Re: Champions League · Group Match #3 - Schalke 04 vs Chelsea
Have had to miss almost the entire match as something came up about 10 minutes in
Nice to arrive home just as Torres had doubled the lead though

I watched the first 30 mins, and had to leave, but I'm reading Torres had a really good game, hopefully he can keep that consistency. Great to see a 3-nil win!

I would say 3-0 is a bit unfair on Shalke. We were clearly the better side but our last two goals were on a counter attack when all their players were in our box.
We wouldn't have this much space in the EPL and we cannot count on this alone if we are to succeed at the latter stages of the CL

Re: Champions League · Group Match #3 - Schalke 04 vs Chelsea
Well, the exact same strategy got us to with 4 seconds of beating Bayern with 10 men... Not saying it's the way forward or that I like seeing 90 minutes of that kind of football, but in a difficult away game, I'd sooner see us play like that and win, than dominate & pass rings around the opponent and lose, like Everton for example.
As for the score being non-representative of the match, that's bull. We scored 3, they scored nowt. I don't care how much of the ball they had, it's a fair scoreline for that very fact. Always amuses me seeing people talk of "deserving" in football. Seen scores of people saying Arsenal didn't "deserve" to lose to Dortmund tonight because they were the 'better team'. They scored 1, Dortmund scored 2 - they deserved to lose. Period. Same goes for us. If Schalke allowed 3 goals and we scored 3 goals, the scoreline was fair.

No not at all, but I am a bit more confident we will see progression into quarter finals now. EPL is a different story, I can't wait for the city match this weekend.

Great result, I only caught 10 minutes of it due to uni but I am very happy with it, who were our best performers?

I only caught about 10 or 15 minutes as well. At the very beginning and very end. Something unexpected came up during the match and I had to leave
Did manage to see the first and last goals though

Of course results are everything but performances matter as well. I don't think we are that convincing in our play so far this season and I fear a match up with a better opponent might bring these flaws out in the open. You cannot deny it isn't a dream to see Chelsea dominating games rather than being labelled underdogs every time we take on a European elite. I just see us sticking to the same tried and tested tactics and as early as it is, I haven't seen anything to suggest we're moving in another direction yet.

Haha I know it's a cliche but apart from the early goal, we switched off. I would like us to have more consistency on the pitch.

A personal one, yes. But if the club were interested in that they wouldn't have hired Mourinho in the first place. You're just not going to get that with him when up against a big side.

Re: Champions League · Group Match #3 - Schalke 04 vs Chelsea
To be honest, I think with Mourinho's style we can achieve that. We just need better players overall.
We're two Solid CM's, a CF and perhaps a CB off being without a doubt the best club in England and that would make us top 4 in the world too. imo. If we had a lineup of:
That would easily be a top 2-3 squad in the world. Perhaps only behind Bayern. No matter who the manager was.

It does, proves that we're not really that far from the best teams in the world.
