The lack of defenders in those lists are pathetic.

I agree, although at least Philipp Lahm didn't stay under the radar. Hm. Or did he make it only because Pep plays him in the midfield?flameas wrote:The lack of defenders in those lists are pathetic.

Ok list, but what in the world is Hazard doing there? Mata was the best player at Chelsea, he should be there if someone from Chelsea at all should be there (I'm not really sure).

Hispano (aka closet Madrid fan), you suck at football. The Awesome wrote:Ronnies goals are only part of the reason I put him up there. I still see that Messi simply just isn't better than Ronaldo, honestly. If the world keeps accepting Messi as the better player, for whatever reason, then so be it. But at the very least lets not take one away from Ribery, like they've done with Xavi in 2010 and Iniesta in 2012.
You'd better spend your time playing video games and watching the walking dead.

The criteria it's always the same: it is about the best player in the world.Zealous wrote:Every year the criteria for this award changes and it always changes into something that favours Messi.
"Should be about trophies not goals!!"
"It's a calendar year not a season!!!"
"It's about goal scoring not trophies!!"
"No it's back to being about trophies again!!"
This award has become a farce ever since FIFA got their hands on it.
And Messi is the best.

Messi was better last season and has been better this season, and carried team more. All this being injured or half fit almost half the time. It's amazing really.

Ribery and easily.... that's why he's going to win it. After that, it's Ibra for me; but the politics are against him.
Stats are not the story unless you're a striker or a 10 btw. So for Ribery, it's more about setting up the game for his teammates to finish. He'll get his stats. But his contribution is nowhere near as much on the final part of a play as it is for guys like Messi or Ronaldo.
Ballon d'Or is not about the best scorer... it's about the best player.

Ronaldo has the most goals+assists in 2013. Yes, even more than Messi or Ribery.free_cat wrote:Who has been the best in 2013... Ronaldo? Lol.sportsczy wrote:yeah right... says a Barca fan. Messi has been far from the best in CY 2013.

Year 2013 Club+NT
The same story again. Going by individual performance Messi should win it.

Messi should win it and will win it. However, the difference between 1st and 2nd place will be very small this year.
1- Messi
2- Ribery
3- Cristiano Ronaldo
That's the order I'm predicting.

AGAIN!! Mentioning Messi, Cristiano and goals in the same sentence. You can mention CR and goals.. taking 10+ shots and scoring goals [that's what he do best].
But when it comes to Messi, f**k goals! He's a better dribbler, creator than Ribery and Robben combined! He's that good! Goals is what makes him a more complete player than any one ever [ Messi = Maradona + great finishing ].

Lol Hazard in there for his hype.
For me it's between Ribery and Messi. Statistically Messi has been better than anyone else. But Ribery achieved and played a vital role in Bayern's treble.
Won't mind if either win it tbh.

Agree with Barrett, mata should be in there if hazard is, because mata has been a big help for Chelsea these past two years. Anyway, still happy hazard is in it, he has potential to become an elite. But back to the topic, my vote goes for ibra, this guy is simply amazing, no other striker like him and he keeps amazing people. Messi is a key for barca and Argentina but ibra still amazed me more for the award. I'll always keep Ronaldo up there, Madrid had its downs last season, but Ronaldo has been wining a bulk of their games, he's immense. But going by individual performance, ibra is the only one that tops the wow factor for me, maybe because I'm so used to seeing messi run past defenders so easily.

Stupid list. Seems as if every player who manages to score some goals makes the list now just like some are on the list for what they've done in the past.
Alaba should be in there without a shadow of a doubt and Hazard is one big *bleep* joke.

No love for Diego Lopez. Considering he played for most of this year and was the stand-out performer in some big games too. Courtois as well has been exceptionalrwo power wrote:Roman Weidenfeller?juventus101 wrote:I believe Neuer should be shortlisted, but no others. It's not a team award though. It's about the best individual player. Why shouldn't Messi win it?windkick wrote:So.....given Ronaldo didn't win any titles.....and your obviously going by goals....you are saying Messi should win it? lolYohan Modric wrote:Ronaldo scored 55 goals, 2nd highest after Messi.
I would personally map out the top 3 like this...
1. Ribery
2. Messi
3. Ibra

Opta ratings look decent enough when it is just them three. Look at the rest of the list and this is what you find:Harmonica wrote:
