Portuguese playmaker not looking for Anfield exit
Liverpool's Raul Meireles insists he will be playing for the club this season despite question marks over his future.
Manager Kenny Dalglish has brought in two midfielders in the shape of Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam, leading some to believe that Meireles could be offloaded.
Serie A giants Inter Milan are reportedly keen on ex-Porto man Meireles, however, he has no thoughts about quitting Anfield for pastures new this summer.
On the club's pre-season tour of China, when asked if he would still be a Liverpool player this coming season, he replied: "Of course."

Meireles has also been troubled by an ankle problem, but he says he is on the mend, adding: "I have a little problem with my ankle, but I've start training today. It's a little problem."
Meanwhile, the club's record signing Andy Carroll is looking to hit the ground running this term after arriving with an injury following his £35million capture from Newcastle.
"It was disappointing since I signed being injured. Getting myself back fit," said the England international.
"Now I'm getting myself fit I'm looking forward to the start of season, which should be successful."

I'm very glad Raul is going with the rest of the squad. It does make one wonder if the rumors around Aqua to Sunderland weren't total rubbish. The fee was surely high, or at least the rumor that said 14 mil, but perhaps there's something to it.
Does anyone know if Aquilani is going to China with the squad?

There's also been rumors of a bid for AA from Fiorentina over the last day or so, so maybe he has more suitors than we previously realized.

btw there has already been an arrangement two of China's best U17 players would be given trials this month with LFC & DC is supposed to go to some local matches also, the news was up in LFC's official Asia Tour site. .

Adam, Gerrard, Aquilani, Henderson, Shelvey, Spearing, Meireles, Lucas, Poulsen, Cole and... can't come up with a last name.
Poulsen and Cole are hopefully on their way out, and there have been rumors about Aquilani as well, although we'll see how far that goes. Also been mentions of Shelvey going out on loan, which is a logical move considering his age and how much regular playing time would benefit him.

If you're including wingers in your statement, there's more than 11, and they're fighting for 5 spots, not 3. You'd have to toss Suarez, Kuyt and Maxi in along with Downing, bringing it up to 14.

True, Suarez (SS), Kuyt (R&LW), Maxi (RW) can play in multiple positions; but once you place them in a position another become vacant.
On the other hand, in central MF, five (six, if you count Henderson) players competing for three spots.
