With Bale and Ronaldo up top, you need to begin to realize that possession will never be a fundamental part of our game.

Bale crosses quite a bit on the left, so not sure what you mean by he won't "rifle" in the crosses

Firstly, he didn't play on the left yesterday.

Other than that, while he did cross a couple times yesterday, he did so less frequently than Di Maria and slightly more effectively. Mainly because he was able to get around is man a couple times and pull it back across goal, rather than just aiming for Ronaldo's head - or even worse - Benzema's.

In our attacking structure, that type of delivery should be a last resort.

Good Observation. I agree.

Di Maria tries that very often. He does put in decent crosses. Just that he started doing this more often as he perhaps realized that although he bursts fwd with great pace , but doesn't often get around the defender and loses the ball. Having said that he is not a selfish player that can be another reason. No complains. Happy to have both Bale & Di
