Let's just hope one of them breaks out this year, or that Song never gets injured! In the worst case, Djourou has experience as a DM. At least we'll have quantity if nothing else

Re: Nasri to stay per l'Equipe
Song rarely gets injured, but he sure can get tired. He's not a machine. He needs to rotate every now and then to save up his stamina for the last leg of the season which is usually the most important. There's also Diaby, who I only hope regains his once mighty form.

Re: Nasri to stay per l'Equipe
He gets tired like Wilshere got tired towards the end of the campaign, i guess it's somehow more obvious for Song because when we're defending he has to be constantly sharp.

Re: Nasri to stay per l'Equipe
I meant it more like if nobody can manage to perform as a backup out of all the options, hopefully Song doesn't get injured then, which would force us to rely on someone else being good enough to back him up for a long period. Obviously Song isn't going to be able to play every game 90 minutes though. How did I get a neg rep for that?
